Dr. Carson was Black and Poor back when the Government programs he took advantage of would actually make a difference.
He was given chances to work through his behavioral problems and see the light and live up to the potential that others saw in him.
He went to school back when being Black, Poor and Smart, meant that you went free.

I should add: the 22K figure is just stuff for which he have the technology to track. Include stuff which is too small to pick up, and it shoots up to 200K pieces of space debris.

When the French president finally got to meet the courageous French knight, he publicly and internationally embraced Eugene Bullard as a true hero.
When he died a year later, On October, 12, 1961, he was laid to rest with full honors by the Federation of French War Officers.
It would take his own country 33 years, but on August 23, 1994, Eugene Bullard was posthumously commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force.
Bullard “was a man who hesitated to speak of himself but one who stood on the principles of honesty and integrity. He treated everyone as he wished to be treated . . . He lived by the belief that all men were created equal and should be treated accordingly,” according to William I. Chivalette, Curator at the Air Force Enlisted Heritage Research Institute.
He is remembered for painting a red bleeding heart pierced by a knife on the fuselage of his plane. Below the heart was the inscription “Tout le Sang qui coule est rouge!” which translates to “All Blood Runs Red.”

Thank you, Jazziz2, for sharing this story of one of the many African American heroes who have been overlooked, sometimes purposely, by history. Sadly, February, the shortest month of a year, is not sufficient to cover all the neglected history of African American heroism and achievement.

Oh thank you for this Alycee! I have a secret goal to get my Ph.D in Cosmology one day, even if I’m 99 when I do it! I’ve joked (half-joked) that two things I would like to accomplish before I leave this earth are a Ph.D in Cosmology and to become a turntablist and learn how to scratch and transform on the wheels of steel, 1980s style :-) (even if they have to call me DJ Granny)
