Egyptâs president has pardoned two of the three Al Jazeera TV journalists convicted of broadcasting false news.
A presidential spokesman told AFP news agency that Mohammed Fahmy, a Canadian, and Baher Mohamed, an Egyptian, were on a list of 100 prisoners to be released.
Mohamed did not appear to be on the list when it was first published on Wednesday, nor did the Australian Peter Greste, who was deported in February.
They were sentenced to three years in prison last month after a retrial.
Prosecutors accused them of collaborating with the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood after the overthrow of President Mohammed Morsi by the military in 2013.
The journalists denied the allegation and said they were simply reporting the news. Legal experts said the charges were unfounded and politically motivated.

This papal visit is very important in helping to shape the consciousness of America and the world,and will be a deep validation of President Obamaâs initiatives on climate change and immigration. Iâve been monitoring the coverage on the Italian national broadcasting (RAI) and they are covering it very closely with great praise for our President.
VP Biden and Dr. Biden is heading inside to join POTUS, Pope, and FLOTUS. I would love to see Dr. Jill Biden take over the role of FLOTUS in 2017. Donât get me wrong, part of me would love to see this First Family remain in office for two or three more terms, but it canât happen. But VP Biden and his family in the WH would make it a tiny bit easy having to see Barack, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, leave in 2017.
I remember when the Republicans used to criticize the President and First Lady for always appearing on these late night talk shows, any show. Now look who is popping up on those same late night talk shows, the Republicans who are trying to replace this President. I hope FLOTUS will be prepared because Iâm sure Colbert will ask her about the election and what she thinks.
