Wish I had two sets of eyes!

(The Pope is really making his “Vatican gendarmes” nervous on the streets of Philadelphia! He won’t be stopped from his little side trips. And good for him.)

Pennsylvania bride to marry in 120-year-old family heirloom dress previously worn by 10 other brides
    BY NANCY DILLON

In terms of tradition, this wedding dress takes the cake.

Pennsylvania bride Abby Kingston is about to become the eleventh woman in her family to get married in the same gown.

The 120-year-old family heirloom dress dates back to her great-great-grandmother Mary Lowry Warren’s 1895 wedding in Buffalo, N.Y.

It was worn by her own mother Leslie Kingston and nine other brides on her family tree — making its last trip down the aisle in 1991.

When Kingston, 30, first got engaged to Jason Curtis last year, she knew she wanted to continue the custom.

Just saw the last few min of POTUS @ UNGA and he is sparing no one!!

Also, Just … #ASKthe80 …. seriously, just have billions of people asking them to do their part because the simple reality is that all their wealth is worthless if several billion people are thirsty and hungry enough to trample their ‘castles’ and that is the reality if we don’t CHANGE our global societal structure, quickly.

    so many moving parts around the global;

    all supporters of peace, socio-economic justice, equality and sustainable development, were more vocal & more determined than the detractors, then we could made a significant difference;

we have the numbers, it is the commitment and individual participation that is more unpredictable and often lackluster

“”The only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is opportunity,” said Viola Davis last night when accepting her Emmy which, incidentally, made her the first Black woman in history to be given the award for best actress in a TV drama.
Maybe Davis was listening to President Barack Obama’s speech that same weekend, when he addressed a crowd at the annual Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Legislative Awards Dinner about needed opportunities for Black women. (Or Obama had been listening to us).
It was an inspirational speech from the President, whose position allows him to set goals and to lead the nation on policies. I doubt we’ll hear anything like it from any of the sixteen Republican candidates, and so far, nothing like it from any of the Democratic candidates for President….”

    SNIP

“…Of course, [women are] also a majority of my household,” Obama continued. “So I care deeply about how they’re doing.”
“Opportunities” was the keyword of Viola Davis’s brief speech, and “Opportunities” was the keyword from the President.
“When women of color aren’t given the opportunity to live up to their God-given potential, we all lose out on their talents;” he said, “we’re not as good a country as we can be.
“We might miss out on the next Mae Jemison or Ursula Burns or Serena Williams or Michelle Obama.”
I would add, we might miss out on Viola Davis, or you.”

John Boehner escorted Bibi down the aisle.
Then Pope Francis escorted John Boehner out the door.

I am so impressed with Pope Francis and I was glued to the final Mass.
Pope Francis couldn’t have represented his 2,000 year old religion any better.

This has been a good week for the decent people among us.
Next week—-PBO at the UN——-looks wonderful also.
    Peacemakers

I agree. You can kill him/her but that is not how you defeat DAESH. You defeat DAESH by addressing the core issues of inequality, in actions not words.

Thank you, Vicki. I had read a couple days ago that that was part of the departure plans for Pope Francis.

My hope is that the Pope will look VP Biden straight in the eye and say ‘my son, humanity needs your leadership as President of the United States’!

gm from my world. Just reading about Mr Putin wanting to meet with PBO. Might have just discovered that the next President might not be so willing to talk with him - if he wants to rejoin the world community, PBO is his best chance.

      good morning!

But, but, but, (according to gop & US media) lil putin is the “strong one” - haven’t you seen his abs or him and the tiger?

amazing how short-sighted people can be and how much they seem to treasure chest-pumping over and above steady calm strategic thinking that even attempts to leave the opponent with some level of dignity

Elizabeth Warren just gave the speech that Black Lives Matter activists have been waiting for

By Wesley Lowery September 27 at 4:54 PM

In a Sunday speech on racial inequality, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) called for broad policing reform — including de-escalation training and body cameras for all police officers — and likened the current Black Lives Matter movement to the civil rights movement that won black Americans the right to vote in the 1960s.

“None of us can ignore what is happening in this country. Not when our black friends, family, neighbors literally fear dying in the streets.” Warren said. “This is the reality all of us must confront, as uncomfortable and ugly as that reality may be. It comes to us to once again affirm that black lives matter, that black citizens matter, that black families matter.”

In the address, a copy of which was provided to The Washington Post prior to her delivery, Warren draws direct parallels between the civil rights movement and the current anti-police-brutality movement, and it sought to link issues on economic inequality with systemic racism. She traces racial economic inequality, citing inequities in the housing system, as well as decrying restrictions to voting rights.

“Economic justice is not — and has never been — sufficient to ensure racial justice. Owning a home won’t stop someone from burning a cross on the front lawn. Admission to a school won’t prevent a beating on the sidewalk outside,” Warren declared. “The tools of oppression were woven together, and the civil rights struggle was fought against that oppression wherever it was found — against violence, against the denial of voting rights and against economic injustice.”
