Sorry, just as I was about to check you off on my list I got a call from the voting supervisor. Apparently I now have to be in 1.25hrs (instead of 1hr) before poll opens to help set up the table, chairs, posters, etc. The polling station is in a school and the caretaking staff are on work to rule so won’t be doing that for us. :D

As I was ruminating, two swans floated by and I took it as a sign - even though it hasn’t been plain sailing, and you’ve often used the pesky excuse that you’re already married as a reason for delaying our wedding, we will one day find a bridge over our troubled waters, one that will lead us to the altar. Today, New Years Eve, Easter, July 4th, Christmas, birthdays and the alignment of the stars happened in one moment when “mommy” walked in the door to reclaim our little granddaughter (Oh and Daddy came, too). Such a tearful, joyful reunion, you would have thought she had been sentenced to Siberia for a week instead of being constantly entertained, loved and cuddled. Oh well, she is a one hundred percent happy camper now and by tomorrow afternoon, Mr. G and I return to the quiet routine of our elder selves and I’ll finally be able to figure out what’s happening in the world. All the thanks in the world to TOD for keeping me up to date in the spare times I had to log in. You are all the best!!!
I can just imagine “the scene.” And the dear sweet tired loving grandparents, waving at the door. Rest! <3
JO’B, I always imagine you as the voice of experience when it comes to grandchildren. And we will take your advice after they drive away tomorrow. Rest and quiet and a chance to let the old bones and sore muscles relax is my recipe for the day. The house will, however, seem very quiet.
I know the feeling. My line I give to the departing grandchildren (now ages 25 to 12) and great grandchildren is “I’ll see you when I see you,” and they say it back. In other words, their departure isn’t the big thing - it’s the fact it’s just a little diversion, and we’ll all be together again.
And then I rest for two days! Oh, and, when I spot a messy handprint on a wall or somewhere from the little ones, I let it sit for a while, after they leave. That helps keep the house from seeming so “quiet.”
And, as you know, when we see them again, it’s like they were just here the day before. We are so lucky!
recalling a time when Dem candidates were attacking then-Senator-Obama for saying that “….. cling to religion and guns”;
I could be wrong but I seem to remember one who:
- proudly joined with the gop to publicly call PBO “an elitist”;
- proudly professed how their father had taught them to shoot at a very young age and were therefore very proud of this tradition and hence much stronger and able to identify with the gun enthusiasts .
my point with this:
- we kid our selves if we hope that these contradictions are going to be forgotten by everybody - a record of these videos exist;
- unless the gop opposition is very disorganized, these are things that one can use to show inconsistence;
- I hope people are prepared to go on what could easily be a rollercoaster of denials and changes in positions based on what is expedient

I’ve never understood the spread of churches in the US. Some only have a dozen members - and then the media mega churches! We have tax exemptions for churches but it must be more difficult to get one - cause we don’t have anywhere near the numbers of the US.
It should be harder. I doubt if all of them would be “real” if the IRS were to check.

Last time I saw one of these “old” vids shared here I was trying to talk BTs into running a vintage post series but lots of other stuff was happening at the time, or I wasn’t convincing enough. Maybe now would be a good time to try again; in fact, maybe a Saturday afternoon/night would be a good time to do a weekly flashback to the time before BHO became PBO. I think it would be ‘fun and affirming’ to see again that our president’s values and stances were not pasted on or practised just for/before his elections.
Unlikely she’ll ever see these tweets & unfortunately it’s unlikely she would have the capacity to grasp the message, but ….
I could have added that #CuzImAWoman is even a more lame campaign justification than #ItsMyTurn ….
