G’morning Chips, TOD, lurkers, even amk, and congrats Chips on #1! :) Happy Sunday everyone. I guess everyone is still sleeping, plus it’s dark on the East Coast due to rain. People are still thinking it’s nighttime, turning over in bed for another 2-hr sleep….

If Dr. Ben Carson really believes that Medicare should go away I wished we would have said so to his employer John Hopkins Hospital at the time, I’m sure they would have embraced his vocal opposition towards Medicare. This guy is a complete asshole, only now after making millions from Medicare does he wish it to go away.

AMK, I do tell people this and you know what the reaction is? “That’s not true!” “They don’t really mean it!” “It wouldn’t affect me!” These are actual quotes and it’s convinced me that people who want to believe something will simply close their minds, ears, eyes to the truth even if it hits them in the face.

One of the things that most irritates me about the endless presidential election cycles is that they push people to live in the future, instead of the present. Here we have the best president that we will ever have in our lifetimes and we’re thinking about the next one, rather than savoring the moments with the one we have. The Democratic meetings I attend drive me nuts with the endless speculation as if we all were living in a future, rather than a present tense. Voters in Pa don’t even have a chance to voice their opinion until May of 2016, so I’m resolving to set aside concerns about who comes next and focus on what is right now.

It irritates me as well, Jackie, I can’t even go on twitter without being bombarded with talk of the next election cycle. He have in our midst one of the truly great Presidents of our lifetime and we’re being told somehow that Hillary is the one we’ve been waiting for.

Even without the primaries there is still months of campaigning in the US - in the “not US” world - Canada just had the longest ever campaign of 12 weeks. Our last campaign was 4 weeks.

THE HELL! America, wake the fuck up!

    http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2015/10/24/iowa-poll-carson-seen-electable-trump-change-agent/74552624/

DES MOINES, Iowa — Likely Republican caucusgoers in Iowa can agree on one thing about this field of 15 presidential candidates: Donald Trump has a huuuuuge ego.

Better than three-quarters of respondents in the latest Des Moines Register/Bloomberg Politics Iowa Poll say Trump is the most ego-driven candidate in the race.

Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, meanwhile, is the most electable, the most presidential, the most pragmatic and the most trustworthy with his finger on the nuclear button — all characteristics befitting a candidate now leading the GOP horse race in Iowa.

But the news isn’t all bad for Trump, who fell to second in two polls of likely caucus attendees last week. The real estate mogul is still seen as the party’s best hope for bringing about real change, the Iowa Poll shows, and that may be the most important qualification for a Republican candidate in this period of political frustration and disaffection.

Fall in lockstep and agree with him, or else. How democratic of them…Ugly nativist group….which is all Trump supporters really are.

    http://thinkprogress.org/immigration/2015/10/24/3715850/video-shows-immigration-protester-dragged-across-the-ground-and-kicked-at-trump-rally/

Video captured by a local TV reporter in Miami shows a man who disagrees with GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump’s immigration policies being violently ejected from a Trump campaign event. In the video, an unidentified white man wearing a red polo shirt is seen pulling another man identified as a protester by the back of his shirt. When the protester falls to the ground, the man in the polo shirt then drags him along the floor towards the room’s exit. Towards the end of the video, the polo-shirted man appears to kick the protester while the protester is still lying on the ground.
As this protester is being dragged out of the room, the crowd around him loudly chants “U-S-A! U-S-A!”

      October 25, 2025 at 9:57 am

Trump was reportedly interrupted several times by protesters during his appearance at the Trump National Doral Miami resort. At one point, he appeared to endorse the use of violent tactics against these protesters. “See the first group, I was nice. Oh, take your time,” Trump said of the protesters. “The second group, I was pretty nice. The third group, I’ll be a little more violent. And the fourth group, I’ll say get the hell out of here!”

Not Presidential…represent ALL the people?? I think not.

So Tony Blair apologized for his part in Iraq war…shouldn’t his buddy and partner in crime, GWB, quit being a damn coward and do the same? Mind you, too little, too late…but he should acknowledge his gigantic fuckup…Oh, who am I kidding,,,they never own anything they do wrong!

    • 96 99ts
      October 25, 2025 at 10:26 am

Blair has yet to apologise for lying - to his country and the world. Mumbling that he was apologising “for the fact that the intelligence we received was wrong,” Suddenly the royal plural - like Blair wasn’t the only one mislead.

If Blair hadn’t supported Bush in such an open and 100% way, there would not have been an invasion of Iraq. Bush could not do it alone. Blair was a labor man - politician supposedly supporting the people, the anti Thatcher man - I can still remember my horror when he came out in support of GWB and the invasion of Iraq. Did not expect it at all.

But, you are right - he has back tracked more than GWB.

wonder if joe biden really was contemplating running, or if he knew all along he wasn’t running and let the announcement linger to take the spotlight off the republican nut jobs and have people talk more about democrats. since democrats aren’t doing many debates and were losing the attention-getting game, i could see joe doing something such as this. whatever the case, he succeeded in giving the democratic primary a needed boost.

This is how the establishment will slowly start making the way for Jeb…I’m not worried about Ben Carson. He’s pandering with extremist rhetoric just to raise $$$ for himself, because he’s smart enough to know that he will NEVER be the GOP nominee, let alone President-elect 2016.
