sometimes the past memories just creep up on you;
it is always amazing to see how the Pope Francis is continuously trying to emulate the acts of Saint Francis, who is reported to have loved the living creatures so much and also left his life of wealth and privilege behind so that he could hang around with the poor and marginalized in society.
Now I am singing songs I have not sang recently like:
“Make a Channel of your Peace”;
” Brother Sun and Sister Moon” ;
etc;
the Franciscan nuns who trained me from elementary and up to the end of high school would be smiling
Makes me thing of the movie from the 70’s Brother Sun and Sister Moon. Saw that as a kid. Never forgot it.

That the GOP would be less than welcoming to the Pope whose words and actions most closely reflect the teachings of Jesus Christ should surprise no one. The belief system of today’s GOP seems more akin to that of Satan than it does anything Christ espoused. From hatred of the poor, to self-righteous selfishness and greed, to the love of the rich and worship of money, war and strife, today’s GOP appear more like a Satanist cult than “God’s Own Party”. Rejection of a messenger of peace while embracing Bibi’s warmongering and lies. The GOP has been guilty of the exploitation/perversion of religion to provide cover for anti-human policies, all in service of the rich and powerful. I highly recommend folks check out last nights Colbert that had Donald Trump and a young rapper named Raury as musical guest. Raury performed his song “Devil’s Prayer” which includes the chorus “you better run from the devil” complete with a gospel choir singing backup. It was like a Trump exorcism, with the young man wearing a Mexico soccer jersey with Trumps name crossed out (to the shock and cheers of the audience). The battle for the collective soul of this nation is in full swing. Here’s to hoping this country can find a way to embrace it’s better angels and reject evil.
