AMK, your toon sources produce one stellar hit after another. I LOVE the image of Cruz’s chin in the second panel. The others are funny-he’s downright creepy.

Really appreciate all the moral and financial support for the Salaam Cultural Museum which is sponsoring humanitarian relief missions in Greece to aid the Syrian refugees. Will be calling them today to ask about the point AMK made about international donations. Will try to keep you posted as we hear from Erika.

Thanks, Df. This, in a nutshell, is why Rupert bought NG. Hope libraries across the country take extra care to preserve their old copies. It’s sad to see a once great publication die. Murdoch is like the plague-poisoning and destroying everything he touches. I hope he loses a bundle on this venture.

Personnel records show years of complaints against officer

FOX LAKE, Ill. (AP) — An Illinois police officer who staged his suicide to make it look like he was murdered had a troubled job history, ranging from numerous suspensions to sexual harassment allegations to complaints that he intimidated an emergency dispatcher with guns, according to his personnel records.

Despite a reputation as a respected youth mentor, Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz also had problems off the job, including one incident in which a sheriff’s deputy found him passed out in his truck and took him home, only to have Gliniewicz report his truck stolen the next day, according to documents in the file.

The records were released late Thursday by the Village of Fox Lake in response to a Freedom of Information request, after a day in which officials said Gliniewicz had sought out a hit man to kill a village administrator he feared would expose him as a thief, and may have planned to plant cocaine on the administrator to discredit her as a criminal.

The image of Gliniewicz that’s emerged in recent days stands in stark contrast to the hero’s funeral and outpouring of community support after his death in September.

My God, rikyrah. This guy was so evil and corrupt, he was like a movie villain. He also must have been stark, staring mad to stage his own death to hurt others. Hope this news spreads and his name is reviled from now on.

The worst part, jackie, is that his department apparently has done everything to cover this up, until it was clear that they would never get away with it. There had been someone in the coroner’s office who leaked that they knew it was suicide from the beginning, and he got kicked off the case. The lead investigator now thumping his chest was the one who did his best to keep this information from coming out.

It’s a despicable story. It’s an effing miracle that people didn’t get killed as “suspects”. This guy not only committed suicide, but set it up to create chaos and falsely support RWNJ memes.

        Disgusting.

This U.S. city has become the first to elect a Muslim-majority city council

Hamtramck, a historically Polish-Catholic enclave of Detroit, rose to national prominence more than a decade ago when its city council gave permission to a mosque to broadcast its call to prayer from speakers on its roof.

At the time, opponents were angered by what they saw as an intrusion of Islamic practice onto a public space. The city council’s approval of an ordinance to allow mosques to broadcast the Islamic call to prayer onto public streets made it one of the few cities in the United States to approve the practice, according to a 2004 story in the Detroit News. “This is about uniting our community,” Shabad Ahmed, the first and only Muslim member of the Hamtramck City Council, told the newspaper.

Fast forward to 2015, when the city of some 22,000 people physically surrounded by but politically separate from Detroit has elected a Muslim-majority city council, believed to be the first in the nation. On Tuesday, the city elected six city council members, four of Muslim faith.

On msnbc, they are raising the possibility that Carson didn’t exoerience a violent past.
So.., I flipped the channel and cnn is nailing Carson to a wall, basically.
Cnn talked to his grade school friends that confirm all this garbage about Carson.
They even asked Carson.. His response… You didn’t do this to Obama.
So now cnn is talking about Obama and his girl friend back in the day.
    Lol
Did I like miss something these past two years ?

Been a busy and interesting week. Had a life comes full circle episode this week. To accommodate working the polls on Tuesday, I changed my infusion to Monday. The nurse noticed my Marine Corps jacket and mentioned her late Mom had been a Marine during the Korean War. Told her to sent me her Mom’s info and I’d see if I could locate any of her Mom’s platoon sisters. Later in the morning we were talking about Halloween; I mentioned living in a small town — turns out her Mom grew up in my very town. She gave the family name and while it sounded vaguely familiar, I didn’t know the family. When my Mom picked me up, I forgot to ask if she knew them. Thought about it at the polls on Tuesday and asked one of the older residents if she recalled the family. OMG, not only had she been friends with the kids in the family, she caused me to recall that I knew the nurse’s grandmother and great-grandmother! They lived down the street and around the corner, a few blocks from me.

The family was Indian (Native American); the big kids in the neighborhood told me not to go near their house because they would scalp me. Mind you, I was a rather precocious child, outspoken and fearless; my nickname was “Mouth Almighty” and my favorite question was “Why.” As I was curious and didn’t believe the big kids (I was like 4 or 5), one day while they were in school I marched my little self over to the house, knocked on the door told the lady the scalping rumor and that I didn’t believe it and that if they were “real” Indians I wanted to know them. They invited me in for milk and cookies. I don’t remember the conversation, but afterwards they walked me home to my grandmother.

Looking forward to my next treatment, not only will I be able to put her in contact with a childhood friend of her Mom, I’ll be able to tell her of the great-grand and grandmother’s kindness to me. Full circle… :-)
