I love Kerry Washington; she’s a fine actress and a beautiful woman. But does anyone else think she looks painfully thin in that picture? I was just watching Psych and she was in an episode. I thought she was healthier then than she does in this picture. I worry for some of these people that seem as though they’re starving themselves.

1.9 Trillion $ is quite a lot of money, but the fact is that the 80 folk who control that amount of wealth would be much safer and happier if they did something they truly can’t afford not to do - donate 5% of it to the goals of @GlobalCitizens.

So, why not explain that to them in terms they can understand?

#LetsRollJoe … I have no doubt that much of his Presidency is going to be about explaining the peril of income inequality to those who have the most to lose.

I watched Stephen Colbert’s show today from last night and heard Kerry Washington talking about her new movie on Anita Hill. Did anyone see it? I heard her talking about the VP’s role in the hearing. She didn’t sound very positive, so I looked it up. I remember watching snipets of that hearing when I was young, thinking how wrong it was that nobody believed Anita Hill. It bothered me as a young woman. Do you think it will hurt the VP if he runs. I realize they’re going to drag all kinds of things out about him. The media, I’m sure, will have a field day. I expect it. Is this something that could really hurt him? He’s the one who made the Violence Against Women Act in the senate. Is this something he learned from that experience? What do you think?

    • 123 Dudette
      September 27, 2025 at 12:22 am

It will be difficult. I remember having the same feelings when the Anita Hill hearings went on. However, one thing Joe Biden doesn’t do is run from tough issues. If he runs, he’ll have address that, and anything else that comes up. He’ll do it in the way only he can. No person, and most certainly, no candidate is perfect. What’s important is how one deals with mistakes and setbacks and how one rises to occasions that offer the chance for redemption.

Remember how the Rev. Wright situation was supposed to doom then-Senator Obama’s campaign? Remember how his response, that amazing speech, ended up being one of his most shining moments? Joe Biden is a kindred spirit. He’ll deal with whatever they throw at him with candor, humility and grace. Of this you can be sure.

Hi Sherry, here’s my two cents on this:

Seems to me that all the “dirt” on Joe Biden are things that happened decades ago…but the man has been serving in the current administration for the last 7 years - meaning that if PBO were suddenly unable to fulfill his role as President, Joe Biden would be US President. And CLEARLY, America had no problem electing Barack Obama for TWO TERMS - with Joe Biden as the next in line. Which implies that America has no problem with Joe Biden being President - Anita Hill or not.

      Period.

I’m 65 and watched all the hearings at the time and read all the newspaper and journal articles at the time. Now I’m gonna speak a really hard truth right now. I fell in love with then Sen Joe Biden, chair of the Sen Judiciary, as a result of how he handled a complex social issue in a public forum. My thinking at the time was that no matter how much I hated what Clarence Thomas was alleged to have done, I wanted the committee to either confirm or not confirm based on his judicial or public policy record. What made the allegation even more horrific was the fact that this DARK SKIN well-educated black man was being villified as a sexual predator, a fake narrative that has led to the lynching of many many black men in America’s very recent past. At the time, me and other black folk were puzzled and angered that a black woman was being used to advance such a narrative. We wanted to know why she was coming forward now. How her story reached the ears of the judiciary committee, and why she agreed to go public against a black man using such a familiar and often deadly narrative. As chair, then Sen Joe Biden attempted to neutralize this narrative by demonstrating to the all white male committee that they too had done similar things if not worse and no one had done to them what was now being done to Clarence Thomas. People also forget that Anita Hill worked for Clarence Thomas over a 10 year period, which included following him to another state. This one detail puzzled many people even though Anita tried to explain her decision to follow him as consistent with her career goals. She felt she had to put up with his crap because there were not many doors open for black people in general, much less at that level.

Now just think for a moment what would have happened if Clarence Thomas had not been confirmed. What would have been the impact on other AA men at the same level or trying to pierce the color barrier to power. What would have been the impact on black men in general. Then Sen. Joe Biden was considering these larger question when he moved the committee forward to confirm Thomas. It was extremely courageous of him to have done what he did. I will stand up and defend VP Biden’s senate record especially as regards the Thomas hearings with my last breath because sometimes you have to do the hard thing. This is why I love VP Biden so much. He, like PBO can get the hard things done.

I swear that’s me. I tease about that man at the gas station, but if I had a flame thrower in my house when one of these big-ass prehistoric-sized spiders we have in Georgia came at me, my shit would be burned to the ground.

I happened to wake up in the middle of the night years ago. Flipped on the lamp and one of those suckers was sliding down from the light fixture above my bed just inches from my face. I believe I screamed loud enough to wake the devil and people 3 states away. Then went on a rampage trying to find that bitch, cuz I know I would never sleep again until it Dead, Dead, Double-Dam Dead! As My President once said “I got the sucker!”

[I’m shuddering now, just thinking of it!]
