Been so busy, so just getting to all of this. Thank you to all of you for your wonderful coverage of the Pope’s visit.
I also noticed in the clip above that Boehner never spoke with the Pope, but only to the other cardinals that were present, unlike PBO who chatted and joked with him. Tells you a lot about someone and their level of self confidence when they can’t look you in the eye or talk with you. I’m just sayin’

Of the four figures the Pope put in his pantheon — Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Dorothy Day, and Thomas Merton — the most interesting for understanding Francis’s message is surely Day, who was at the forefront of the Catholic Worker’s Movement and radically antiwar.

I see more and more why he and PBO are simpatico; so many of his words and ideas echo our dear president.

Pope Francis is going all in. The one thing that the right likes is what he said about abortion, but on the other hand there was less applause on what he said about the death penalty. As usual, they only care about the life before it gets here.
So the GOP thought he was going to speak on abortion - and then we get to the death penalty. Not so noisy.
To the Republicans, once the child is born they don’t give a dam about it, it can die of starvation, or not having healthcare, or no home, gun violence, they don’t care.
Raise people out of extreme poverty.

This is not your usual Pope - he will be well remembered when the history is written - amazing what happens in the age of Obama.

Talking about the creation of jobs for the common good and on to climate change, everything that congress has not done and actively stood in the way of PBO doing anything. It is interesting how he often mentions courage.

NPR lady said “this has been a dream come true” for Bonehead. He had advocated for Congress to invite a Pope to speak for years. Probably not this Pope but it was good timing that we have first AA President and first Latino Pope.
I haven’t read this article, fully, yet — too busy laughing that finally when Catholic Republicans who are running for President are asked, “Which American woman should be on the $10 bill?” they can say “Dorothy Day.” Instead of Thatcher or their wives or the lady next door.
