Good West Coast morning Chipsticks & TOD family
Gooooooooooooood morning Early Bird!!!!
Chips, can you believe Iâm First on a Monday morning?!!!
I better buy a lotto ticket today đđ
I was completely spooked out, youâre usually still snoring when us people living in normal timezones have been up for hours. Did you need to go to the loo?
LOL!!!
Ah ha, you did. Probably back in bed now while us normal-timezone-people fix the world.
I wish I could return to bed, but I must earn my shilling for the day.
Youâre going to be in the office five hours before everyone else. Your boss wonât even be there to be impressed.
He never is! Iâm always the first one here :-(
GGail, isnât it still dark where you are?
Yes, yes it is Jackie đ
furst.
Youâre late!
nope, but bt is.
Like Tony Abbott.
yer late.
No-one - but no-one at TOD is like Tony Abbott - Iâm trying to think of an equivalent US politician - but itâs difficult - he talks to everyone as if they were 10 years old - relates social legislation to religion - does not believe in climate change, treats women as 2nd class people while doing the “lovely ladies” routine & is a genuine idiot. He does not, however, talk word salad. Very basic set of words - no idea how he ever managed to get through university.
Thrilled for you 99ts, I know how much you loathed the creep. Crikey, that party must be in turmoil, doesnât get much bigger than ousting your PM!
changing pmâs is annual game for aussies. no bfd.
Rather like our cricket team - winners and losers in the same season
Abbott ousted Turnbull when in opposition - now he has repaid the favor. Abbott was way beyond his competency level - Peter principal in action. I like Turnbull on the social issues - but he is a RW economist and a multi millionaire - Iâm unsure of his views on war mongering - he does seem to be against the doom and gloom that Abbott portrays about terrorism which is good.
Downside - he might win the next election cause the current Labor leader is pretty awful - would have beaten Abbott but maybe not Turnbull. Has been an interesting evening.
Wow, the bitterness between Abbott and Turnbull must be intense. How will Abbott take this? Will he go out of his way to make things tricky for Turnbull?
Not sure - Turnbull didnât win by a large margin 55/44 - 1 informal (now who would do that?). After attacking him to call for the vote - Turnbull made a sugary speech praising him. Julia Gillard tried to appease Rudd by including him in her Cabinet. Bad move.
Itâs less than 12 months to an election so Abbott probably doesnât have time to come back before then. If Turnball wins the election, Abbott is done - if Turnball loses he will probably resign from parliament.
Bravo to the changing leadership in your part of the world, 99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Vicki - better if it was a party change - but getting rid of Abbott is most pleasing - brought me out on lurk mode where I had been contemplating too many 1st world problems.
Morning, Chips, GGail and all. Weâve got beautiful early fall weather here in Central PA so itâs hard not to smile today.
Good morning JackieG. May you enjoy your pleasant weather todayđ
Goooooood morning to ya, Jackie!
Another crisis: I decided not to wait for that sofa that would take two months to arrive, so chose another one that arrives tomorrow. But I donât think Iâm going to love it as much as the first sofa, and fear I have made a catastrophic decision. There is, quite frankly, no more troubling problem in the world today than this.
Iâm sure you made the right decision, Chips. As soon as you see the new sofa in your home and make it your own by having Danny drool on it and then spilling some tea or coffee, you will love it. The one that got away is never as good as the one you got, no matter how much you think it is. Besides the two-month sofa would have built up in your mind as a great thing and when it actually arrived, you would be let down-always happens. Now it can be the sofa of your dreams that never has to live up to reality.
Cryyyyyying - Jackie, if I ever decide to hire a therapist, it will be you!! You have an exquisite way of turning Sofagate in to a nice and positive thing. But arenât faraway sofas always greener??
Yes, they are greener, but sometimes more mildew.
Youâre hired!
two month sofa? what, are you adding jewels to them? wimminz/smh
I was on a furniture binge last week. one tea/coffee table (whatev), one ‘puter table, one queen size bed, two teevee stands and 4 dining table chairs. Total time spent in the shop = 2 hours.
Whaaaaaaat the heck? Have you bought a new house?
Spooky, I bought a coffee table too. Why are they called coffee tables any way? I drink more tea than coffee, so it feels like discrimination.
that table is for the sis unit, who loved it. 8-)
rest all for me, me, me.
Sooooooo selfish.
yes, yup, oui.
also. too. snottea.
Interesting question, AMK. I only use the “coffee” table for serving guests, offering coffee, tea, cold drinks. Itâs also the place where big art books sit and itâs perfect for putting your feet up, which means it should be called the foot table.
Iâll agree now that Australia has removed their most pressing problem
Hey Chips…..did ‘that chairâ ever get finished?…lol.
Well, it did, Uche, but I have noticed one of its little legs is a bit wobbly - which means I never sit in it, I usually just give it to visitors I donât like.
in the two states where retail politics is still very important..
Why canât Hillary Clinton close the deal with those folks?
THAT is the question that should be keeping Democrats up at night.
And, I donât even like Bernie Sanders.
………………….
Battleground Tracker: Sanders Surges in IA, NH; Clinton up in SC
Bolstered by support from liberal Democrats, Bernie Sanders tops Hillary Clinton in primary votersâ preference in both the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary, while Clinton holds a lead in South Carolina.
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/battleground-tracker-sanders-surges-in-ia-nh-clinton-up-in-sc/
how many delegates can bs win from lily white NH & IA? SC has more diversified electorate and so she leads there?
In any case, polls this far out are total bs. that includes the ones that show donald dreck in the lead.
it sets the tone for the rest of the primaries and MSM makes a big deal out of these two states and sets the narrative. It is ridiculous that two states that donât represent the nation have that much power.
I still think Bernie is another Howard Dean. Although this election cycle is like none other.
nah, not really. their importance is overblown by the emmessem
Rikyrah, things are very volatile in Iowa and still very unpredictable, no matter how much doom news CBS is trying to push against Hillary this week. I believe I read that at this point in 2008, Barack Obama was running 14 points behind Hillary and nobody expected John Edwards to come in second. Also remember that in 2008 Barack Obama lost New Hampshire and went on to win the nomination. This is more media scare tactics to undermine Clinton in the eyes of Dems and shore up Repubs.
Good Morning BFF and TOD.
Mooooooooorning BFF!!
What happened with Dannyâs paw?
Iâm not sure 57, and the vet wasnât either. But Iâm now beginning to think that it was stung during our riverside drama. I didnât think the reaction could be that delayed, but did a bit of Googling and itâs not uncommon. There was no sign of a cut or anything stuck in the paw, but he could barely put any weight on it. The vet gave him an injection and some tablets and said heâd x-ray him this Wednesday-ish if it hadnât improved, but itâs way better today - so, hopefully, itâll be fine.
Howâs Kasper doing?
It could very well be a delayed reaction. Iâm assuming he gave him a cortisone shot, or antibiotics? Glad heâs better. Usually the vet can tell if itâs in a joint or a bone or something. Kasperâs doing fine, as long as I donât poke at the hole. Itâs closed up but you can see I could pull it open if I wanted to fully explore it! Heâs back to eating his dry dog food, although none too happy about it. Still canât get any satisfactory answers on Nickelbyâs cough. Heâs not supposed to be on prednisone as long as he has, but otherwise his breathing is very labored. Being asthmatic myself, I know breathing distress when I hear it. I will address that again next week. Kasper gets his teeth cleaned on Thursday and theyâll x-ray his bladder and kidneys to see if he has stones. Juggling all the health issues has been exhausting.
Ah, didnât realize Nickelby is having problems too, you really have your hands full with them.
I actually donât know what shot the vet gave him, I thought it was just a pain-killer but having told him about the wasps I hope he covered that too. Jeez, never a dull moment in our doggy world.
Could be pain killers, of course. But if you mentioned the wasps, cortisone would be one of the treatments. Was it swollen?
Nickelby has what Iâm told is chronic bronchitis. It is not a “heart” cough (I have way too much experience with older dogs and heart coughs). He has no murmur, his heart sounds fine. But he coughs. A lot. I would live with the cough, but then his breathing gets labored and I know heâs in distress. We may have to try an inhaler that will costs hundreds of dollars/month rather than the prednisone which is bad for him long term. I canât imagine putting some apparatus around his head so he breathes in the inhaled medicine. For a small dog, he has the strength of a rhinoceros.
{{{{{ Kasper + 57 + Nickleby }}}}}
Thanks! My boys have been through it lately…….
Iâm glad to hear Dannyâs getting better. Having a medical professional-whether people or animals-tell you theyâre not sure what something is sounds very natural to me. Not only has it occurred to me a jazillion times, but my sister went into the hospital with all the signs of a stroke-memory loss, paralysis on the left side-and the doctors told here they “werenât sure” what it was. Only Lionel Barrymore as Dr. Gillespie (1930s) or Hugh Laurie as Dr. House knew what things were. I told my doctor that and I got a very stern look back.
Iâm so tired of “no answers” on all medical fronts.
TYVM, JER!
thanks…JER
This is a BFF Bee Alert.
Jeebsus. Horribly insensitive of you, BFF, to bring bee-y/wasp-y things here.
But damn appropriate đ
 You are totally forgiven!
Wow, why was a Turkish truck carrying so many bees? Maybe this is Erdoganâs secret weapon against the Kurds.
Can we build that wall today - around the Reagan library after the clowns arrive???
TOD: Check this out — https://www.civiqs.com/polls/110
I got them all right!! :-)
Didnât take the quiz, but noticed how they have the answers positioned for Questions 3 & 6
Pf, Carl Sagan would have been on the ground weeping bitter tears if he could see todayâs media, not to mention our subpar education system. Many Americans embrace ignorance and talk about it as a source of pride. Stupidity and climate change are the two forces that will one day do in the USA. And if a Republican president is elected in 2016, that day will come very, very soon.
the GOP base has been convinced that education is a liberal plot…although teh folks who tell them these things have all been educated…aka Rick Santorum…I do not know if we can ever win these people over…
i am beginning to think the same about Sanders and his crew….
Iâll say.
“celebration of Ignorance” Sarah, The Donald, ridicule of educated, informed and endlessly curious POTUS.
The Bundy Bunch aiming rifles at federal officers
Sitting US Senators claiming the Supreme Court does not have the final word on whatâs legal or not legal.
Carl Sagan was accurate.
i can only wonder if he foresaw how bad it would/could get.

GM Chips and TOD - lovely evening in my world. We had a discussion show with Joan Baez appearing. Was slightly hijacked by the rolling of the PM - but she had some wonderful things to say about MLK and BHO. She mentioned her desire that he return to organising when his 8 years as President are done. A RWNJ on the show did the negative on the President, but the rest of the panel disagreed. Almost unanimous that the decisions of 2003 created the middle east situation as it is today - plus some thoughtful discussions as to solutions - all of which (except for the RWNJ) insisted no more war.
Good Morning TOD. Iâm not sure how Australiaâs governing works because I could swear that it was just a couple of years ago that he became PM but Iâm glad heâs out.
Off to what I hope is a final medical procedure for my little health hiccup. Hoping for the best today.
Have a great OâDay Everyone
Wishing you the very best Donna, come back to us hale and hearty!
We can throw out PMs any time at all donna - PM is the leader of the majority party in the House - so would be like Boehner being rolled by his party. No election needed - just the party members voting for someone new. Since 2007 we have had Rudd, Gillard, Rudd, Abbott, Turnbull - 5 PMs only 3 elections.
best of luck, Donna—
And also too - wishing all good outcomes for the hiccup. Take care
Best wishes Donna on your health fix, sending lots of healing thoughts out for you.
Sending you lots of positive thoughts for the very best outcome and healing. Hugs to you, Donna.

Wishing the best on your doctors visit today. (((Hugs)))) and prayers sent your way.
{{Donna}} I hope everything is okay with your medical procedure today and a speedy recovery.
A Kentucky clerk who was jailed for refusing to issue marriage licences to gay couples has said she will not block the process but her name will not appear on the paperwork.
However, Kim Davis questioned on Monday whether licences without her signature would be valid.
Ms Davis, an elected official, has said that her Christian faith should exempt her from signing the licences.
The US Supreme Court declared gay marriage legal in June.
“I donât want to have this conflict. I donât want to be in the spotlight. And I certainly donât want to be a whipping post,” Ms Davis said on Monday. “I am no hero. Iâm just a person thatâs been transformed by the grace of God, who wants to work, be with my family. I just want to serve my neighbours quietly without violating my conscience.”
Despite Ms Davisâ claims, several Kentucky officials including the governor said the recently issued licences are valid.
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-34247029
nothing like lil slammer time to get some common sense.
According to CNN, she will be tested in about 30 minutes. A same sex couple will be there to request a marriage license.
“However, Kim Davis questioned on Monday whether licences without her signature would be valid.” Doesnât want to be in the spotlight - but still stirring up trouble. If she wonât sign the licenses she should be out - but no doubt will be voted in next time around. Iâm wondering how the county makes enough money to pay for her & the deputies??
Good day TOD …. other updates in the sidebar …. bbl ….
