I cannot stand Politico. They ” fact checked the debate ”
Check out this dumbass fact check.
Sorry, Bernie: The “gun show loophole” doesn’t exist
When Bernie Sanders mentioned closing the so-called “gun show” loophole—one of the most widely supported gun-control measures on the left. But there’s one problem: the “gun show” loophole doesn’t actually exist.
There’s nothing in particular about gun shows that allows otherwise illegal gun sales to occur. Sanders instead is referring to an exclusion in the gun laws that does not require a background check in a private sale. It doesn’t matter if that sale is at the seller’s home or at a gun show, a background check is not legally required.
Good day TOD! Went to bed last night being proud to be a Dem. Such a contrast with the R agenda. And just perhaps, holding off for this debate this late in the primary season ended up working for the Dems based on the numbers. I was totally surprised. I would take ANY of those candidates (other than possibly Webb) over any of the R candidates and anyone with half a brain that has not been brainwashed by FOX had to see the difference. Although I feel much better about HRC than I did before the debate, trust will always be an issue for me. I have pretty much decided if Joe doesn’t run MOM will get my primary vote.
Had the TV on and off today listening to the reactions. The funniest thing I heard was that Bernie blew his line on HRC’s emails by his refusal to practice. That was the reason his folks in the spin room said it was “unscripted”. Rather, he had intended it to be an attack by saying “Your decision to use a private email server has created this huge distraction for all the Dem candidates and our issues.” Subtle change but totally changes the meaning and ended up bailing her out instead of attacking her decision-making. I find it hilarious. He overestimated his ability to do this on the big stage without practicing based on his rallies where he faces no pressure or opposition. Big mistake.
The bottom line for me is none of the candidates on that stage have the potential we have become used to with PBO. He indeed set the gold standard for the presidency. But I was thankful that none of them went after him and his policies. And I really liked O’Malley’s line that we elected a president not a magician. A nice reminder of the obstacles he has faced.
Isn’t that something? Today, he’s toasted for that “epic line” (albeit unscripted), which turned out to be much more gracious. The original might’ve left a few people pissed off at him. Instead, he comes up roses, and a lot less like a Clinton enemy.
I agree with you though on the potential of these candidates. None of them can hold a candle to our PBO. Never, not ever.
I think Trump is crazy like a fox. He knows how to play the media to get them ratings in exchange for free air time. The crazier the better, but I think he knows when to put on a serious face for the GE and out perform Hillary. That scares me. I liked Martin best.
I’m beginning to think so as well Donna. Would never have believed it but then I would never have believed they can’t even get a Speaker. The “establishment” vote seems pretty small in comparison, and I can’t see Rubio, Bush or Kasich dropping out which means that small portion will remain split. I don’t think Carson makes it to the end, but I don’t know where his supporters go. Can’t see them going to Trump, possibly Cruz? But he is just as obnoxious. It will be interesting to watch.
I will say this. Of all the Rs running, the ONLY one I can see managing himself in a GE debate format is Rubio in terms of style, but I think he will have the Ryan problem on substance. You simply cannot cram in the kind of knowledge he will be up against on the Dem side with whoever our nominee turns out to be. I will never forget how incompetent and “not ready” Ryan looked compared to Joe.
Ok people, life announcement: This week I embarked on a month of (near) sobriety. Reasons? A) Main reason is to get control of my cholesterol and fatty liver. B) Secondary reason is to ameliorate my stomach issues. C) Tertiary reason: Getting tipsy just isn’t as much fun any longer. The missus is also rearranging things, cutting out sodas and desserts. She’s lost 3.4 lbs in a couple of days! Also, I’m cooking a lot more, now that I have my stovetop grill. (Tonight it will be sausages and grilled veggies.) So wish us bon chance.
(PS: I found a recipe for virgin Manhattans. Will let you know how it turns out.)
LL…ALCOHOL WILL KILL YOU…IT KILLED MY DAD AND NOW IT’S DOING IT’S JOB ON MY BROTHER….DON’T DRINK…YOUR LIFE WILL CHANGE FOR THE BETTER AND YOU WILL CERTAINLY LIVE LONGER!
Glad to hear your life announcement LL. Your life will be longer and healthier. Good for the missus. I think she is a wonder….can tell she loves you, and what you’re doing shows that you love her.
GOOD AFTERNOON TOD FAMILY…JUST RETURNED FROM THE COVERED BRIDGE FESTIVAL TODAY…PICKED UP NATIVE AMERICAN BLANKETS FOR MY NEW LOCATION IN ARIZONA AND HUGGED MY EQUADORIAN FRIEND…THEY VENDOR THERE EVERY YEAR…HE IS DISAPPONTED BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT TREATED LIKE HUMAN BEINGS IN THIS COUNTRY…HE KNOWS I CARE! WE ARE ON THIS PLANET TO REACH OUT…NOT TO PREACH HATESPEAK BECAUSE OUR SKIN COLOR IS DIFFERENT!
Per POLITICO and TPM: Anonymous GOP sources say that House Speaker John Boehner is looking to move a bill that would lift the debt ceiling before he steps down. According to a Politico report, Boehner is still trying to negotiate a deal with the White House that would include the debt ceiling raise within a larger budget package.
Exactly. Thought the same thing when I saw Leon Panetta Bread out there earlier in the day. Who is he to tell the VP it’s “time,” plus everything you said.
Hello TOD people, hope all of you have been having a pretty good day. Needed to share this:
My son’s school had Marilyn Mosby speak today - she’s the prosecutor in the murder by cops of Freddie Gray. Today was their “Senior Inauguration” and she was the guest speaker :) He said she spoke quite long (eh he’s still a kid) but was really impressive.
That’s brilliant sherijr, I have a feeling Marilyn Mosby will go very far in life, so your son can tell his grandkids how he saw her way back in the day!
I know, she’s really quite something- hoping she does exactly that- go very far. And what an amazing treat for the Seniors today and the whole school :) Hola, Ms. Chips :):)
Now this is a reason to watch SNL
http://www.people.com/article/saturday-night-live-tracy-morgan-promo-video
Tracy Morgan is back at home on Saturday Night Live.
The comedian, 46, returns to the show this week for the first time since being injured in a tragic car accident that put him in a coma last year.
In his promos for the episode, Morgan has fun at the expense of castmate Bobby Moynihan by pretending the accident has affected his memory. Moynihan, 38, looks concerned when Morgan pretends not to remember that he once was an SNL regular.
“Did I used to work here? I can’t remember anymore,” Morgan says, before admitting he was just messing with Moynihan. :D:D
That was soooooo much fun to watch! I can imagine the thrill the young people left with. I truly love MC Lyte, KebMo, Smokey and every one who took the time today to encourage the young folks to use their imaginations to create music - it was WONDERFUL!!!
Yes we have and I noticed the same thing. How old is your phone? My daughter says that it’s the aging. Not sure about whether you can get a new battery or stuck buying an new phone.
Phew, I thought it was just me Dakota, and I’m too lazy to Google. It’s quite a new phone, the iPhone 6, got it less than a year ago, same with the iPad. I can’t believe how quickly the battery drains on both now, and I’ve tried switching off notifications, etc. Grr.
One thing to do, Chips, which you may already have checked, but in case not - go through all your apps on both the phone and tablet and make sure you don’t have any that stream media to the device (e.g., a classical music station, etc.). Because, if you do, those services can be running in the background and you don’t know it (happened to my wife).
Thanks a million Bob, I need to check that again - I turned off some stuff, but I’m sure there’s more I can do without. A pain in the ass to have to do that though when all was good before Apple’s ‘improvement’
It’s a riot. Trump is now on CNN, at some event of his in Richmond, and there were some hecklers. He said the media were disgusting because they’d only be covering the 10 or so hecklers, not the 7 thousand or so people in the audience. The same media who gave him all of his dumbass platforms is disgusting, according to him. No, Donald, you’re disgusting. You have made a mockery of our political system, and - oh by the way - I’m also wondering why you appear to be in a snit today. Is it because, last night, sane Dems showed up both you and your RWNJ ilk, at their debate? And the media covered that, too? Ugh.
You are too cool for school
I know, I know - thank you Donna :-)
don’t pamper her, dammit.
Michael Conlon has just won gold for Ireland - and Boxing Ireland managed to write a tweet with only one correctly spelt word.
Um, shouldn’t the person in charge of an org’s social media be able to spell?
I toldja, you ireesh speak english funny.
So how sure are we that the winner’s name is spelt correctlee??? :D :D
furst.
heh!!! what happened to the big picture that was there earlier? Now, I am insulted.
Wot?
nevah mind. It is bigger in the wp-admin/edit-comments page. fywp.
wwwhhhaaattt? I toldja I must be losing my mind.
Are you alright there, cherub?
I am trying to recollect the tod insult word, dammit.
Oh yeah, what was it again? Something like tuna fish or turtle head.
yesss, tuna fish….. gotta write it down somewhere.
and it took you so long ? tsk, tsk, tsk.
What is going on here amk?
Has the doctor not come around with your meds - or what????
tuna fish
It’s click bait but I love the picture of VP Joe:
Hi Donna - that is a very very good picture of our VP Joe. Is it because of a hair cut? He looks rejuvenated :-)
I’ll take the pic, any day!
I cannot stand Politico. They ” fact checked the debate ”

politico has been known to skew to the right so don’t expect their fact checks to be based on anything but innuendos.
Love this Thread.
Perfect, Chips. Also, congrats on your Au :star:
FURST :star: for Amk ;)
Not kidding here, I tried to join the Peace Corps when I was twelve :) I wanted so badly to be a part of that.
Wonderful!
fuck wolf, did he ask the same question to the loser kkklowns on the other side?
And yet, CNN kept Lessig from participating. Lessig had raised a Million plus.

Thanks Nena for sharing this. It’s absolutely spot-on!
You had one fucking job.
O…… M…… G…… unless, of course, they were paid to not, um, notice the loud hammering?
Paid - or afraid. One of them!
Ha, I think if I was guarding that fella, I’d give him the key!
I’d point to the getaway car!
gurlz. see, we men would get money to do that get that kinda treachery.
Real women can’t be bought.
touche’.
Wow. Think I’ll “retire” after that reply. Can’t get any better than that!

I’d send him off with musical accompaniment.
I’d pack some libations for his trip!
 We are chickens!!

Just typing away on the last thread:-)

That Bernie flub story is hilarious! Turned out it worked in his favor (of another sort), but … too funny.
Isn’t that something? Today, he’s toasted for that “epic line” (albeit unscripted), which turned out to be much more gracious. The original might’ve left a few people pissed off at him. Instead, he comes up roses, and a lot less like a Clinton enemy.

context
I’m telling y’all that Trump is going to be the Republican Nominee. That party is completely insane!!!!
yup, and the current shit show in DC is driving his numbers up & up. this toon nails it.
I think Trump is crazy like a fox. He knows how to play the media to get them ratings in exchange for free air time. The crazier the better, but I think he knows when to put on a serious face for the GE and out perform Hillary. That scares me. I liked Martin best.
Oh, but smart people are saying that the Trump fireworks will fizzle and an establishment GOPer will come to the fore.
Meanwhile: Trump in the high 30s in both NV and SC.
I’m beginning to think so as well Donna. Would never have believed it but then I would never have believed they can’t even get a Speaker. THE REPUGNANTS ARE ANIMALS…THEY WILL NOMINATE THE SAME!
THIS COUNTRY HAS UNFORTUNATELY EARNED THAT FOOL…THEY DON’T KNOW HOW TO TREAT A REAL PRESIDENT!
and I am outta here.
It’s not just Rubio…It’s an entire meme of the Republican party!
I know that’s right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok people, life announcement: This week I embarked on a month of (near) sobriety. Reasons? A) Main reason is to get control of my cholesterol and fatty liver. Bonne chance, LL!
Good luck to you and the missus, LL.
However, I cannot fathom a virgin Manhattan……..
Well, obviously, it’s supposed to “taste” like a Manhattan, without the whiskey and vermouth. The recipe I found got good reviews, so we’ll see.
To me, the Manhattan is about the whiskey taste. I’m fascinated - keep us informed.
LL…ALCOHOL WILL KILL YOU…IT KILLED MY DAD AND NOW IT’S DOING IT’S JOB ON MY BROTHER….DON’T DRINK…YOUR LIFE WILL CHANGE FOR THE BETTER AND YOU WILL CERTAINLY LIVE LONGER!
LL, I’m so happy for both of you and wish you all the success you both can handle! Don’t let hiccups or mis-steps deter either of you - FORWARD <3
Happy eating and best wishes to you and Mrs LL :)

THANK YOU GGAIL…I CAN HARDLY WAIT…JUST ONE MORE WINTER HERE!…:)
We’ll throw a parade for you Sue :-)
Donna, my hand is raised!
And IMO and in my mind PBO will go down as THE greatest President ever despite Republicans and stoopid Americans.
My opinion also, GGail :) THE Greatest.
Yes indeed sherijr!
Both hands waving in the air!
I HAVE ALWAYS SAID…THE BOYS NEED TO MOVE OVER ON MT. RUSHMORE!
THEY BROKE THE MOLD ON PBO…THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER!

Rusty’s reservoir of fucks is empty.
Ha, Rusty could turn in to a weapon of mass GOP destruction before he’s done!!
I just hope he doesn’t slip in some poison pills on his way out the door.
Media and ClintonCamp seem way too concerned about VP Biden. Stepped up demands that the VP “shit or get off the pot.”
My question is, If you are happy that the former Secretary did a good job in the debate (And I believe she did) then why not relax a bit.
Exactly. Thought the same thing when I saw Leon Panetta Bread out there earlier in the day. Who is he to tell the VP it’s “time,” plus everything you said.
