    Now for a substantive contribution.
No. There will never be another PBO.
But as I mentioned at the end of the previous post, PBO is getting lots of world wide company in the Sane Lane.
    Welcome, Justin Trudeau.

Notice how the emoprog media is quick to use Trudeau to passive-aggressively shade PBO.

Yes. Nobody will equal Michelle Obama on style. Just to pick one obvious thing out of the thousands.
And this may be mean but I think it is necessary.
Did anybody notice what Mrs. Trudeau was wearing last night? I’m not sure if it was a dress or, what? culottes? don’t know. that is all I’m going to say.

No one will equal Michelle Obama on alot of things, she is a First Lady of style yes, but she also is a very intelligent women, who don’t get enough credit about that.

For sure Bella, the media like to only talk about women’s dress/style but some have been forced to acknowledge that FLOTUS has much more to offer over and above her most delightful style.

        October 20, 2025 at 8:51 pm

And they’ll give lots of praise to Mr. Trudeau for his progressive policies, WITHOUT acknowledging that Mr. Trudeau will operate in a parliamentary system, where he won’t have ANY legislative obstruction.

        • 15 99ts
          October 20, 2025 at 11:39 pm

It is exceedingly rare for a government in a parliamentary system to be defeated on the floor of parliament. The only time this may happen (as in Australia at the minute) is if the upper house (our senate) has a minority of government members. Then the government has to negotiate with minority parties/independents.

Trudeau has a majority & in most instances he would also have the support of the NDP. The other thing about Canada/Australia - it is relatively rare - other than on social issues - for a party member to vote against his/her party.

I don’t blame them. Get the hell out of Texas and the gun-loving-hate-mongering US of Assholes. I am sorry if I am offending people but as generous as the USA can be it always takes a tragedy like handcuffing a kid for no reason to reach out. Too little too late in my opinion and the state of Texas legislatures and authority feel they did nothing wrong. I would rather this kid go to another country then to wind up “accidently” dead by a cop or gun loving kid whose family owns a boat load of guns or get gunned down in college.

      This is unbelievable! (Not really)
Phony endorsements now——voting booths in Harlem, 2008 Primary that did not register even a single vote for Senator Obama. Thanks to Charlie Rangel ? maybe—

Plus New Hampshire, 2008 exit polls that showed a large win for Senator Obama, then a last minute swarm of drivers with Mass. plates who showed up when Mrs. Greenspan was reporting from the suddenly busy parking lot in New Hampshire. Nothing proven but certainly unusual.

I was reading in the Aug-Sept issue of Mountain Astrologer magazine about the 2016 presidential election. This person did an astrology chart for Inauguration Day 2016 and said, “This seems to indicate a presidency with strong ideals, a very compassionate approach, and a focus on health care issues and the needs of the under-privileged….this chart does not really have a Republican feel.” The author went on to say he thought it would be a long time before the Republican candidate is known.

In another article in the Oct/Nov issue of the magazine a writer indicated they felt Trump’s popularity would begin to fade in mid-November.

I personally feel the prediction for the president feels more like VPBiden than HRC, and certainly than BS or any of the Republican candidates. And one can only hope that the prediction re Trump occurs soon, although I do understand the desire to have him stick around for another few months to keep the Republicans off balance. It will be interesting to see if these predictions come true.

The entire British landscape has been shifting this year. Canada and Australia elected liberal PMs.
The Labour party in England elected a very left leader.
56 out of 59 Scottish districts chose their reps from the Scottish National Party, which is anti-war, anti-austerity and welcoming to immigrants and diversity.

Cameron is still the Big Cheese but the ground is moving beneath him. And today

Justin Trudeau told PBO that Canada would be bringing its planes home from Syria.

No we did not Vicki - see my reply to you on the last thread. Australia has an old style GOP type PM & a RWNJ government - Abbott was rolled by his party - there was no election. In the Westminster system the parliamentary party, not the people, elect the leader.

If the US had our system, John Boehner would be the PM

I read this article and it seems the Dems are planning to run on how bad the GOP is, yet again. Because that path worked so well (for the Republicans) in 2014.

The Democratic party does not want to win and have the responsibility of displeasing the Corporate Overlords. Win the WH, okay. But not the House or Senate.
Much more fun for the Dems to fill their pockets while blaming the GOP.

      • 68 prettyfoot58
        October 20, 2025 at 9:00 pm

I am beginning to believe that the DEMS just refuse to believe that the President’s way of winning using Optimism…HOPE and grass roots organizing is the way…Trudeau from Canada…just did it…

Negativity and fear may work on Republicans but it does not work for DEMS…never has…

I listened live to the victory speech of PM-elect Mr. Justin Trudeau last night.

Yes he emphasized that Canada wouldn’t be going into global conflicts in the manner PM Harper had favored and pushed.

Rather, he specified that Canada would go back to its more traditional role of engaging in the world - like peace-keeping etc.

I don’t know if I believe the story about the reports that PM-elect Mr. Justin Trudeau disclosed that he told PBO that Canadian fighter jets will be returning home from Iraq, Syria etc.

wasn’t this a private phone call between the two leaders?

I doubt if this is the first thing they would be talking and that if so, the new leader would carelessly disclose the details of the first private conversation.

I suspect that this is something that will be discussed later and not immediately reported in a public way

It seems like that justin did live up to his campaign promise.

Canadian Prime Minister-designate Justin Trudeau has confirmed he will withdraw Canadian fighter jets from the air strikes against Islamic State (IS) in Iraq and Syria.

He informed US President Barack Obama of his decision hours after leading his Liberal party to victory in the polls.

As part of his election campaign, Mr Trudeau pledged to bring home the CF-18 fighter jets that were deployed to the region until March 2016.

He has not yet given a timescale.
