“You must not store or keep firearms or other weapons, ammunition, explosive devices or chemicals” - Oh no - my rights are trampled - have they not heard of the 2nd amendment.

Wow! This one pulls no punches and probably reflects exactly how the Republicans feel. Remember the big grin on Romney’s face the morning after the attack when he thought he had a ‘gotcha’ attack on PBO? It’s all about winning, no matter who suffers.

  8. October 8, 2025 at 8:50 am

Good morning Ms. Chips, Danny and TOD family, I hope all is well with everyone this lovely Thursday morning. Congrats 99ts, on being first this morning.

To all, I hope you have an absolutely splendid day today. <3 <3 <3

Thank God that President Obama is still the President of The United States of America. ⭐🏆 ⭐🏆 ⭐🏆

Good Morning TOD family, Chipsticks, Nerdy, and lurkers. I hope everyone have a wonderful day.

Old white billionaire says there is an NY magazine article about how disappointed the AA community is that PBO did not do more about race relations……I have not heard a thing Ben Carson plans to do which I assume as a GOP will be nothing. Just because someone talks softly does not mean they are humble especially since when you start asking B.C. serious detail questions he starts to mumble and speak in circles. This man like the other preferred front runner knows nothing about how our government works which is what the rich wants so they can steal even more.

        October 8, 2025 at 9:32 am

Jojo, what Murdoch is saying in his not subtle, very racist way is that AA’s will vote for Carson BECAUSE he is black and that they were obviously led astray in their support of President Obama. The condescension, disrespect and presumption in this statement is jaw dropping. Carson is most likely to do the bidding of billionaires like Murdoch, so they would love to have him as a black president they can boss around. What really gets me is that Murdoch thinks anyone in the US-especially African American voters- cares what he thinks.

GM Jackie, so true, no one cares what RM or the other GOP think. The only AA i know who voted for PBO because he was the first AA that could be president was a republican. So maybe those AA who are repugs will vote for B.C. but the majority of AA’s who are DEMs will not.

“What really gets me is that Murdoch thinks anyone in the US–especially African American voters– cares what he thinks.”

say it again Jackiegrumbacher. I read Murdoch’s comment and didn’t even bat an eyelash. It was only when I read Nerdy’s comeback to his statement that I laughed. I could give a rats ass what Murdoch or anyone like him thinks. smdh!

From former Fed chairman Ben Bernanke, in his new memoir, The Courage To Act:

I lost patience with Republicans’ susceptibility to the know-nothing-ism of the far right. I didn’t leave the Republican Party. I felt that the party left me.

This is, of course, a deliberate echo of Ronald Reagan’s famous line about the Democratic Party leaving him. And it’s hard to blame Bernanke. The know-nothing wing of the Republican Party rebelled against the TARP rescue package at the height of the economic meltdown. They howled that low interest rates would lead to imminent hyperinflation. They resolutely refused to consider fiscal stimulus despite Bernanke’s repeated pleas (see helpful illustration below from 2011). They wanted to audit the Fed. They wanted to end the Fed. They wanted to put us back on the gold standard. When Bernanke told them that spending cuts would lead to higher unemployment, Rep. Kevin McCarthy refused to believe him. Now he’s about to become Speaker of the House.

Republicans REWARD STUPID and wear it like a badge of honor! We can’t give them the keys…oh wait! Where have we heard that before??….

Morning. Interesting to see that PBO is going to a Hispanic Gala tonight. I attended a local one last night that was supposed to raise scholarship funds for promising Latino students. The Republican mayor said that the Hispanic population of the county seat had doubled in the last six years and now represented 32 percent of the total. The Hispanic percentage of students in the city’s schools is well over 50 percent. As the mayor spoke I thought that there would soon come a day when the city’s Latinos would recognize their political power and make Republican mayors and other city leaders obsolete or scarce. I am certainly working toward that end.
In other news, our son returns to California tomorrow night (SIGH) and we pick up our granddaughter for a week long stay on Saturday morning. Never a dull moment.
And now my annual October nemeses, the red beetles, have returned to cover my office window so that I’m forced to look at creepy crawlies all day. They will haunt my days until the first frost.

Good morning all. Happy Thursday to all. Beautfiul day here. Plus, today is our (adopted) granddaughter’s 5th birthday. Happy Birthday, Aliya!!!!! Wish I could share a picture. :) :) Today is also one anniversary of my husband completing his chaplaincy thru hike on the AT. Was also a beautiful day last year.

Bringing this over from thread last night. It was right at the end before new thread opened. It is an excellent, personal blog post. She ends it with the reminder that: In 1501, Catholicism seemed eternal. In 1849, slavery seemed entrenched. In 1959, nuclear war seemed inevitable. In 2005, gay marriage seemed impossible. Until they weren’t. Hope you take the few minutes to read this. It’s good!!

Never has FLOTUS whined - what a nasty horrible piece - and those who are pushing Carson are 100% insane if they think the GOP base will vote for the black guy. If Carson is their No 2 - Trump is the nominee.

    • 92 Sandy1110
      October 8, 2025 at 11:47 am

It also means that anyone who makes that claim is blindly ignorant to the fact that racism is the RACIST’S problem to solve, not the people they hate.

If someone I’ve never seen before sees me and is compelled to call me a n****r, that’s not my problem. It’s theirs.

That idiotic claim needs to be slapped down early and often.

He’s starting to be very funny. At first he was so so. On the weekend some teevee critic gave him good marks and said that he was carrying on the Jon Stewart tradition but to look for him to remake The Daily Show into his own next season. I hope he continues to do well, so far so good.

Remember how we reacted to Bernie calling Obamacare a “modest” improvement in providing coverage?
Today the NY Times calls a 6,000 prisoner release this month “A Modest Release of Prisoners.”

If the Black President does it, then it is a tiny unimportant matter.
    ————————————-
The Times will also like you to believe that Clinton won’t lose non-white voters to Biden because, you know, her husband was the first whatever. No mention of her husband ending welfare as we know it.
    —————————————————————————

Furthermore The Times wants you to be very afraid that the All-Powerful (tho unemployed) former SOS is going to put her finger in the dam and hold back the TPP.
It is my understanding that the TPP needs an up or down majority vote and is in no actual danger. Please advise if I am mistaken.

Oh, and where are my manners—Good Morning TOD.

The other day I talk to someone who said they weren’t voting in 2016, but if VP Biden runs they might vote for him. A black person said that. if she gets out there attack President Obama she knows she will lose alot of black votes. So she and her supporters better be careful. Very careful.
