Congratulations and happy anniversary Betsy.
Went out for my 32nd anniversary dinner and guess who was sitting at a table right in front of us? Newt Gingrich!!!! We were at WP24 a very high class restaurant. I wanted to tell them Mr. G. didn’t belong there because he has no class, but somehow I didn’t think they would approve, LOL.

I’ve been waiting for you Jojo. You reminded me to check if there was free online scrabble (which I hadn’t played in years) and there is! So I’ve been alternating among TOD, solitaire, scrabble and twitter notifications all day!
You’ll get addicted to it VC. I play against the computer on novice mode and beat the computer almost every time. I know someone who uses a more competitive mode and wins half the time against the computer. You can also play against users on online. I also use the tutor who gives you suggestions that I will use against the computer.
:D Oh, last night I jumped right in on wonk mode, played a couple of real people and got thrashed quite a few times - played until almost 3a.m. too. :D :D It was fun though I didn’t like the timer feature on each play - sometimes my turn ran out just as I was fumbling to place the chips.
LOL, you are too funny VC. That is why I play in the novice mode against the computer. Sometimes it takes me two days to find a word, thank goodness I am not being timed :) :) :)
I found a place called Pogo - and it does have an invite-a-friend feature. Is that where you play? I’ve been beaten up all afternoon as I try to remember the 2-letter words I used to know/use. Anyhoo, I’m going to practise until I get my groove back.

Two days to find a word!!! :shock: :shock: That’s it, I’m not playing with you ……yet. ;) The most I’d allow you is an egg timer (3 mins). These guys give less than 2 minutes and they keep interrupting play for the ads. Anyhow, I’m enjoying it because at least I get to *play*, whipping and all. :)

That was the standard timer we used when I used to play regularly, and we followed all the rules - like missing your next turn if you put down a non-word, etc. Good times!

I’ve said it before, but I will say it again, any Democratic presidential candidates who distances herself/himself from President Obama, or runs against President Obama major accomplishments, is basically aiding and abetting the dysfunctional Republicans. This the time, before we get into the general election? to send a message to Democratic candidates who are out there dissing, criticizing, and running against President Obama: YOU ARE TURNING-OFF President Obama’s supporters who truly make up the most loyal Democratic base! As far as I am concerned, it’s the Democrats who are attacking, and running against, one of the most successful and the most consequential Democratic presidents in history who should be held accountable if one of these deranged Republican presidential candidates is elected president in 2016!

Also, it’s suicidal, for them personally/politically, and for the country. Their unwillingness to stand up to the RWNJs will pull the entire structure of our democracy down. Not that I let the RWNJs off the hook-their level of crazy and evil is intentional, and it’s mercenary. Democrats who coddle them are almost as bad.

Very well-said Nath! I 100% agree that the Democrats who do this SHOULD be held accountable for enabling the dysfunctional Republicans. Even when GWB was at 28% approval and everyone (not just in the US) could barely stand that man, save for a few die-hard GOPers, the Republican candidates never explicitly sought to “distance” themselves from him. They focused on the Dem candidates and whatever they perceived to be their shortcomings.
And here you have a successful Dem President who has had a damn near-perfect two-terms, and provided an excellent model for running a presidential campaign, and all these worthless candidates can do is to pretend as if he were the worst thing they ever encountered?

My only wish! Yes, he’s been much better this past week, thanks. He had to go back in the hospital the week before, for four days, due to an infection. But he was sent home with longer-term antibiotic IV therapy, and home health nurses to come check on him every now and then, and is able to be out and about, soaking up some sunshine on occasion. Even walks down to my house for coffee, some mornings. Thank God! He made sure I had a great birthday, despite everything he copes with … quite the wonderful son, and I am lucky.

My son called to tell me that POTUS was on 60 minutes… told him I was aware but would not watch due to Steve Kroft being an asshole in his questioning. I knew President Obama would be incomparable in his responses.. but I just cannot bear the disrespect from these journalists and so miss most of these one on one interviews. I know my President has got this..
I’m with you. I’ve literally watched some of these shows in the past, where I’d mute the “interviewer” and just listen to the President’s answers. But enough is enough.
Think the Prez gets a kick out of zapping back at Kroft, however, or he’d never agree to do this show. And good for him!

Polls for 2016 candidates have a proven track record of being meaningless. There’s a twitter account whose handle I can’t recall now that tweets Presidential poll results at the same point in 2007, 2011 which serve entertainment purposes only — ask President Hillary Clinton, Rudy Giuliani, etc.
This year they’re not even trying to be anything other than click-bait (small polling sample of older #whiteprivilege only).

Yes, we would elect him for a third term and more if we could, we trust him, believe in him. The Republicans know this, and they know after he is out of office he is not going away. Those that would elect him again and again are going to continue to listen, seek his counsel, he will remain a leader even if he is not current President.
That’s why they’re falling all over themselves- they have nothing and nobody that can come close to him. It must be mortifying for them, and I have zero sympathy.
I belong to a women’s group that meets weekly and works on political and environmental issues, among other things. We are all Democrats, yet many complain about PBO because they just have the MSM for their information and not this wonderful TOD family. I try to forward articles and videos I learn about here to them, but sometimes it doesn’t sway their opinions of PBO.
This weekend I told them to watch PBO on 60 Minutes, and I wanted to post what one of the more skeptical women just sent me about that show.
“I just watched Barack Obama with a much too TV melodrama based, hard assed, I thought, Steve Kroft on 60 Minutes and was blown away. What a brilliant and terrific President we have had the privilege of knowing and how disgustingly under appreciated. His mind is so sharp and his ability to dance ‘the dance’ with interviewers is so wonderful.”
I’m only sorry it has taken her so long to realize how incredible PBO is. I love our President. And everyone here at TOD. :-)
