Aw, so sweet! His son Chris choked up a little reading the General’s retirement citation. Reminds me of my Dad and sister’s ceremony’s. Very moving!

This is CRAZY! How can they let this stand? Unbelievable cruel! The guy who hurt her and they children gets TWO fucking years, she gets 30 because she didn’t protect the children from him? What the ever-loving hell?!!

We have some fucking nerve. What sickens me even more is that our government fails to protect this woman.

I agree 1000k percent Jeff. Nancy Grace always has some woman who hurt her kids on and wants them put in prison but never comes to the aid of these battered women. Oklahoma is the most backwards state next to Kansas and Miserable-Missouri.

I believe that the IRS allows one to claim for a huge, unexpected and costly loss in any given year.

If this is true, on behalf of he Democratic Party, I want to claim the huge loss of Kim Davis, wacko clerk who refused to perform one of the main tasks she was elected for. She has effectively switched to the GOP, a better fit for her bigotry and fake religious zeal.

I hope my return will be equally huge because I intend to share it with you.

I’ve actually been reading about this guy (Weis) this morning.

He had a rough go at stuff after that and even tried to kill himself partly because of it.

      Really tough life.

Oh how sad. I had no idea. Depression is no joke. I have a couple of family members who’ve struggled with it for years. I hope things get better for him and his family.

        • 46 CBO
          September 25, 2025 at 4:26 pm

He seemed to have turned it around after the failed attempt and even made a go with getting back together with his wife (And they’re still together, which always gives me hope).

Still seems to be coming to terms with his son’s condition though, even though it’s clear he loves him.

The only sad thing is it seems he doesn’t want to take his wife’s advice to see someone about the Depression - which really is a serious thing.
Especially if you’ve been suicidal like he has.

I hope it all works out eventually since by all accounts he seems like an otherwise nice guy and ‘gentle giant’.

Appeared before the President departed Gen. Dempsey’s ceremony, he walked way back (with Secret Service in tow) to greet a gentleman in uniform in a wheelchair, whom I believe may have been a wounded warrior. Okay, gotta dry some tears after seeing that.

Sweet Pope. Sweet children. Love this school in East Harlem - exactly where the Pope would rather visit, than be at some big venue with the wealthy people in NYC or anywhere else around the world.

I’m not a fan of Cardinal Dolan. But he has had to tone down the luxury stops big time during the Pope’s visit, and I’m a big fan of that. Maybe it’ll get him thinking of how he’ll devote his time in the future, as the Pope has reminded all the pastors to do.

just saw the news of Boehner, good. He has done nothing for this country and he certainly had the position capable of doing much to benefit the people he was supposed to serve. Wonder if the Pope’s speech influenced him at all..

  34. 91 jacquelineoboomer
    September 25, 2025 at 4:57 pm

In East Harlem, the Pope is putting himself in the place of an immigrant, missing his home, reminding the children that school can help us live among “one big family,” to work as a team, play as a team, and pursue our goals. He’s talking about Dr. King again, his “dream” that many children can have equal opportunity and all that comes with it.

He says today we dream and celebrate and hope for a better world with greater possibilities. He says the children dream of growing up and living with happiness. He says, “Wherever there are dreams, wherever there is joy, Jesus is always present. Always.”

(I’ll be looking for the actual transcript of his remarks, later. So touching.)

MSNBC Sees Ratings Spike As Brian Williams Returns

    —-

A pet rock covering Pope Francis would have seen ratings spike. Brian Williams and Kate Snow sux. She has no clue who anyone is or what she is looking at in NYC..

    • 94 jacquelineoboomer
      September 25, 2025 at 5:13 pm

Yeah, Phil Griffin’s probably asking for a bonus, too. Brian keeps looking for explanations of WTF’s going on, in his coverage, too. It’s a little disconcerting. Kate Snow is more impressed by her new job than by what she’s covering.

What else is new, right? Pass the salt.

GOP candidates don’t much come to Iowa City, “bastion of liberal” in Iowa. Apparently Carly didn’t get the memo, as she’ll be here tomorrow tailgating prior to the UI FB game. In response, the local Democrats will rally in support of Planned Parenthood and “meet on the corner of Sunset St. & Benton St. at 11am, we will then march down Melrose Ave. in a sea of pink, have some volunteers bird dog Ms. Fiorina, then have others do some crowd canvassing/signing up supporters”. Should be a fun event. :-)
