That effing wimp crying ass clown Boehner did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in his entire speakership but 50+ stupid defund Obamacare votes, outright lying to POTUS on the Grand Deal and created how many f*****g crisis deadlines due to his clusterfuck inability to count votes for raising the debt ceiling and the budget deals. What a f*****g useless POS.

    Good morning! :)

Those toons which equate GOP to foreign terrorists intent on the destruction of USA sadly ring true now.

      Some observations (from last thread):

      https://twitter.com/meredithshiner/status/647405762998833152
“So Boehner will use Pelosi and House Ds to avoid a shutdown and peace out. Probably not how he imagined his speakership would go.”

      https://twitter.com/petermaer/status/647408661632040960

    • 49 EricFive
      September 25, 2025 at 10:20 am

I know this is a longshot, but Boner resigning could allow him to abandon Hastert rule for pending budget fight. Gov’t shutdown this close to Presidential election would be bad for GOP, maybe whoever owns/controls Boner is taking drastic measures to avoid shutdown. Just a theory, still trying to make sense of latest GOP insanity.

    • 53 arapaho415
      September 25, 2025 at 10:21 am

DC conventional wisdom is that GOP will avoid shutdown (but no controlling GOP megalomaniacs, now that Boehner has caved):
      https://twitter.com/JohnJHarwood/status/647411326600511488
“by draining Boehner’s-fate drama from situation, his stepping aside may make it easier to limit shutdown duration or avoid it altogether.”

The elephant in the (clueless MSM) room:
      https://twitter.com/JohnJHarwood/status/647412360852938752
“Trump’s rise + Boehner’s fall reflect severe strain at seams of modern GOP. far more important to ’16 race than Hillary’s email.”

Lots of thoughts around the intertubes that the inmates have now taken over the house. I so feel for PBO having to eternally cope with the stupid of the GOP.

Thoughts on Boehner - He was going to lose leadership, he is ill, scandal - no-one seems to have a clue.

    • 55 arapaho415
      September 25, 2025 at 10:27 am

Probably all of the above (re: Boehner), but Pope Francis’ address may have touched a moral fiber in Boehner, who came to his senses and realized his fate as a failed leader of the shipwreck that calls itself the GOP.

The silver lining is that the USA is blessed with a leader who is head-and-shoulders above anyone else in moving the country forward despite the chaos that now prevails in US politics now.

Would be surprised if this change of personnel works to PBO’s disadvantage.

      • 56 99ts
        September 25, 2025 at 10:34 am

I do fear what the wingnuts will do now - although a shutdown impacts all in the US it also has major impact outside of the US. The world could be back in recession if the fools decide to use this to shut down government.

I would love to believe that Bohener’s resignation will in some way prevent a government shutdown but when you think about it rarely are there any consequences for the Republicans bad behavior. They shutdown the government and all get reelected in the next election. Gerrymandering is their firewall for any ridiculous thing that they do in Congress and they know it.

We are in for hell IMO!!!

If Boehner had any intestinal fortitude, he’d remain as speaker, gather the few sane GOP house mbrs, and work with the Dems to craft and pass legislation of benefit to the people of our nation. That is what a L.E.A.D.E.R. would do! Unfortunately, he has NEVER been a leader…

      • 121 forus50
        September 25, 2025 at 11:25 am

Right? Some of the media are already claiming he has always wanted to be a consensus builder and the Tea Party wouldn’t let him do it. BULLSHIT. His job was to get both sides to compromise. The only time he ever worked with Pelosi and Dems was when he was forced to because he had backed himself into a corner without enough GOP votes on budget and debt deals. As I said up thread Boehner has been a total useless POS and any new speaker can’t be worse than this crying jagoff who neither led his own party OR worked with the other party.
