I love you Mr Vice President, and you will be missed, however, i can understand the pickle that you’re in. Life is unpredictable, and one must do, what one must do :-):-)
Beautiful photo of a magnificent team- only lacking First Lady Michelle Obama to be complete. Joe would be an excellent president, but whatever he has decided to do, he will be an asset to us all. I just have to trust his wisdom, and that of our president, in shaping the next stage of the country’s progress. Still, feeling sad.
… As my POTUS said post the 2010 mid-term GOP super storm, we have a lot of work to do.
My anxiety is now over. I will be forever grateful to my VP for supporting my POTUS unconditionally. While I am coming to grief with his decision, I am also reminded that danger looms at the door.
I must remain vigilant and do all that I must to prevent a takeover of the WH by any one of the 16 Republican fools running for the presidency. I will use my fear of them to motivate me so that I do all that I can to block them in November 2016.
As my VP repeated today and as my POTUS says all the time, in the name of the middle class, we need to move #FORWARD.
I will hoist a few for you GG tonite along with the many I plan to hoist for myself. I was literally screaming the F word in the car on the way to the office this am listening to KNX 1070….
Hell, I’ll be playing Patsy Cline’s I Fall to Pieces on a continuous loop…. while giving some really serious thought/planning on become an expatriate. Living abroad, is no longer just a wishful bucket list item; might be a necessity :-(
Hahahahaha!
I’ve already laid plans for my future living arrangements with VC. She has space we could covert into additional rooms, we would have to become reacquainted with cold weather, snow up to your nips and hibernation for 10 months out of 12, other than that, Canada is the place for the future :D
Damn PSLA, now I’ve got that song playing in my head and I’m still at work - oh damn!!!!
Funny that you mention Canada. My CFO is a Canadian citizen and has been talking about moving to Vancouver when he retires. He says it’s beautiful up there and told me to check it out. It’s been so unseasonably hot here for so long, cold weather might be a welcome change. Heavy sigh…
Having lived in Detroit and had a family cabin in Canada, I am familiar with the beautiful snow, but driving in inches of it and then trying to walk pigeon-toed on ice to keep from falling is no pretty sight, but with that said, I will be doing very little of that when I retire and move there with VC :-)
I know, I’m just kidding myself. I grew up in the Boston area, winters were BRUTAL. Then being a glutton for punishment went back there for college after the family moved out to the West Coast. That last winter in my senior yr in college cured me of living/working in cold weather/blizzard like conditions permanently. Double heavy sigh. Maybe Belize.
So VC has some space? Putting in my fallback reservation. My first choice is St Kitts; had considered building a 4-plex there several years ago, but didn’t because my Mom didn’t want me to move. If things get to be more than I can tolerate, she’ll either have to suck it up and move with me or get left behind… Life is too short to put up with unadulterated BS…
Pleeease, Gx2, no exaggeration! Hibernation is voluntary, and there’s absolutely no reason for you to lie in snow (so that it gets to your nips)! You do have some weird ideas at times. smh
No problemo; you can come for the warm weather, then (if you are really too wimpy to take on a snowball fight) retire to St. Kitts during winter. ;) Like our own snowbirds who hang out in Florida.
It truly seems as if most every democrat thinks that President Barack Obama is an impossible act to follow & they don’t even want to try.
I just hate to say it - but it is in my brain - imagine if congress had supported PBO in the way they supported EVERY GOP President that is elected. Imagine if the media told the truth rather than LIE to support every republican and LIE to bring down every democrat.
I DIDN’T EXPECT JOE TO RUN…HE HAS GIVEN HIS ENTIRE LIFE TO PUBLIC SERVCE DESPITE ALL THE TRAGEDIES IN HIS FAMILY…ENOUGH IS ENOUGH…LET HIM GRIEVE AND I’M GLAD THE PRESIDENT WAS WITH HIM…FRANKLY..I DON’T WANT JOE TO BE HARRASSED BY A SICK SOCIETY AS PBO HAS BEEN…IT’S SHAMEFUL…I’M GLAD HE’S NOT RUNNING! HE DOESN’T NEED THE TRASH THAT IS GOING TO BE TOSSED IN THIS ELECTION!…HE WILL HOWEVER…NOT BE SILENT! WE WILL HEAR FROM JOE IN THIS ELECTION!
You know, Sue, last night I was reading a lot of negative comments about Joe Biden on Twitter and it made me so very sad. It was awful and I am very glad for him, that he did not have to go through a negative campaign without Beau there to support him.
My heart is indeed heavy at the VPJoe news, while at the same time, I hear his position.
As a political ignoramus, I have two serious questions.
1. What would happen if in the next year there is a major tragedy (thinking more along the lines of health/ family issues) in the Crowned One’s life and she chooses/has to withdraw?
2. Could her spot *only* be filled by someone already in the Dem. primaries, or could the campaign be opened up?
Although we’re known as the “United States,” each state sets its own deadlines for candidate filings.
Think a Southern state has the earliest deadline (sometime this month, IIRC), whereas California (with the most delegates, proportioned according to percentage of votes received) primary is not until June. Don’t know the filing deadline for candidates, but it’s probably sometime next year — recall back in 2003 our Governor ballot had over 100 (!) names after Gray Davis was recalled (replaced by Arnie) — that was such a fiasco, Arianna Huffington bowling over anyone in her way if there was a TV camera nearby.
Anyhoo, this is why David Plouffe was such a genius — his strategy was based on 50 different states rules and the demographics of countless voting precincts (which are smaller than US zip code boundaries) to ensure Barack Obama’s 2008 primary victory.
IOW, if it became absolutely necessary, Dems *could* have a late addition to the primary process (and we wouldn’t be stuck with any of the current runners-up)?????
It *is* possible for VP to become Dem nominee — at a brokered (deadlocked) convention, meaning if Ms. Inevitable doesn’t get enough delegates to win on the first ballot (unlikely given O’Malley’s weakness and Sanders’ focus on “white working class).
#RidinWithBiden folks should work to get O’Malley more delegates (and unfortunately more money — after Citizens United money is top dog) — if O’Malley and Sanders can keep Ms. Inevitable from winning nomination before the DNC (in July I think), then the second ballot would be up for grabs.
This was the anticipated scenario when RFK ran for President in 1968 — so much horribleness with his assassination, coupled with his winning CA primary the night he was murdered (back then CA was winner-take-all, which gave him a huge nudge in delegate count). :(
Our Federal election laws need changing! Vote on a National Holiday, all filing deadlines on the same date, voting with one ballot for all Federal Officials, voting rights consistent, same rules for the length of time to vote, etc. It would be for President, VP, Senate and House. But only is we get another Progressive Dem President and a majority proof House and Senate.
KNOCK,,,KNOCK,,,PAKISTAN CERTAINLY KNOWS ENOUGH ABOUT TERRORIISM…THEY HIDE MOST OF THEM THERE…THAT COUNTRY IS A MASK FOR A TERRORIST GATEWAY…PRETTY MUCH THE TRAP DOOR TO THE BASEMENT!
I’m surprised going 85 isn’t legal in Texas. It is in WY. Yes I know its 88, but a DeLorean, wouldn’t get stopped unless the Patrol wanted to see the car. 🎃
the VP not running is quite a blow…altho at the back of my mind i felt he may not run….if the VP had chosen to run…it would have been like we could hold onto the President just a lil longer….PBO means so much to us….
don’t know what to do now,,,,feeling a bit numb..
You make a good point. For a lot of us, seeing the VP become POTUS would have been as if a part of PBO was still in office.
At the same time, Joe would not have been PBO and I am not sure he could have lived up to a lot of our expectations of him. But then again, no one could ever really fill those shoes.
We will have been witness to an amazing 8 years of having a President who was totally remarkable in just about every way imaginable.
Joe and PBO, and Dr. Jill and Michelle were exceptional in so many ways and I wouldn’t be surprised if the special relationships they created continue in many special ways in the coming years.
Good evening, TOD. Like most of you, I am absolutely heartbroken. Blessing of being so busy today is that I didn’t get the news until around 3:00 PM… After dinner tonight, I’ll sit down and write the VP a letter; hopefully, it won’t be tear stained. I’ll be voting for the Dem nominee; however, any work for the Dem nominee will be as a result of my campaign efforts for state and congressional candidates. Like I said; heartbroken. Feel like there has been a death in the family…
New HVAC system is installed and working. The guys finished about 3:00 pm, only to find that no matter what they did, the second stage fan wouldn’t work. Their resident expert showed up at 5:00 and had it working by 6:00; just needed a little tweaking — loose screw or something. I was really impressed with their work ethic and customer service. While they were here, a neighbor came up and asked if he could pull one of the guys away for a moment — another neighbor’s hot water tank sprung a leak and he could find a shut-off valve; she had a call in to there company for emergency service, however, the basement was filling with water. One of my workers was halfway down the block when the service truck pulled up. Made me even more comfortable with choosing this company. They were not the best estimate, however, I chose them based on my promise to the late owner that when I was in the market for new, he’d have my business. About 15 years ago, the owner started a program call “Heat for the Holidays.” Folks can nominate a needy family for a new furnace system. I’ve nominated folks every year, as a result not only do five families in my community have new furnaces; a half dozen more have gotten free repairs or tune-ups. I like supporting businesses that give back to the community…
Oh jazziz2 I feel like you do. I was at the Dentist and was late hearing the news. Then I was stressed and needed to relax and I guess the Novocain made me sleepy. Now trying to catch up.
I’m glad your HVAC is now installed. How wonderful for a company like that! ?? That’s paying it forward.
May I use part of the story on a page called “Pay it Forward?” It would be posted on 11/4/15. May I use jazziz2 to credit you?
guess i’m not the only one who is thinking the “inevitable one” is unelectable nationally:
Enjoy the Republican administration in the White House come 2017 everyone.
— AlGiordano (@AlGiordano) October 21, 2025
some evidence for this claim…who gets excited by this?!?!? (note this video is put up by her fans since they think it makes her look good…shaking my damn head…):
The bumble-bee suit! As insulting as that was to PBO/Obots, then and now, I found it hilarious because I KNEW we were going to kick her ass! Think I’ve mentioned it before, the night of the SC primary, I was on a jazz cruise. When Mark Penn poo-poo the SC win and declared it would be “…all over Super Tuesday, because winner take all…” I knew then and there that we were going to win because Hil’s staff didn’t understand the Dem process that was essentially written FOR HER, BY HER COHORTS! I publically declared there and then that as soon as I got off the ship I was booking a flight to Denver for the convention; and I did!
i see neil degrease tyson twitted today. he’s never mentioned #astronomynight at the white house at all, but man, is he ever excited about “back to the future day.” twitting out all the things the movie predicted for today. someone should ask him if the movie predicted that someone who lied to get a job specifically to steal united states secrets, then run off with them to russia’s murderous dictator, would then be called a “patriot” by a well-known scientist.
I missed the announcement real-time. Friend e-mailed me with her thoughts, which is the first time I heard the news. I’m just so glad I didn’t see the announcement pop-up on the teevee without warning! Not sure when I’ll be able to watch the video, but it’s not tonight.
So glad for our Vice President that he made a decision right for him, without being rushed. I wish him and his family all the best, particularly in this next year when we’re all watching their every move! Love the Bidens as much as I love the Obamas, and it’s a privilege to be alive in the age of Obama.
My “campaign” plans for 2016 are to donate to down-ticket candidates and vote next November. That’s pretty much it. Oh, and I sent off a little thank you note to the “DraftBiden” folks - they kept the dream alive! We absolutely MUST keep a Democrat in the White House for the next 30 years - ANY Democrat. #VOTEDEM2016
God bless you, Joe! You’ll be fine. Some of the rest of us who wished for brighter days ahead … well, we’ll hang tough. We’re Obamabots, after all!
You said it, JO’B. This has been a very tough day. The sadness and heartbreak are going to be with us for a while but we do have 14 months to savor each and every day of PBO and VPB. They’ve given us so much.
Finally there seems to be some media traction on the blatant partisan agenda which now is the Benghazi hearings. Yes, the attacks warranted an investigation, but not a continuous inflammatory circus. This article compares the current hoopla to the hearings about Iran-Contra, interviewing journalists who were there.
Worldwide grief. Have just come in and heard this, need to go out into the setting sun, and howl from the rooftop. God Bless you VP Biden, we are yours anyway. <3
I saw the sad news on the school bus when I checked today. I have say, that like most everyone here, I’m sad for our country, but content in the fact that this was a decision that he alone made with his family…I love you, Joe Biden. Thank you for serving your country so faithfully and unselfishly for these many years. Men like him don’t come around too often and we were blessed, and still are, to have this man serving in public office. Thank you just isn’t enough.
He will not be silenced and I like it like that. If he ran, it would have to watch every word and worry about always being PC…I like the VP Biden that says what he thinks, unfiltered and unapologetic. He will go on to do great things…along with our President…they will not be silenced, and this is more than great news…the freedom to speak out. loud and often. This is the Joe Biden that I want to see in the coming years…
I said that I wanted him to run, but I would respect his decision. I have to respect that he chose not to run for President now…it hurts, but if it makes him happy, then I am happy for him. I feel like he deserves that.
No one, ever again in my lifetime, will match PBO/VP Biden for me. No one. I would have worked my ass off for him, like I did for PBO….I honestly can’t say that I will put in the kind of time for anyone else. That said, I will do the work that I can to make sure that Dems are elected…we have to continue to work hard for the men that worked so hard for us. I will not let all this hard work be for naught. We need Dems to win and win big…our very lives really do depend on that happening.
I’m so sad
Congratulations Allison on first.
Whaaaa, ooooow, maaaah, lorrrrrrd, wha we goin to do, help, loooooord, waaaah, no Joe!!!!, no Joe? no Joe, what you mean no Joe, please go away
Is this the complete speech? Wish I were still at the dentist. Is there Novocain for broken hearts?
Planning to go the Gin route myself tonight…
I understand. Box of wine for me. 💔
Only Hugs ((((((((Carol)))))))

Congratulations, Allison
Say it ain’t so Joe, say it ain’t so. 😪 💔
I love you Mr Vice President, and you will be missed, however, i can understand the pickle that you’re in. Life is unpredictable, and one must do, what one must do :-) :-)

If I drank, I would drown in some beer tonight and play some sad country n western songs

What part of Detroit, GGail? I grew up there and my son is living downtown now.
You do have some weird ideas at times. smh
VC, please save space for me… ;-)
No problemo; you can come for the warm weather, then (if you are really too wimpy to take on a snowball fight) retire to St. Kitts during winter. ;) Like our own snowbirds who hang out in Florida.
THANK YOU, VC! Of course, if I do build in St Kitts, you all can hang out with me during the northern winters…
Sounds like a sound plan!

BTW, do you cook? I don’t.
Do I cook? Just sat down to a dinner of Chicken Wellington, julienned veggies and roasted red potatoes…
Yeah, but the question is - did *you* cook them? I could, and would, eat all that BuT would/could I prepare them? No.
Yes, I did! :-)
:D Well, ‘come on down’! Yes, I do know it should be ‘up’ from where you are. :D :D
LOL. By the way, when I prepare dinner for two or more, THE COOK DOSEN’T DO DISHES! ijs…
O, that’s no problem - the dish washer doesn’t mind doing the dishes! ;) ;)
I will drink with you in spirit purpleshoes!
{{{{{{{{ Betsy}}}}}}}} Damn, where’s that huckleberry vodka when you REALLY need it!!!
Oh Yea!!!! I would even smell/sip a martini with y’all :-)
Hi Betsy <3
It would be nice if PBO and VP Joe could team up and work together on their issues after they are out of office.
You know, Sue, last night I was reading a lot of negative comments about Joe Biden on Twitter and it made me so very sad. It was awful and I am very glad for him, that he did not have to go through a negative campaign without Beau there to support him.
Totally agree Betsy. He and his family doesn’t need that kind of negativity right now. Lot of the folks doing this are so-called Democrats
You are right which makes it even worse.
Michael J. Fox has dual citizenship; Canadian-American
I love that tweet - “Mr President” - he’s always said that very well :)
My heart is indeed heavy at the VPJoe news, while at the same time, I hear his position.

Very well-said JO’B! I echo all your sentiments.
{{{hf2}}} - Hugs for all of us!
Awww..thanks and I agree. The biggest TOD hug for you! {{{{{{{JO’B}}}}}}}
You said it, JO’B. This has been a very tough day. The sadness and heartbreak are going to be with us for a while but we do have 14 months to savor each and every day of PBO and VPB. They’ve given us so much.
So true, meta. And we can return the love for 14 months - and then some!
The media is playing same role in Benghazi as it did in McCarthy era: lapping up lies doled out by GOP for “scoops.”

Is anybody else sick of hearing about Benghazi and the idiotic self-inflicted email server BS?? Honestly, sick of it.
Worldwide grief. Have just come in and heard this, need to go out into the setting sun, and howl from the rooftop. God Bless you VP Biden, we are yours anyway. <3
Ryan wants at least 80%. The FreedomC is at about 70%. I am sure that Ryan will get them by Friday….if not Thursday.
New post.

We need Dems to win and win big…our very lives really do depend on that happening.
xoxoxoxox…Love you, VP BIden!
