Good morning TOD folks! That smile is worth a million heart flutters.
Good Morning TOD
An incredible story:
A man from nearby Cross Lanes repeatedly called 911 that same day and asked for help with his drug addiction before dispatchers finally sent Kanawha County sheriff’s deputies to his home.
He placed his hands on the wall when deputies arrived, and he told them that he had watched TV coverage of the president’s speech and asked for help.
GM TOD. Wow, Donna this is very profound.
I love this story. Our president has touched so many lives. I thank God every single day that we have him in our lives.
Ryan has reached 218. Joy.
did boner cry?
so after all those temper tantrums, all that the teanutz got was a speaker they hate even more and a two year budget deal the kenyan wanted. win!!!
I’m still nervous about what the Senate will do. Budget deal still has to pass the Senate. I have also been upset that no one - the alleged “liberal” media - bothered to remind people that Ryan singlehandedly put us on the brink of disaster during one of the budget showdowns.
Boehner was always known for being notoriously lazy. He never wanted to work hard as Speaker. Ryan is a believer.
Oh, I am sure it will pass the senate, though not with the drama of some last minute shenanigans from mcturtle. The wingnuts like bible baboon, aqua buddha, water boy will be sidelined (trying to be prezinent will be a convenient excuse) and the dems need not worry till 2017. After that, it is up to the lazy ass voters to give the dem prez the house and the senate if they want to get anything done.
Mitch doesn’t want any trouble. It will pass.
LET THE MUNSTER FUN BEGIN!!!!!
Congrats Vetiveraaaaa :-)
Good Morning TODVille,
It’s almost Halloween.
I BET HE CAN’T WAIT TO GET TO FLORIDA AND THAT NEW CONDO!…AND SOME ICE…AND SOME………………….
Secretly I think that the Republicans want their own version of a Barack Obama.
Secretly?!? :)
It was too late for me yesterday. Fool!
This guy has to beg people to come out and see him.
how could 50 million people be so, so stupid?
Well because the President was going to come and take their guns and put the god fearing people of this country under Sharia Law.
My question too. How is that possible?
Partly thanks to the power of a biased media to keep people ignorant. The average person doesn’t know what people on this blog know.
Hello and good Thursday to all of you TOD.
Very bad news here in our neck of the woods- my 16 yr old son was attacked on our light rail system yesterday on the way home from school. So I am in a bad state. He is okay basically. Not badly hurt, thank goodness. he was sitting on the light rail, which he has to take twice a day to and from school, like thousands of other Baltimore kids. He was with three female classmates and was suddenly punched in the cheek without warning, without any words/ confrontation; etc. After he fell on the floor from the punch he was then kicked and stomped by these three guys- who my son & his friends think were from another school.. they were then forced to get off the light rail by other kids.. He lost all his belongings- the police did find his phone but it was completely torn to pieces. All his school work/ calculator- everything is gone. I’ve called the school, MTA (transit authority) the Mayor’s office and a tv/ radio station. I’m not done calling, because I am appalled and feel very powerless for my son right now. The Mayor’s office told me to call the Gov’s office as they “own” the MTA. Lots of sympathy, but no answers as to how our kids can be kept safer. This cannot happen again. My son has never experienced violence of any sort- never been in a fight or had a vverbal or physical confrontation. One of the girls with him was so distraught she couldn’t stop crying. And they all had to get back on that train again this morning.
I don’t know what else to do. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thank you. Got to go out for a while, thanks for letting me vent. Take care.
Terribly sorry… that is so traumatic for your son and for your family. We have got to find a way to make the world safer especially for young people.
I agree Bill, we have got to, our kids have to get to and from school safely period. One hurt is too many. Thank you.
So so so sorry to hear this awful news! Please be strong and hug your son. I will ponder what else should be done..I need to think on it.this is insane
oh thank you df, I appreciate that. And yes hugging lots.
Sorry to hear that, sheri. Hopefully he will be able to get over this with your support. My best wishes to him.
thank you Amk, I will pass on your wishes to my son.
Oh no, sherijr! I can’t imagine the horror and anger you and your son feel at this unprovoked and senseless attack. This is a terribly traumatic experience and I send you both a TON of healing and hope for a solution for your son to be able to feel safe again. I only wish there was something we could to do help.
I have been heartbroken for him meta. For him, a true loss of innocence and comfortability is gone. One of the girls with him, only 15, was very distraught. It was all ccompletely senseless, we - they have no clue why this happened. It’s insane. You have helped me, and that matters because honestly this really shook me to my bones. But I feel we ccan’t just heal and let it go, the next child could be severely injured.
I completely understand. It’s about the broader communities we inhabit every day and the very basic need for safety and security. I really am so sad for that loss of innocence, when a young person experiences such a violation of the spirit completely out of the blue and without provocation. Then to steal his backpack, the stuff he needs for school as well has his phone, this is just a horrible shock to the system. I can’t imagine being in your shoes. Please let us know if there is any good response from any of the agencies you’ve contacted. {{{{sherijr}}}}
I will keep you all informed. And you stated how he/ we feel so very eloquently, thank you, (((((meta)))))
Terrible experience for a peaceful young person. A mother’s worry is never done. My sympathies to you and your son and all kids who have to deal with bullies. Self defence courses also help to restore confidence and teach how and when to react. Government will do nothing, can do nothing for the individual.
Both my adult sons have now offered self defense classes to my son.. eledest son is willing to cover the cost.. and youngest son is agreeable to checking them out. Thank you vetivera.
That’s wonderful. I hope it inspires a sense of safety and lovely that his brothers are so supportive.
so sorry that this has happened to your son….many trains have surveillance equipment on trains….perhaps that could help with finding out who the attackers were….
here in Philadelphia….communities have set up safe corridors to keep children safe to and from school…maybe setting something up like “safe train”…talk to the parent group at your school and the community or church groups in your neighborhood..because something like this could happen to any of the children…
wishing you and your son well… ((huggs)
I am still going to ccall the gov’s office PF and will absolutely bring up the “safe train” idea, thank you so much. Yes there was video cameras on the train and the cops are checking into them. crossed fingers on that.
goood luck to you…enlist the help of other parents…there is strength in numbers
I completely agree and will do my best on that.
Someone had to see something, Sherijr, I’m sure the rail systems has cameras that recorded this incident. If I were you I would continue calling the mayor’s office and the department of transportation, and the police department. You should go down to the police station and make a report and continue to follow up on it. The kids that attacked your child more than likely did it to another child before, and they are known to other kids that ride the rail system. Good luck to you and your son, Sherijr.
Thank you Don, yes the whole car was full of kids from another school- they all saw and in fact one girl actually video taped with her phone. The police are checking out the video on the train car itself- and hopefully will find something.. They warned us the video is usually poor quality on these light rail ccameras. I called the radio/ tv station asking if they would put out an appeal to the girl who recorded with her phone… they might do so. I agree this may have happened before.. and I do believe it well may happen again.. this is why I’m not going to be quiet. All three girls that were with my son gave all the info they had to the police too.. The girls were especially traumatized by it.
Unbelievably horrendous ordeal that your son had to go through, sherijr. I’m so sorry and hope something can be done. Let us know how it progresses, please.
Thank you Jo’b I will keep you all informed definitely.
We’ll be thinking of you. <3
thank you :)
Sheri, are you familiar with http://www.sisterssavingthecity.com/ ? They may be able to guide you to the “right” points of contact, provide recommendations for counselors, etc. I personally know the founder, Kathryn; you can tell her Alycee in PA referred you.
Just got home Alycee and will check it out, thank you so, so much.
Sherjr, my heart aches for you. Nothing is more enraging than having your own child attacked and for no reason whatsoever. Does the MTA have cameras in their cars. If the thugs could be identified or traced to another school, they could be arrested and charged. Young people who do this need to see that there are consequences-otherwise it continues to spiral.
Thank you Jackie, yes to cameras and the police are on that, so that is good news, all they asked is that we be willing to testify if these guys get found… son is more than willing. My son and his friends believe they came from another school and passed that on to both the police, the Mayor’s office , the radio/ tv station and to my son’s school. I do not want to let this go.
Oh my goodness sherijr, I am so sorry to hear this about your son.
thank you COS ~
{{Sherijr}}, I’m so sorry this happened to your son. My thoughts and prayers for you, your son, and his friends. Unfortunately, i don’t have any answers.
that’s okay and thank you sjterrid. :)
Oh no, sherijr, Loving thoughts and prayers for you all. _/|\_ <3 No one needs this, ever.
thank you MP, very much appreciate that.
sherijr, so very sorry to hear about your son and his friends. It’s so wrong on so many levels. Don’t these trains have cameras? I hope those thugs are arrested. Bless!
thank you Gazelle, yes they do have cameras. We’re waiting for the results on that from the police.
France mocks Jeb Bush over ‘bombastic nonsense’ about the country’s work week.
http://www.rawstory.com/2015/10/france-mocks-jeb-bush-over-bombastic-nonsense-about-the-countrys-work-week/
When Republican presidential candidate and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush called out Sen. Marco Rubio at the third GOP debate Wednesday night, he may have insulted a nation. Bush, attacking Rubio for missing a string of Senate votes, said his rival needed to show up to work — which he said wasn’t that hard, given the Senate’s “French work week.” But CNBC reported his comment didn’t sit well with the French ambassador to the United States, Gérard Araud.
Araud took to Twitter Wednesday night to defend the idea of a French work week, a tradition adopted in 2000 that sets the legal maximum of employee hours at 35. He noted that despite the requirement, French people spend an average of 39.6 hours a week — less than the Germans, who work 39.2.
And all this time I’ve been following the French work week model, I mean I’m scheduled to work five days a week but I don’t work on Mondays and Fridays because hey, its a Monday and a Friday. USA! USA! USA!
About the economy
My old thing was..
I’m paying more for a gallon of milk than I am a gallon of gas….
Now, I have to say..
I’m paying more for a DOZEN EGGS than I am a gallon of gas…this is CRAZY!
So am I rikyrah! Gas prices are coming down and the price of eggs seem to be going up!
nope, you ain’t, you insolent pos.
LOL.
lmao. I don’t know if this true or a photoshop. Either way, hilarious.
Not from last night, anyway…… ;)
Trump had red stripped tie on :)
Good Morning TOD Family!
An overcast, cool morning here in my neck of the woods…no renegade blimp sightings as yet.
I told myself I was going to hold my nose and try and check out the debate light night. Then my friend called and asked if I would come by and give her a haircut! And of course I couldn’t say no! LOL! I took it as a sign that it was not meant for me to see any Republican “debate” ever.
Going to see this documentary Rosenwald this weekend at The Center for Contemporary Arts in Santa Fe. One of those stories that many people aren’t aware of.
ROSENWALD
“Critic’s Pick … rich and fascinating.” –New York Times
After Julius Rosenwald—the uneducated son of an immigrant peddler who became the president of Sears—read the writings of educator Booker T. Washington, he went on a mission: to work with African American communities to build schools. And he did, more than 5,300 during the Jim Crow, pre-Civil Rights era. His support of African American intellectuals and artists left a powerful legacy, with Marian Anderson, James Baldwin, Ralph Bunche, W. E. B. DuBois, Katherine Dunham, Ralph Ellison, Langston Hughes, Zora Neale Hurston, Gordon Parks, Jacob Lawrence and many others given funds to pursue their work. The award-winning filmmaker Aviva Kempner tells Rosenwald’s forgotten story. (U.S., 2015, 90m, DCP)
Starts October 30

As always, thanks to everyone here for keeping us informed and sane.
Eddie Munster is Speaker of the House, although, technically, Nancy Pelosi is Speaker for Life.
I might have to buy some chocolate for me - not just the trick or treaters! Ugh.
Not for nothing, but I love being a full-grown blog tyrant on TPV. Just showed a Sandernista the door. Was going to let him continue to make posts, until he said that Bernie, unlike PBO, “got it”.
I am officially obsessed with the new Star Wars movie. I had to find a way to justify watching the trailer repeatedly, so I’ve spent the morning watching ‘ reaction videos to the trailer’ on Youtube….I need help..LOL
_/|\_
As I tweeted a couple of weeks ago: If you’re not aching to find out how that Star Destroyer wound up crashed on Tatooine, you are no true Star Wars geek.
The cousin that I raised on Star wars and other Sci-fi fare scored tickets for us on 12/18. He is also bringing his daughter that is being raised to follow the ways of the Force. Cannot wait to geek out with the Fam!
YESSSSSS, that is something I can’t wait to know the answer to. I’m geeked big time.
Rikyrah, join the club, I’m in DEEP when it comes to Star Wars. Just yesterday I must have watched all three trailers twenty times each.
<3
PERFECT…………………….WHAT A CLUSTERMUCK!..ADULT DAYCARE NEEDED…DO NOT LEAVE THESE PEOPLE UNSUPERVISED!
gunnite folks.
How totally wonderful!
interesting
I’m glad to see that all officers don’t believe that the answer to every situation is their gun or using force.
*******UPDATE and GREAT news: Husband’s surgery was CANCeruELLED! When doctor came to in to talk with him before taking him to surgery and learned how well he’s been doing for past 3-4 weeks-no pain or numbness or tingling and walking 4, 5, or even 8 miles-doctor said, “Not wise to ‘mess’ with a good thing.” Obviously, if he begins to have problems again, we will rethink and do what needs to be done. This doctor (again) pointed out that he doesn’t make $$$$ by NOT doing surgery, but this doctor is one of the few (I believe) who does the right thing. He said he had this happen to another man a number of years ago. Didn’t hear from him for a few years, then when he did, the problem was not lower back but neck/uppper back so he did surgery for that.
Anyway, thanks for the prayers and support. We are home and are going to go out for his birthday lunch and celebrate!!!! :) :)
***sheri, SO very sorry about your son. (((HUGS)))
oops…….no idea how CANCELLED got messed up. :)
Great News….. :-D
What a great outcome that really does call for celebration!
How great is that!
That is great news tnmtngirl.
Wonderful news TN. I hope the two of you get to celebrate tonight!!!
OUTSTANDING!
Wonderful new that your husband didn’t need the back surgery. I will keep him in my prayers for his continued progress in his recovery.
So happy for you!
Now that’s a Good Idea!
HEY!….HAY…HAY…HAY…………….THE ONLY ONE I KNOW WHO ENJOYS BEING TOLD TO STUFF IT!

Good day TOD ….
Congrats vetivera :)
TY Chips for inspiring us every day!!!
Have been reflecting on US Patent Law and realized it sets a remarkably clear precedence regarding individuals v corporations or any form of organization, private or public, for profit or not. So, I think my recommendation is something PBO should consider, seriously ….
#Hope4ALL
…… back to work ….
I understand control of who has patents approved, or not, is why we are so embedded in fossil fuel use and no other kind of alternative energy source is allowed or permitted.
Not true in the US. No one controls the US Patent & Trademark Office, MP.
“The group includes two senators in Ayotte and Kirk who face tough reelection races next year in states won by President Obama in 2012. Their races will help determine which party has the Senate majority in 2017.”
Political - they’ll be anti green the minute the 2016 elections are over.
Some things are just too unbelievable….to be real
I can’t say that I blame Dr Carson nor can I begrudge the GOPers for Owning and Having their way with the US News Media………US News Media Ceased and Desisted their Constitutional Obligations for Decades now, unfortunately :(
Guilty of walking while NON-White.
Those Black women saw their fathers and grandfathers. They knew which way was up.
……………………
Defense blames Indian grandfather at start of new trial, ‘follow our laws and speak our language’
The second time around, the opening statements were far sharper, as the defense looked to blame the leg sweep on the victim.
The U.S. Department of Justice once again seeks to imprison a Madison police officer for up to 10 years for using excessive force in the leg sweep takedown that left an Indian citizen in need of spinal surgery.
The first trial of Officer Eric Parker ended in a hung jury last month. This time both sides focused much of their opening arguments on the actions of the victim, Sureshbhai Patel, in the moments before the takedown.
Defense attorney Robert Tuten this time told the jury that the escalation of force was largely the fault of Patel.
“When you come to the U.S. we expect you to follow our laws and speak our language,” said Tuten. “Mr. Patel bears as much responsibility for this as anyone.”
…………….
The first jury deadlocked 10-2 in favor of acquittal. That’s 10 males, none black, who favored acquittal. Two black women argued Parker was guilty.

Ben Carson again weighed in on the Oregon school shooting, writing that he had operated on victims of gun violence “but I never saw a body with bullet holes that was more devastating than taking the right to arm ourselves away” …

Hello! What’s new at TOD? I’m still on Tuesday. 😜🍁
Blame Hubby, he left me. Took the Bear too.
I am tired of hearing about rubio & ryan today. Media hype!
My television is always off until I turn it on to watch the few shows that I dvr. Give me the issue and I can tell you how it will be reported, so I save myself the aggravation. I was trained in old-style journalism; you know the way in which the reporter/media is supposed to be objective and to report on what actually happens? Speculation was a big no-no and opinion had to be clearly labeled. We were to see ourselves as the 4th estate that who had a constitutional responsibility to question everything and to get the truth out. I cannot stand to see what has happened to a profession that I once loved.
& Boehner lied through his teeth on his way out the door: that this Congress got more done than any other Congress throughout his career.
Lying piece of shit.
Yes, John……You and your Team allowed the GOPers to take the control of the “Debate”
You all threw away the rules. You allowed the chaos to Thrive……allowing Alpha Egotists like Christie, Cruz, Trump, etc to run wild.
Precisely!
New post.
