      Congrats 57 :)

Just posted this heads up - bottom of previous thread ….

      Hello 57! How are you?

        September 21, 2025 at 11:08 am

        Yea, me! How’s Danny’s paw?

        • September 21, 2025 at 11:17 am

I thought he was 100% again, but took him out for a walk early this morning and he has a slight limp again. Damn. Can’t get to the vet until Wednesday, so definitely making an appointment if he’s still lame tomorrow. How are your fellas doing?

            September 21, 2025 at 11:25 am

We’re hanging in there. Lots to sort out, evaluate. Kasper’s special bladder stone-busting (we hope) food won’t be in until Thursday. Nickelby’s still coughing and I need to connect with the vet. Taking Mr. 57 to the orthopedist this afternoon for his severely arthritic knees.

I had to explain to my boss that if the copy machine is broken, it is impossible for me to print stuff. Amongst his sociopathic insanity, he’s also stupid.

Is it weird to want chocolate and rum this early in the morning?

            • September 21, 2025 at 11:28 am

Yikes, that is WAY too many problems for one person!!! You have definitely earned chocolate and rum ….. wait, is that a thing??

              • 12 57andfemale
                September 21, 2025 at 11:51 am

Yeah, I’m a tad overwhelmed. No. I want chocolate. I want rum. Two separate things.

So I gave myself the weekend off and worked on a quilt for my goddaughter’s five year old son for Christmas. Little spaceships. So stinkin’ cute, if I do say so myself. Felt great to have cute little fabrics in my hand and Zen out at the sewing machine. But now there’s all the laundry, dirty floors, the usual chaos that I sort through on a weekend. But I soooooo needed to do something for my head and heart or I was going to lose it.

                • September 21, 2025 at 11:57 am

I want a spaceship quilt!1!1! Sounds ridiculously cute - don’t worry about the other stuff, we all get there in the end. Ish.

                    September 22, 2025 at 12:52 pm

We found out yesterday that Mr. 57 doesn’t have any cartilage in his knees. None. And that’s the least of the issues we need to explore concerning his health. I feel like those roly poly toys that you knocked down and they popped back up. Just keep punching at me, I’ll just bounce right back.

If Danny’s foot has something to do with ligaments or tendons, he would need to rest it until it was better. But you need the vet to determine that.

Need to get to my next meeting, but, meta, this comment is in response to yours in the previous thread re: VP. My take is that he is doing everything he can to keep Ms Hillary off balance while giving her plenty of rope, which she’s been running with full speed ahead in a decidedly incorrect direction, i.e., away from all that PBO (and VP) have accomplished. The more she is on record with her b.s. the better. Those YouTube ads are writing themselves.

Hope everyone has a fine Monday … lots of exciting stuff happening this week …

French rail operator SNCF has been ordered to pay €150m ($170m; £110m) in damages for discriminating against more than 800 Moroccan staff.

The 832 Moroccans, who were hired as private contractors in the 1970s, were denied “railway worker” status and the accordant benefits, a court found.

Nearly all of them were awarded damages by the court, with the settlements ranging between €150,000 and €230,000.

Many of them waited more than a decade for the outcome of the case.

The industrial court, which specialises in workplace conflicts, said that SNCF was guilty of “discrimination in the execution of work contracts” and “in the rights to retirement”.

The plaintiffs argued that their careers had been stunted and they had received lower pensions than their French counterparts.

Even those who later received French nationality and were awarded permanent contracts complained their careers had been deliberately curtailed.

Obama’s citizenship push stokes conservative fears

The administration is accelerating naturalization for millions of legal residents — many of whom will probably vote Democratic.
    By Sarah Wheaton

    09/21/15, 05:09 AM EDT

    .
The Obama administration and its allies are holding scores of events this week as part of a sweeping new initiative to nudge 8.8 million legal residents who are eligible for naturalization to become full-fledged citizens — and therefore, eligible to vote.

The not-so-secret expectation is that most of them would probably register as Democrats, given the demographics heavy on Hispanics and Asians — a fact that has not been lost on many conservatives.

“We’re getting lower-income people who are coming in and taking more services, and they’re drawn to the Democrats,” said Ed Martin, president of the right-wing Eagle Forum, which raised the alarm last year in a report titled “How Mass (Legal) Immigration Dooms a Conservative Republican Party.” “That’s what Obama knows, and that’s what the Democrats know, and that’s what Republicans should know and should be fighting back against it,” Martin said.

one of the post under one of the toons.

Is the tide turning back for Trump? It was bound to happen soon or later. The earliest candidate to make a splash is seldom the one to make it to shore in the end. It will be interesting to see the final driftwood that washes up.

I hope the tide is not turning back for Trump. I want this loud mouth to remain the front runner long enough for any other less scary GOP candidate to make grounds for the general elections.

Good morning TOD family, Chipsticks, Danny, Nerdy Wonkette, Lurker. So sorr our Dannysticks is limping again. Hope its no more than a few days of resting the leg.

NPR finally did a bit of journalism today now that the Iran Deal is done. They had an Iranian journalist on who gave an amazing history of Irans nuclear start. In 1957 the USA helped them build a nuclear reactor and gave them weapons grade uranium to use nuclear material for peaceful purpose. The Iranian government paid MIT $20 Million to train nuclear scientist. It was a great piece of journalism by msm who usually don’t practice such things. It was so interesting that I sat in the car to listen to the whole show.

    09/21/15 10:00 AM—UPDATED 09/21/15 11:02 AM

At last week’s Republican debate, Carly Fiorina described a Planned Parenthood video showing “a fully formed fetus on the table, its heart beating, its legs kicking, while someone says, ‘We have to keep it alive to harvest its brain.’”

There is no such video. It does not exist. This pesky detail has since touched off a striking series of events.

Very smart quote! Also loved the Harriet tubman quote you guys posted from the emmys last night, had not heard that one either.

Question: is the GOP still looking thru their binders full of women to find one for the $10 bill? or did they just give up and admit they wanted to answer that question with Ronald Reagan?

if an American who happens to be of the Muslim faith can fight and/or die for his country, America, then he and his American born offspring should be able to one day aspire to become President. We have a Constitution that has stood for over 200 years and only the Republicans hate it and want to change it based on things the founders did not want.

Luvvie has a post up about the Emmy Awards

    …………….

Regina, Uzo, Viola and The Blackest Emmy Awards Ever
    Awesomely Luvvie — September 21, 2025

I (and countless others) have spent years complaining about the monochrome Emmy Awards (read: my post on 2013 Emmy Awards Embodied TV’s White Problem). It is usually a show that is white people giving other white people every award, and the audience is sprinkled with a few Black and brown faces to keep everyone patting their own backs. Not this year. Well, it’s still a big white scoop with colored sprinkles, except the Black sprinkles walked on stage and got the props they deserve. It was the Blackest Emmy Awards I’ve ever seen, and this is why I have hollered myself hoarse.

My throat is hurting for spending much of the evening screaming like a banshee. Three Black women whose work I LOVE walked away with awards, and I cannot stop being geeked about it. The big winners of the night were: Veep, Game of Thrones and Black women.
