VC, you were so good at channeling MD that I really couldn’t tell if you were writing or just quoting from her aritcles!
Oh, a lot of it was quotation, Maryl! The truth is that I’ve never really paid any attention to Dowd so I had to actually research a handful of her columns. I value my blood pressure more than I do the irritating opinions of pundits, columnists and the like, and since I’m easily irritated by them I stay clear of their opinions on a normal day. ;) ;) Hopef prodded me out of my corner for Hallowe’en.
I haven’t read any of her stuff for years, I had to research Howard Fineman too, I think he was on the Keith Olberman show during the first election and he was okay, but then kind of went off the rails. I read one article of his talking about how smooth Rubio was and how great the Republicans did during the last debate. The comments on that were really funny..I decided that’s all I had time to read, and so I just used that material.
:D :D This extra research … all Hopefruit’s fault! Actually quite a sneaky way to get us to cast a side eye out *there*!
I read four of Dowd’s articles - the only four I’ve ever read!
I used to read her, I think in the 90’s? She was funny, or at least I thought so back then.I wonder what I would think now. However, she just seemed to get meaner and cattier. I just stopped reading. She was vicious for the sake of it and didn’t even seem to know what she was talking about. I applaud your courage!

Your experience is somewhat like mine - Years back when I was active in the church I often used to hear all those ‘Christian’ groups (Focus on the Family; Samaritan’s Purse, yada, yada) mentioned often and used to think they were led by Christian men of conscience. Heck, I used to even donate to some when our church had missionary outreach! I know what I think of them now that I’ve seen some of them up close and personal during the Obama Reign.
I fell out with Focus on the Family and James Dobson a long time ago, but if you just hear them mentioned, there’s a lot about them that sounds harmless, even good. Although I always disagreed with a lot of what he said, I even used to think he was a more rational, nicer person than I know he is now. It’s interesting how the stress of having a black man in the White House has revealed a lot of deep characteristics that people used to be able to hide.

I’m taking their “KKK Expose” with the appropriate amount of salt going forward.

A few minutes before that came on, they aired a segment on the GOP Presidential race, with a new NBC poll showing Ben Carson “surging” at 29%, followed by Trump at 22% with Jeb bush in 5th place at 8%. They then showed a snippet of Ben Carson on the campaign trail, with his GOP supporters giving him rock star treatment and a woman singing the song “Ben” (a ala Michael Jackson) to him. (BARF)
Needless to say, I felt like I needed to submerge myself fully in undiluted CLOROX after seeing that ridiculous segment on NBC. The GOP is so desperate to find their “Obama” that they are lurching from one candidate to another in search of what they think is that elusive Obama “it” factor, be it race/ skin color (Carson), youth (Rubio) or some other crap. The GOP is SICK!!
