Morning all. The sun is shining. The Pontiff’s historic visit means we may get a break from hate-spewing Repubs for a news cycle or two and my son is flying in from California for a two week stay this Friday! Who could ask for anything more? Hope everyone has a great day. The autumnal equinox officially arrives on September 23, so enjoy the last days of summer.
A two week visit! Does that mean you will be baking and cooking and… brushing up on your fall-safely exercises? Have a great visit, when he arrives!
Oh yes, VC, that’s exactly what it means and I haven’t done those exercises since February. I’m going to offer illness as an excuse.

Boy, I missed a lot.
FLOTUS” beautiful blue and black gown. Wow! Plus, I am told that the hairstyle I like so much is called “beach waves.” I don’t know if that is only a NY thing or a generally agreed upon name.
As Meta and some of us have been noticing, the news out of Guantanamo has been increasing. PBO’s prison visit and documentary are not the exact same issue but a part of re-examining our policies, i think.
Today’s news is that the NY Times has its entire editorial column devoted to Closing Gitmo.
Usually there are two or three editorials in this space.
The headlining of Gitmo tells me that changes are coming and coming soon.
The lying false narrative that the NY Times is setting up tells me that PBO will soon have another victory.
For those who can stomach mendacity read on.
The Times says there are 3 reasons Gitmo remain open and You Guessed It- 2 of those “reasons” are PBO and the Administration’s fault.
The third (and in my view, the Only) reason is Congressional opposition.
My conclusion is that Gitmo will be closed by the time Election Day 2016 rolls around.
My ancillary, and important conclusion is that the 4 prisoners held in Iran will be released by then as well.
The connection is GOP Reasons to be Hateful.

No one can surpass FLOTUS in any category. Hey style and promotion of the arts have been hugely responsible for the post recession boom in the fashion industry!
That’s the truth—from the first J.Crew Kids the girls wore to the Inauguration in 2009, until now, the fashion industry has a lot to be grateful for.
And she took great care to be sure to celebrate diversity in fashion not only in her clothing but in the workshops she’s held in the WH.

President Obama spoke to her personal, emotional, priorities. So she considered it a good speech.
MHPerry is like many other intellectual pundits: rarely satisfied, because she constructs in her head what should be the “perfect” speech on subject “x” or “y”, and then is almost inevitably disappointed when the president delivers something different.

The very BEST way to silence and shut down the madness that is the Republican party, is to register to vote and VOTE! Every. Single. Time. Help register others. It’s not hard to do and its the right thing to do. Volunteer as much time as you can to help others have a voice. It’s important!!
