One of my good friends from college is a teacher in Chicago. One particular student of hers has begun the college search and in her attempts to convince him to attend Morehouse College, or at least an HBCU, she reached out to myself, and three of my best friends – all of us Morehouse College graduates from the class of 2001 who met in a pre-freshman STEM summer program in June 1997- to see if we could talk to him about our experiences at Morehouse and do a little bit of convincing. The young man wisely took the opportunity to email us and asked about Morehouse and what impact it had on making us the men that we are today. We all responded back to the young man, but my friend Adrian Wilson wrote a mic-drop response that was so impactful I feel it needs to be shared and sent to every prospective Morehouse Man for the rest of days.
Last week, Damon wrote a post about hating Howard Homecoming because of how much Howard grads treat their experience like the best thing that ever happened. Well, Morehouse, Spelman, NC A&T, Hampton, FAMU, etc grads…we’re all like that. Folks often wonder why we HBCU grads love our institutions so much. I think that Adrian’s letter about Morehouse explains just that. It’s printed below without edit, though the name of the student emailing has been removed, because minor.
Having been remiss, as I have been walkabout, early this morning, 10:58 am EDT, 7:58am PDT, dear Mercury stationed direct. Perhaps some of us felt a sigh of relief, perhaps not. Anyway, it is over, and in the next few days, direct motion should resume a normal pace, and we may expect communications to ease up and begin to flow again. Okay now to move forward with those plans and decisions. :)
COSMOPOLITAN WAS RIGHT: THE KARDASHIANS ARE THE “FIRST FAMILY” AMERICA DESERves
Why? Well, as I type this, Malia Obama is probably sitting in some advanced-astrophysics or Toni Morrison critical-theory class; debating attending Harvard or Yale or Spelman next year; or just postponing school altogether to become the first 18-year-old Black astronaut. Her little sister, Sasha, is probably skipping school. But not to catch a movie or hang out at Arby’s with Natalie, but to volunteer at a homeless shelter and then to head to the library to continue working on the dystopian and empowering young-adult series she’s been writing in her spare time.
Their mother, Michelle, is probably in the gym training for an intercontinental CrossFit tournament while texting legal advice to Sonia Sotomayor (and looking flawless the entire time). While their dad, Barack, is probably in the White House basement, doing Mikan drills with a group of surprisingly ambidextrous Martians, who fly all the way to Earth once a week to chop it up with the prez.
That the Obama family is America’s official first family will never not be absurd. Not because they’re Black but because they’re so damn perfect. They’re each impossibly smart and tall, and the kids are ridiculously cute and talented and well mannered, and they all appear to adore one another. Oh, and they’re Black. Beautifully and unambiguously Black. So Black that they actually have a “Big Momma” (Michelle’s mother) living with them. And the names of their daughters could very easily also be the names of days in Kwanzaa. It is literally not possible to have a more perfect first family. We will never do better than them.

Great African American familes were cool and accepted in the 1980’s with the fictional Cosby’s. Now we come to find out Dr. Huxtable was a womanizer and drugged women for sex.
OT: NBC is airing the women who came forward to complain about Bill Cosby to coincide with his first day of testimony regarding sex with the underage minor at The Playboy Mansion. Shouldn’t she be suing Playboy and not Mr. Cosby? If they convict Mr. Cosby for having sex at an adult establishment with a child isn’t the adult establishment just as guilty? The young white man who raped the underage girl in MA private school got off because the judge determined it was consentual even though she was under 16yrs old. Wouldn’t the same apply with Mr. Cosby and the 14yr old? She said she was drugged, how do you prove that if she never said anything until now 20 or more years later? I am not blaming the victim but this just seems they just want to ruin this man when the statute of limitations has run out.
Remember when a few GOP-sympathizers in the MSM had tried to bash Pete Souza - and they swiftly felt the O’bot wrath? LOL…good times, good times… Something tells me that they will not be trying that again.

That is not the one I use on twitter..I use yahoo.I don’t know how it ever got changed to hotmail on here, but I am sure it was something I did. Anyway after I changed to hotmail to post my message soon after I was locked out of twitter..I have written support several times and all I get is change your password. I have done that many times. Still 2 days later I am still locked out. I decided to see if I could tweet the thing from here and I can. But somehow cant tweet or re tweet from anyone’s timeline. I have also rebooted my PC a few times to see if that helps. I can see the peeps timeline but can’t send a message or retweet etc. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. I am having withdrawals from not being about to use twitter. I can only hope that when I try to post this it goes through I just put yahoo instead of hotmail on this page to see if it help the twitter problem. I don’t know why at the bottom here it says http://gravatar.com/lottieharvey instead of my twitter nick. I have no clue about that website. Any help would be appreciated.
