That last time the USA won a war and did nation building was the war against Japan. With the ugly nuclear bombing on Japan’s innocent people to get their leaders to surrender was the last time. This caused the rush for other countries to get a nuclear bomb to “protect” themselves against any country doing this to them. Japan somewhat willingly agreed to not build a army or navy for decades. They took USA nation building and became strong allies and a self sufficient nation. All other attempts proved to be a disaster like Vietnam and Iran.

Our president is magnificent, fierce, utterly real and brilliant-a leader of extraordinary greatness and vision. In today’s speech, he summed up everything the UN set out to do 70 years ago and all that that still remains to be done to fulfill its role and ideals. It wasn’t comfortable for a lot of countries in that audience and it wasn’t supposed to be. But the message—you can instill fear and hatred or you can promote hope and progress is as important around the world as it is in the US. No one can match our president. My childhood idol, Eleanor Roosevelt, who worked so hard for the concept of the UN and the Declaration of Human Rights was no doubt standing among the greats in history giving our President a standing ovation.
That was quite the speech wasn’t it ?
He is in a class by himself.

Koster’s office had launched an investigation after an anti-abortion group released videos over the summer alleging that Planned Parenthood in other states illegally sold fetal tissue.
“The evidence reviewed by my investigators supports Planned Parenthood’s representation that fetal tissue is handled in accordance with Missouri law,�? Koster said in a news release. “We have discovered no evidence whatsoever to suggest that Planned Parenthood’s St. Louis facility is selling fetal tissue.�?
The Attorney General’s Office interviewed workers at Planned Parenthood, the only licensed surgical abortion facility in Missouri, and reviewed documents from all 317 abortions during a 30-day audit, according to the statement. The investigation found that all tissue from abortions was examined at a pathology lab then incinerated.

The Kenyan was both a State Senator and a US Senator, where he sat on the Committee on Foreign Relations, Vet Affairs, Homeland Security, Environment, Health, Education, Labor and chaired the Subcommittee on European Affairs. Julian Castro has been a mayor and now HUD secretary. I really like the guy and I know people are really pushing for him to be VP. I have followed his career for years but I think he needs more experience. Don’t think he’d be ready to takeover the presidency in the event of a tragedy. If he can spend time on FP and other global issues, he would be a stronger bet.
FYI, he’s about the same age Obama was when he decided to run for US Senate, and should he end up being the VP on the ticket, and ends up taking over as president after 8 years, he would actually be older than Obama was when he first took office.
People need to knock it off with the lack of experience line.
We saw how much it was used against Obama in 2008 and also how wrong they all were when he bested all those “experienced” rivals.
Saying that you don’t think he would be ready to take over the presidency in the event of a tragedy is essentially suggesting that you think a tragedy is forthcoming for whomever comes in next.
President Obama himself has faith in the guy, and that’s enough for me and should be for anyone who trusts his instincts.
I know how old he is. I’m not talking about age. As I’ve said here before, I’ve been following his career since he left Stanford. If we’re going to use the yardstick of experience for the GOP, then we ought to apply it equally for a Democrat. I happen to think it’s valid.

It should be clear by now that I trust PBO’s instincts IMPLICITLY and Castro’s been very good in his current position to date.
And BTW, I don’t need to be lectured about what I ought to believe I want to see in my choice for POTUS and VP.
