Sad and horrible, but this is nothing new.
This mass shooting is so beyond endurable. We are doomed as a people if we can’t be persuaded to take the basic steps to keep our young people and children safe from gun violence. Republicans in Congress already declared that the lives of five and six-year-olds were acceptable collateral damage in the fight to deify the firearms industry and the NRA. And each week, we accept as normal the wholesale killing of young people who have now been deprived of all life and all future. Meanwhile, self-righteous morons, jacked up by the US media, bray on about the “RIGHTS” of fetuses. It won’t be long before the country founded with so much hope in 1776 becomes a hollowed out shell of a land mass with no moral compass to sustain it. And yet millions upon millions of people will stay home on election day to prove some point, which eludes any sane person. You don’t vote, you approve the violence and the massacre of our children. You don’t vote, you are an accessory to the killing.

I pretty much gave up hope after Newtown because I thought if 20 white suburban children being slaughtered didn’t cause a change, nothing would. Sadly cynical, I fear, and I try not to be cynical. I keep the thought of our president before me, who doesn’t let anything divert him from the vision he has for this country.

Donna, I think Sanders is a symptom of a mental illness that has gripped this country and caused millions of people to lose the ability recognize and deal with reality. Sanders is NOT presidential material. Period. Right now he’s managed to demagogue around an issue he’s passionate about and caused a lot of Dems and Independents to go gaga, but he will not survive the primary system and unless he wants to declare a coup and gather an army, he won’t be the general election candidate. I won’t even mention the Republican side since they all seem to have slipped their moorings to the real world a long time ago.

I saw that and couldn’t believe my eyes. I was stunned when Sanders talked about ‘big political mistake’ President Obama made in not encouraging his supporters to stay engaged. It is beyond belief that he would then say President Obama is NAIVE. Where the Hell does he get off??? (Pardon me - I am steaming). He’s running against PBO more than he is against the GOP. And all his supporters swooning over things he says that have been said by Democrats for decades as if it was the Revealed Word. I read somewhere that his lead in the polls (pretty meaningless at this point) is being boosted by non-Democrats; i.e. mostly Libertarians and I can well believe it. If I have to I’ll hold my nose and vote for him, but I don’t think he’s going to last much past the early primaries. Unfortunately, I think his supporters are such zealots that they will have a hard time voting for the eventual candidate.

the one that will never happen-sensible gun legislation. There is simply no limit to the numbers of dead bodies that are acceptable to the firearms industry and the NRA. The members of Congress are their acolytes, grovelling at their feet, anxious to serve their every desire. The streets of every major city could run with blood and our campuses could stockpile bodies, but they wouldn’t bat an eyelash as long as the gun industry profit stream was kept flowing.

GOP Leader Booed While Defending Benghazi Committee
Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-R), the chairwoman of the House Republican Conference, was booed by the audience at the Washington Ideas Forum Thursday while defending the GOP’s congressional investigations into the Benghazi attack, The Huffington Post reported.
According to The Huffington Post, the audience booed, hissed and yelled “You’re lying!” while McMorris Rodgers attempted to deny that the Benghazi committee was politically-motivated. She had been asked by ABC’s Jonathan Karl to weigh in on comments made by House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) in which he boasted that the committee’s investigation had taken a toll on Hillary Clinton’s poll numbers.
“I do believe that the work that we’re doing in the Benghazi committee is very important,” McMorris Rodgers said, during which, according to the Huffington Post, the audience’s disapproval only grew louder.
“We’ve not yet had important questions answered,” she continued.

Brian Williams has been relegated to covering daily news on MSNBC. I feel for the guy. But he sounds so very disengaged and, frankly, bored with the shooting in Oregon and the other topics he’s forced to talk about. Must be suffering the effects of the put down, following his past indiscretions. And then I remind myself he still has a job, while others who aren’t disengaged and didn’t tell tall tales got shuffled to make way for him. Such is the corporate media, and their long-standing good old boys.

The anti-abortion (as called in Australia - we don’t say pro-life) RWNJ who arrived without a visa is appealing to the High Court. Whether or not his visa should have been cancelled - he arrived here WITHOUT a visa. He knew he did not have a valid visa yet he boarded a plane. Thinks he is so special. 99.9% of people who arrive here without a visa - do not get to stay. I hope the court looks at that fact.

That’s how it should happen - but American white man - who knows? Our High Court used to have quite a liberal bent but all our Judges have to retire at 70 & my favorite Justice had to go. I don’t really follow the court as they don’t seem to have the power like SCOTUS does in the US

Of course he was. I read on the Orange Satan blog that he posted what he was going to do and people on his blog or bulletin board were egging him on. Another inadequate male with no girl friend so he goes out, gets a gun, lots of bullets and kills a bunch of people…but black on black crime needs to the main focus and ban abortion to stop the break down of society or just buy more guns.
