Now the so-called “Freedom Caucus” will dress up their aims in talk of “regular order” and “decentralization.” But in the end, they’re all about the same thing Gingrich was about: “not to reform, but to destroy; not to compromise, but to advance a highly conservative agenda no matter the means.”

Just read it from the link on the last thread (a little behind). RW politicians always believe in democracy as long as they are in charge. They are always keen to change the voting rules and boundaries - as long as it benefits their party.

All done Hopefruit, and there ends the shittiest three days of work EVER! :-( And tomorrow I have to leave Danny in the vets all day for x-rays, he’s going to be sedated but I’m freaking about him waking up and feeling scared. Oh, I want to cry!

I know how that feels to leave your animal friend at the vet’s and you’re not there to make sure they are OK and worrying about whether they’re scared or not. But I know my vet loves animals and they’re very concerned about my animal’s well being. Take heart; I’m sure that your vet is the same way! :D

            • October 11, 2025 at 6:53 pm

Ah, thank you Alice! I just remember when I was a kid having to leave my dog at the vets for an ear operation and when I went to collect him with my Dad he was in a cage surrounded top, bottom, left and right by cats in cages - and he was FREAKED! Hoping Danny’s brief stay will be less traumatic, and that the outcome is easily treatable. I’m looking at him happily chewing the ears off his (toy) bunny rabbit, he has no clue how a big a day tomorrow is

            • October 11, 2025 at 7:18 pm

My loooooovely Sherijr, the only consolation after the last few days:

              (1) I didn’t hit send on that “**** right off” email to my boss :???:

              and

              (2) Things can only get better.

And if Danny’s paw/leg is repaired by tomorrow afternoon, then life will be wonderful all over again :-)

              Thank, you sweetheart.

Chips, I know Danny will be okay - you’ve chosen a caring Vet and staff to take care of your baby.

Now that’s where my sympathy ends for you will be playing all day tomorrow while I will be suffering…Monday!

I too have to go to the vet tomorrow, this little kitty I took in is not doing well, I suspect she has an infection. Planning to stay up the night and keep getting fluids into her and hope they can take her first thing in the morning. Did not budget for stray kitty vet bills… but alas here we are.

You and Danny take care, will be thinking of you guys tomorrow~

    A re-post from previous thread-
The final piece of the Iran Deal puzzle has been put into place.
Monday, October 19, 2015, will be the day Iran starts implementing the measures that will lead to the removal of sanctions.
    Iranians very happy.
    USA media, not so much.
    Bibi weeping.
If Bibi has time to think of Iran. What with Israelis and Palestinians killing and stabbing each other. And Israelis demonstrating for Bibi’s removal from power.

Hi all. Just checking in from three-year old land where there are no politics and everything is toys, games, stories, songs, hugs and tiny snacks. It’s been 40 years since we lived in three year old land and while our bodies are exhausted, our spirits are lifted by the way that love is freely given by small children and simple things like playground slides or kites or tricycle rides can bring so much undiluted joy. The loonies in the US Congress and the crazies running for president want a dark and ugly future for our little ones. No matter what it takes and how hard we have to work, we can’t let them win.

Funny how the GOPers who cause the dysfunction are NEVER asked to atone, redeem themselves by owning their duplicity. Didn’t the GOPers take the Constitutional Oath, respectively, raising the right hands and swearing to uphold the Constitution of USA?

They did, yes ,they did. BUT, you see, IOKIYAR! Nothing counts when you’re a Republican or any of their ilk. They don’t have to follow the same rules, never have to apologize……….everything or anything is “hunky dorey”!

Republicans only take hostages, never ɾҽտթօղտíҍííեվ!. A gun nut on FB said “liberals blame gun violence on an inanimate object for gun deaths. Just like blaming a fork for being responsible for being fat!” Never heard anyone blame a fork for fatness before. How do you even start a conversation with someone who claims that?

I usually see Bo in more stately poses, and this ‘candid’ makes him look so much like my wonderful Portuguese water dog, Splash, who died in July. She was 14, and we had the best life a dog and her woman can possibly have. So, while I’m so grateful for that, I miss her, of course. Bo has her coloring, though I have to admit he is infinitely better groomed. I don’t know how to post pix in a comment, but there are some here: http://thesouloftheearth.com/a-beautiful-life-splash/

Thank you betseyc for sharing a little bit of Splash with TOD. She looked so at peace and a wonderful soul that left too soon. She looks so much like Bo in the face but more white throughout her body.

I just read your beautiful meditation on the life you and Splash lived together. Thank you for sharing it. Two years ago (that seems impossible) I lost my kitty Eleanor; she was 14. For probably the last seven years, she was my constant companion - in my lap as soon as I sat down. She would come up on the bed and when I turned out the light she’d come under the covers. If I read too late she’d start to scratch at the covers, giving me a hint! If I turned on the ‘wrong’ side, she wouldn’t come in until I turned over, and waited until I put my hand in the right spot so she could lay her head on it. I still miss her more than I can say, but I’m lucky enough to have two new kitties to share my life with. Our animal companions truly touch our spirits and open our hearts in myriad ways.

        October 11, 2025 at 9:17 pm

Oh my goodness, I love the description of your bedtime ritual! It’s in those little things that I miss Splash the most — still thinking that I need to take her out last thing at night and then realizing she’s gone. So glad you have the new kittens. I’m sure I’ll have another dog at some point. I loved just having her with me.

      October 11, 2025 at 8:12 pm

that was really a beautiful tribute to Splash. Thanks so much for sharing that. I was not able to live with animals for a long time as they gave me hives and asthma. But I got shots and low and behold I have two main coon cats sharing the house with me. Having animals is seriously awesome. It is really a blessing to be able to have them, they bring another dimension into our lives.

I have allergies, too, a4alice, which is why I got a Portuguese water dog. I’d never heard of them until the mid 90’s, when I got my first. I’m still very allergic to cats, but would love to be able to have one. Maine coons are so beautiful in their slightly wacky way.

yardarm756 you know POTUS couldn’t say anything like that. It’s a double standard, one way for the white man and one for the black. Trump can get say with telling the pundits and talking heads to kiss his a$$. If 2007-08 the candidate Barack Obama had said some of the thing Donald Trump has said he would not have got away with saying it like Trump the white man has gotten away with saying anything he wants to say.
