WC morning VC. It was 47 F this morning when I woke up. A little fresh nip in the air and clear skies after the rain we had yesterday. Sun was shining and it was a glorious drive to work :-)
Sounds great! I’m always partial to a ‘fresh nip in the air’; it’s when it starts to bite that I get a bit antsy. Also, too, glad to hear of rain in your corner - not so in NW’s corner.
Yes, we got just enough to put snow on our mountains - which, when accumulated becomes our water source when it melts. However, I won’t rule out the type of rain that hit Texas. Our raining season hasn’t begun yet…
When does it normally begin, and I’d guess you and your neighbours will make sure you are well-stocked when it does arrive?

Child shot multiple times in head, killed; driver critically injured after marshal-involved shooting Tuesday night in Marksville

Updated, 11:35 a.m.: A six-year-old boy was fatally wounded and his father was listed in critical condition after a chase with deputy city marshals in Marksville ended in a shooting on Tuesday night, Louisiana State Police said.
The boy, Jeremy David Mardis, was killed by multiple gunshot wounds to the head and torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Avoyelles Parish Coroner L.J. Mayeaux said Wednesday. The boy was a student at Lafargue Elementary in Effie.
Mayeaux said the boy was in the vehicle when he was shot and it appears all the shots came from outside and through the driver’s side of the vehicle. He said the investigation is ongoing, but the “working theory” is that all shots were fired by city marshals. more at tweet link:
i am sad at the loss of the life of the lil boy…if the father dies…we may never know what happened
If they autopsy the boy and recover the bullets, they should be able to match them to the marshals’ guns.
if the father had a gun and was firing at the officers they may say that it was unfortunate but justified…

It just so happens that right now “we the people” are divided. There are a lot of reasons for that. Most notable is that we are in the midst of huge changes when it comes to demographics, cultural mores and an increasingly globalized economy. Add to all of that the fact that we have one political party that is intent on fear-mongering about those changes and a media that is dedicated to sensationalism over substance and you get a pretty toxic mix.
Never forget…The Williams Sisters are “Straight Out of Compton.”

Thought I would come out of permanent lurker status to let all of you know, once again, how much I appreciate this community.
It is the most refreshing and uplifting place on the internet.
I have just about given up on Cable News. I still watch Rachel and LAwrence from time to time. But the constant screeching and insane yammering from the Republican Party is really disturbing, frightening and dispiriting.
They are mean, selfish, and destructive people. They thrive on hate and character assassination.
Why is it that democrats will not rise up with righteous indignation against this party? Why can’t Hilary or Bernie fight back by asking:? What kind of people try to keep people from getting healthcare? What kind of people only want a select group to receive a good education? What kind of people choose an idiot like Putin against a smart and impossibly virtuous man like PBO,
What kind of people fight to keep guns in the hands of people who, events have shown us, think nothing of killing little children, each other, anybody?
What kind of people would rather see the earth die than to give up their money? What kind of people can see countless black and brown men killed for no reason other than the fact that is okay because they are not important?
I could go on and on. And, I am not closing my eyes to the problems on the Left, and in the black and other communities.
But, the amount of hate and invective coming from the Right is sickening and downright disastrous to this country. You cannot champion these distorted views and expect good results.
I am sickened at the possibility that we could have a Republican president.
My Dad used to comment with disgust about how mean republicans were. They are worse now.
For those of us who care about others, and those of us who have known discrimination and racial profiling and the constant reminders that the deck is always stacked against us, this coming election is terrifying.
I do not want to live under a republican president. If the people in this country were not so blind, nobody would, except some of the super rich, the racists, the warmongers and the greedy.
It was Kentucky’s election results that set me off.
How can a people elect someone who might rescind the healthcare of 400,000 people, black, white, and other?
TOD, if it weren’t for you, sensitive folk like me would no longer believe there was hope for America.
The Dem problem at twofold:

The Party needs a Capable, functioning DNC Leader whose sole job is to get Dems elected and to help build the Grassroots back up.
The so called DNC Chairs are Not seen. They have Zero Vision. They are not active Locally nor are they in any shape or form building a Dem Grassroots in 50 states.
