Off character: I don’t know! He is such a disappointment. Carson is a family friend who was of great comfort and assistance to my cousin when they were both being treated for cancer. In addition to he and I sharing several mutual friends, who are all as disapointed as I am, I am fielding calls from young folks that I’d gifted with his books “Gifted Hands” and “Think Big.” They can’t believe that this is the same guy that they looked up to as a role model…
Jazziz2, I know several who feel the same. Don’t know if they knew him personally but they have read his books and talked about him with great respect. I lost respect when he went after the President at the Prayer Breakfast afew years ago. What this all has shown me if how unusual our President is. When you listen to his early video’s and read his books, you realize he is who he always has been.

Yay! New season coming in January
Really, not as a Halloween character? You really know him? I’m not really looking into the Repub candidates because there are so many and I have zero persuasive powers with anyone. Their stupidity as a group saddens me. I just want to enjoy and savor everything about President Obama and his family for the duration of his presidency. I feel the same about VP Joe Biden.
It wasn’t until I got an iPad in late Oct. that I became aware of all the internet had to offer. Social media wasn’t something I knew about. That is when I got FB and Twitter accounts. So I’m still catching up on lots of information.
If I remember right I have Arapaho to thank for alerting me to TOD.
That doesn’t mean I will stay quite about things important to me; or ignorant of social issues. I’m usually the first to know and late to the news.
Back to Carson, I have read that he seems to be a paid spokesperson for many products and he did take time off from the campaign to promote a book.
Since you know him has his voice always sounded like it does now? Something about it gets on my nerves.

After Hillary’s rally and late lunch, I went to the last performance of Stone Mountain Village’s Tunes on the Tracks fall outdoor concert series. Got to hear a band that’s been around for a while but is new to me: Three5Human. Really enjoyed them. They did a knockout cover of this Stevie Wonder classic

A belated thank you to you Dudette, for the play by play of the HRC speech yesterday. I’m so not ready for Hillary, but, since it may come down to her as the nominee, it was good to hear her finally giving some respect to PBO and his administration, as well as some other important issues. Sounds like her campaign has realized how much she needs the Obama Coalition. I hope she keeps it up.

At lunch after the rally, a very nice young lady walked up to us as we were leaving our table and asked if we had gone to the event. She’d been seated with some other folks at the table beside ours. Came over to thank us for coming and asked our impression of how it went. Turns out she’s Hillary’s new National Director of African American Outreach, LaDavia Drane. Impressive young lady. (Used to be Exec Director for the Congressional Black Caucus under Ohio Rep Marcia Fudge which means she’s got the connections she needs to be successful). She’s got a huge job ahead of her.

At least the baby was cute and he kept his mouth shut so no one could accuse him of disparaging women. While the Holy Father has himself acknowledged that “Mary is more important than the apostles.” He also disingenuously called women in the church “more important than bishops and priests” and patronizingly told a group of female theologians last year that they were “strawberries on the cake.” People may be all ecstatic about Francis’ outspokenness, but let me remind you all when asked about the issue of female priests, he replied, “The church has spoken and says no,” adding, “That door is closed.”

Why Did Eva Moskowitz Publish a Student’s Disciplinary Record?
The head of Success Academies may have overreached in her response to a PBS NewsHour report.

Anyone who has reported on campus sexual assault knows that school administrations rarely respond, even when they feel unfairly maligned, because they fear violating the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, or FERPA. Passed in 1974, FERPA is a federal law that bans the release of students’ personal information without their consent. “Schools are not supposed to talk about their students, even when the media is saying, ‘Hey, I can’t believe you did this,’ ” says Derek W. Black, a professor at the University of South Carolina School of Law who specializes in education law. “And sometimes that means the media doesn’t get the story straight, but it does protect the student.”
That’s why it was so surprising when Eva Moskowitz, the high-profile head of Success Academy, a network of New York City charter schools, responded to a negative PBS story by releasing the disciplinary record of an ex-student featured in it. Black says this was probably illegal, and it has left the student’s mother, Fatima Geidi, furious and frantic with worry over her 10-year-old son’s reputation. “For a grown woman, an adult, to attack a child is disgusting,” Geidi told me. “There’s no other way around it.”

With the help of Leonie Haimson, co-founder of the Parent Coalition for Student Privacy, Fatima Geidi sent Moskowitz a cease-and-desist letter, demanding that her son’s information be taken down. “I’ve seen violations of FERPA, but not in such an obvious, egregious way,” Haimson told me. “Not in a press release sent to the media and posted online. I have not seen this level of violation.”
Moskowitz is unapologetic. In a letter to Geidi, she wrote, “The First Amendment limits a person’s ability to use privacy rights to prevent others from speaking. When somebody chooses to make statements to the press, they waive their privacy rights on the topics they have discussed, particularly when, as here, those statements are inaccurate.”

I’m waiting for the NBC poll showing that I (Bernie Sanders) have surpassed Obama in everything. In the month of October alone, I had more pizza delivered to my campaign workers than Obama had to his entire OFA nation-wide for the entire year of 2007-2008. That HAS to count for something. Biased Lending Evolves, and Blacks Face Trouble Getting Mortgages

They steered clear of black and Hispanic neighborhoods as they opened branches across New York and Connecticut, federal officials said. They focused on marketing mortgages in predominantly white sections of suburban New Jersey and Long Island, not here or in Bridgeport, Conn.
The results were stark. In 2014, Hudson approved 1,886 mortgages in the market that includes New Jersey and sections of New York and Connecticut, federal mortgage data show. Only 25 of those loans went to black borrowers.
Hudson, while denying wrongdoing, agreed last month to pay nearly $33 million to settle a lawsuit filed by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Justice Department. Federal officials said it was the largest settlement in the history of both departments for redlining, the practice in which banks choke off lending to minority communities
