PBO had to remind Lester Holt that he is president for all Americans. I know he is as tired as I am about all of the questions about him being the Black/African-American president. 7 years and people have to point this out as if he does not know of if it is the only important thing about him? Really, what is the point of this?

Lester Holt is AA, so the question doesn’t seem to me to be out of place.
Also, IMHO, if our 44th President had been a white person (including HRC/WJC combo) I sincerely doubt that #Ferguson and countless other atrocities would have made white MSM twitter stream. Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Sandra Bland, Tamir Rice, etc., would not be part of the American consciousness now.
PBO’s answers and statements never satisfy the loathsome MSM, but PBO is in ACTION mode with MBK, 21st century policing task force, criminal justice reform.
On Jan 19th 2017, American’s perception and awareness of the history and contributions of African Americans will be much more profound had the 44th President been a white American.
Just my two cents. I’m usually wrong when I spout opinions about something I know little or nothing about, so I would appreciate responses from you and all of TODville.
Arapaho, I don’t think you’re usually wrong because you are very insightful and thoughtful. I do think that our President has helped make many thoughtful and decent Americans more conscious of the history and contributions of African Americans. Others, who are rooted in their own hardcore bigotry, have spent the last seven years trying to confirm that bigotry.
CEB, the point is: To me and my family it is the best thing since chocolate ice cream. Our lives did not matter to those who wrote HIS-story. So this is the first time a Black/AfroAmerican has lived in the WH not having to serve but to be served. And may I add, is doing a remarkable job. What is the point of this? It’s really real! It really happened!

I’m not even sure this is worth responding to, but for the record: There is a list circulating online purporting to “out” elected officials as members of the KKK. For reasons unfathomable to me or anyone who knows me, my name is on the list. Given my background, my interracial family, my public record and my personal beliefs, this would be hilarious except that it is probably being seen by a lot of people who have no idea who I am.
So, just to be clear, for anyone who doesn’t know me: Don’t be ridiculous. I began my political career working for the rights of farm workers with Cesar Chavez. I have spent decades working for causes of social justice and equality. As Mayor, I have pushed for diversity in our workforce and outreach to and inclusion of people of all backgrounds in our community. In concert with President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper program, I began the Save Our Sons initiative to increase opportunities and reduce violence-related deaths among boys and young men of color. I have advocated publicly for LGBT civil rights, and I was the only mayor in Tennessee to sign onto the mayors’ amicus brief for the plaintiffs in the Supreme Court’s marriage equality case. In short, I don’t think the KKK would want anything to do with me.
I strongly request that anyone associated with the creation and dissemination of this false and defamatory accusation retract it immediately. It is irresponsible and slanderous. (Although, on a positive note, I do appreciate that they are using a picture of me from 12 years ago. Very flattering!)

When I saw that Anonymous list I noticed her name “Rogero” and thought to myself, ‘that’s odd, her name sounds Italian’. Now, don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of Italian racists, but they would not be welcome in the KKK.
I was 99.99% done with Anonymous before reading this. Now, after reading Goldie’s piece as well, I am 100% done.
For a minute there, I thought Anonymous finally did something positive. I don’t want to get too into conspiracies here, but this smacks of “disinformation”. I wonder who is really behind this and what the motive actually was. Maybe some of the names are correct and releasing them along with obviously wrong ones will cause everyone to disregard the true ones if/when they are identified.
Yeh, sounds like someone broke from within the ranks (or independently) and is trying to sabotage them given the tweets going on out there between the group who originally threatened the leak claiming no association with what’s been circulating today. Good to hear people stepping up to correct the record

It occurs to me that republicans do have an additional way to disagree - other than war - they can impeach.
They NEVER will stop with the b.s. until they kill off all their poor white supporters - because - no health care, no unemployment, no food stamps - just die.
I have one homeless lady in my town that pulls at my heart. She is elderly. I have given her money once. I passed her one day and did not have any cash on me and so I looked away because I was embarrassed I couldn’t help her and did not have the time to stop. I have since started keeping a couple of one dollar bills in my car, not to help just her, but others I encounter.
I always feel guilty when I can’t help.
I actually buy them the meals or give them gift cards..they are grateful. Always. But for the grace of God go I…

We keep Subway gift cards in our cars and give one of those to people who are on the side of the road or in a parking lot.

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — An outside fire spread into singer Johnny Mathis’ Hollywood Hills home on Monday afternoon, but no one was injured.
The fire was reported at around 5:30 p.m. at a large one-story house at 1469 Stebbins Terrace, in the hills above the Sunset Strip, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said.
Forty-one firefighters took 30 minutes to knock down the fire, Humphrey said.
The house is owned by the estate of Johnny Mathis, 80, who began recording music in 1956 and who late last year told Pat Harvey he stays active recording songs.

during one of his discussions about reforming the justice system, PBO mentioned something which I expected to hear being repeated in the MSM and social media but which I seem to think was ignored;
I referring to PBO asking us to stop making jokes or laugh about the rape and other forms of sexual abuse that happens behind prison walls because this had real victims who were among those vulnerable groups;
when I heard this, I stopped and thought, yes most of us are not totally innocent about this, we have either made jokes or laughed at those jokes;
I didn’t hear anyone quote this which I thought was something most of us could start to make a change about
So the GOP clowns can complain about President Obama being a weak leader, then again they can wimp and whine about how CNBC moderators and the liberal media have treated them. Boy isn’t that leadership. I’m sure Putin and every other world leader is shaking in their boots over those wimpy GOP wimps.
