Tail-end Charlie here!
‘fairy tales that begin with “If Elected I Promise” = So very true!
Great as always mate “Yardarm”
You are WAY ahead of me.
I’ve learned to live with it.
I love this, Yardarm. Thanks.
Ha! Good one.
It is so cleansing to see this family that is so honorable when we keep hearing about these grifters. We are so blessed.
Yes, we are Marilyn! You are not camping or hiking this weekend? It has been beautiful the last few days. Here & there we have had cloudy days but we haven’t even had a hard freeze. My coleus are a testament to that and of course a few chrysanthemums. Took a pic two days ago.mill paste it to Twitter.
I get a word a day from a dictionary app and it also has a blog, etc. It describes Indian Summer, etc. For us it has always meant after hard frost. Don’t know what to expect. But we never could rely on past weather patterns since we’ve lived here.
Looking back at 2004, 2008, 2012, I was excited about the presidential election and faithfully watched debates and CSpan, etc.
Not this year, not yet. Don’t worry, I’ll Vote, but it only counts in the tabulation of the popular vote.
{Snip}
In an angry press conference on Friday, Republican presidential frontrunner Ben Carson attempted to defend himself against news reports that he has misrepresented his past, including claims that he had been offered a full scholarship to West Point, by accusing the press of not sufficiently examining a series of conspiracy theories about President Barack Obama.
Carson then called into question Obama’s educational achievements, repeating a widely debunked theory that Obama’s educational records are being kept secret by some sort of court order.
Were Carson familiar with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, he would know that federal law protects the privacy of all students’ educational records and that his own educational records would also be protected, only to be released to the public if he opted to do so.
<3 <3 <3 You Back!!!!
Here is the press conference and no one in that room disputed any of his garbage. WE HAVE NO JOURNALIST left in this country.
donna, this is one reason why I do not like this man.He must have forgotten the 24/7 coverage of attending Rev. Wright church, so much so that Sen. Obama had to give a speech. He must not remember the 24/7 coverage of President Obama birth certificate. Carson put his self in this pile of shit, now he want to blame everyone else but his self.
No clicks from MP. Too much going on for this bs
Donna, I’m sure not a single reporter knew about such an act (too much research required) and wouldn’t be bothered to look anything up anyway. What they did know is that no one in history has had his background more intensely scrutinized than President Obama. His veracity, his citizenship, his very spirituality were questioned at every turn as any living person knows. What neither Candidate Barack Obama or President Obama ever did was get angry at the people probing. He addressed every concern with seriousness where appropriate and with humor when it was needed.
It could be that they were so flabbergasted by the stupidity of the remark that they were speechless…
Have a great Weekend everyone!!!
Later
Exactly. Amazing how few Americans actually got that.
The dam has been breached on Dr. Ben Carson’s campaign, what was fascinating about his press conference yesterday was his inability to stay calm. Dr. Carson is a trained neurosurgeon, one would think that being put under pressure would not bother him in the least, put more bluntly, Dr. Carson lost his shit yesterday. The moment we tried to throw President Obama under the bus was the moment he lost what little credibility he had. The alleged stabbing, the alleged hammer attack on is mother, the lying about WestPoint, the supplement scam. What was once a brilliant man is now nothing more than a half-ass Herman Cain without the charm.
Big Ben revealed his true self when he attempted to deflect attention from his errors by comparing them to candidate Obama’s challenges. He quickly became Little Ben.
Dr. Carson is Nothing but a Money Making Schemer. His latest book is number 4 since late 2013.
His Burn-rate for his Campaign is 54% whereas, most of his Campaign donations come through the Clicks on his Website.
Armstrong Williams is his ‘Business’ Manager………the money hungry GW tool from the early 2000.
Carson always injecting then Sen Obama and President Obama is a Tactic to have the fools keep sending him Ca$h.
The US Media knows that Carson is Lying about Pres Obama. Yet they allow the wicked games to continue.
Being a neurosurgeon probably makes it harder for him to accept being questioned. Nobody questions his decisions in the operating theatre.
Just my thought on why Ben Carson was even considered by the repugs. I’m thinking that after 7 years of trying to get rid of President Obama and his awesome record and NEVER EVER elect another Black Man to the White House, they used BC to make Black Men look stupid and liars. It kind a seems that way to me.
Notice how something similar happened to Herman Cain. That’s why I’m not sure why people even take these Black Republican characters seriously. They are not representative of Black people in anyway, shape or form.
Also, there’s nothing that pleases the media more to see PBO being attacked by another Black person with a platform, be that person a Repub Presidential wannabe, or a liberal activist, or a TV show host, or a journalist…
I’ve been noticing this, too. We know all the MSM are owned by right-wing billionaires, so the message has clearly come from the top to go after Carson. Look how they’re forgiving Jeb’s and Trump’s messes- while Rubio is getting the hyped-up investigations, like Carson.
To be fair, Carson is completely nuts and the media knows it. He has to go down now; him being the GOP front runner was embarrassing. Next, Trump. The media still needs him for ratings, but eventually they’ll pull the plug. I suspect soon. Rubio is a light weight . Maybe the GOP leadership wants him on the ticket as VP. They think it could help with Latinos (they’re delusional).
It will be Jeb Bush or John Kasich. Mark my words.

This is a NEUROSURGEON that is SUPPOSED to have attention to detail….yet, WTF is a “poverb”?? (check the pictures at the link) There is much more than meets the eye…running for President is going to turn out to be this arrogant liar’s worst nightmare
he’s got a REALLY big “I love me” wall. Really big.
The “Love me” wall doesn’t bother me. I guess I’m looking at it from my career perspective — MOST career military folks have a love me wall. When I lived in 3500 sqft, I had “love me” walls in my home office, library and one of the family rooms; now that I’m in 1200sqft, the plaques and awards are in storage. When I finish this round of renovations, I am going to break a few of them out for display…
I howled, DF - damn it, if he’s ever working on my brain (hush), I hope he’s a little more attentive.
He is a friggin’ maniac.
THIS PRETTY MUCH SAYS IT ALL AT THE CARSON MUSEUM…ARE WE SUPPOSED TO KNEEL HERE?
Okay. I know I just looked at that, but did I really see what I think I saw?!?! Every day we see this man is an egotistical maniac. Anyone went to predict when they will finally get rid of him? Push him out? Use him enough?
Tnmtngirl, I knew he was a freak ….. but not THIS freaky!
Was he really a neurosurgeon…did he take someone else’s identity……something is just not right about all this
So true! Gawd knows what a little more digging will reveal about this guy, he is actually disturbed.
what will we uncover at Johns Hopkins University…there is a lot buried there…the fall out might fall back on them….if he turns out to be a fraud
Isn’t there anyone else in his family? smh Don’t the others in his loving family deserve a bit of space on the wall? I’ll never understand why these wives, and children, with wacko husbands/fathers never seem embarrassed by their behaviour.
Those were the freakiest collection of photos I have EVER SEEN!!!!!
I know, eh? Geez louise, it seemed like he left no space in the museum for the accomplishments of any of his sons (and I read somewhere they were ‘musical’). Wonder what kind of self-esteem issues the offsprings may have, and we won’t even mention the wife’s possible issues! No amount of money could have kept me married to the likes of that ego!
Info here on his sons: http://www.bustle.com/articles/103121-who-are-ben-carsons-children-the-republican-presidential-hopeful-is-the-father-of-three-accomplished-sons
But at this stage I’m not sure I believe anything I read about him or his family.
Carson ‘lost’ me (as a listener) the moment he had his unprovoked attack on the president AND in a venue that should have been neutral.
From a quick read of your link (and with a definite “side eye” perspective) it would seem son #3 is quite a go-getter!
Murray Carson, the youngest, has a Master’s of Science in Applied Information Technology from Towson University, and earned a Bachelor’s of Science from Yale in Mechanical Engineering. On his LinkedIn profile, Murray describes himself as an “innovative, incentivizing problem-solver who leads by example.” Murray worked as a mechanical engineer at Lockheed Martin from 2003 until 2007, and as an analyst at BDMetrics for a year.
While he was working as a mechanical engineer (2003-2007), his older brother BenJr was studying “at Tufts University from 2003 to 2007, and earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology and Entrepreneurial Leadership. ”
Anyhoo, I wish them all well, as much as I wish they’d pull their dad aside and check out his mental state before he embarrasses them further. He’s already embarrassed himself beyond repair IMO.
I just knew that Chips would tweet about this.
Brilliant, Chips ;)
Thank you.
:-) Helloooooooooooo Nena!!
Hello Chips ;)
How’s Danny?
And Dr. Carson’s Jesus is Not White  Hmm?
Danny is excellent, Nena!!
A new theory:
Andy Gibb?
The dearly beloved 4th Gibb brothers?
For the love of Humanity!
I lost it on Dale’s response
I nearly passed out, Donna!!!
Imagine the hubris it would take to have such a painting of yourself. I can now imagine a lot of nutters thinking this is the coolest thing in the world and commissioning similar portraits of themselves for their homes. And that thought is actually creeping me out.
Jackie, all I could conclude is that the man has that narcissistic personality disorder thing, plus another 10 or 12 conditions that render him grade A bonkers. He’s seriously beginning to make Trump seem half normal - and that’s saying something.
That picture from the Courier Mail, (printed in my home town) - last time that paper printed anything sane - Murdoch rag - amazing they even acknowledged the win
You are kidding.
WTF! This man is completely nuts.
Is that a joke? From The Onion? Seriously, is that a page (56) from his book?!?!?!?!
I’m honestly not sure tnmtngirl, I think it probably it is a joke - but the fact that we’re not sure says it all about the man!
omg is this really in his book?? omg.
Right!! He states that the bear, standing on it’s hind feet, is almost 10 feet tall. Yet Carson put his hand on the bear’s head. Right!! Carson, according to Google, is 6 ft tall. That’s a pretty long arm he would have to have to put his hand on the bear’s head. This guy is delusional.
Hello TOD. Sunny. Blue sky. Autumny ;)
Congrats to all the Au :star: winners since late Evening on Friday.
The Dem Forum in SC was interesting, I must admit.
Dr. Maddow did a fine job.
I thought so too, Nana. Interesting. Thought RM did a good job and I liked that format.

… but instead, Buckley-Goldwater-Reagan conservatism returned in an even more radical form in the 2000’s. The result was 2 failed wars in the Middle East, huge federal deficits and the Great Recession. And once again, rather than engage in an intellectual reformation, establishment conservatives initially embraced the post-policy strategy of obstruction and eventually drilled down even farther on the failed policies of the past.
Combine all that with fear-mongering about changing demographics/social mores and heated talk about a “world on fire” and you get a policy vacuum that has been filled by the likes of candidates like Trump and Carson.
Some people should try to dance. Sorry Hillary. :)
#estoh
On the heels of the passage of Obamacare, David Frum wrote that it would likely be the Republican’s Waterloo. And here’s who he blamed for that:
I’ve been on a soapbox for months now about the harm that our overheated talk is doing to us. Yes it mobilizes supporters – but by mobilizing them with hysterical accusations and pseudo-information, overheated talk has made it impossible for representatives to represent and elected leaders to lead. The real leaders are on TV and radio, and they have very different imperatives from people in government. Talk radio thrives on confrontation and recrimination…If Republicans succeed – if they govern successfully in office and negotiate attractive compromises out of office – Rush’s listeners get less angry. And if they are less angry, they listen to the radio less, and hear fewer ads for Sleepnumber beds.
the case was, in effect, invited by Justice Samuel Alito, who penned the majority opinion in Harris v. Quinn, a 2014 case in which the court ruled against the union representing home-care workers in Illinois. In Harris, as Harold Meyerson wrote here, Alito devoted half of his opinion to considering the constitutionality of public-sector unions’ right to collect “fair share” fees from those who have opted out of union membership. These fees cover the worker’s share of the resources the union spent on negotiating a contract, representing workers in grievance procedures, and other services that benefit the entire workforce. They are lower than the dues assessed the union’s members, whose payments also cover the cost of their union’s political activities.
The right of unions to collect fair share fees was settled by the court’s unanimous decision in 1977’s Abood v. Detroit Board of Education. In her dissenting opinion in Harris, Justice Elena Kagan noted that the fair-share issues Alito brought up were not even before the court in Harris. Alito’s questioning of the Abood precedent, however, signaled an inclination by the conservative majority to revisit it.
Contrary to what many in the tradephobic Left and Right are peddling, the Transpacific Partnership’s section on investor-state relations is actually an unqualified leap that elevates environment and public safety, welfare, and transparency at the expense of corporate privileges.
Ok, I’m back from SPECTRE.
I really liked the movie.
It was some good action, and some old school mixed in with the new school.
Dare I say this shallow point - THE costumers make sure that the suits they put on Daniel Craig are TAILORED TO A TEE!! I mean, the FIT of the clothes on him…oh my….
His James Bond was always darker than the others, and this one is no different. If you know James Bond lore, these have been sort of pre-quels, even though they’re set up in modern day. We find out who Blofeld really is. ….commentary about intelligence gathering in this day and age and the long fight of it’s not a matter of whether we CAN do it…how about SHOULD we do it…
The theater was packed, but I really enjoyed it.
So wonderful & so very sad
Loooove it. ^10000
was just discussing this - guessed right that there was no way PBO would have a joint press conference with bibi;
now bibi can go and stand in the WH driveway and rant all he wants, but alone;
I am so done with bibi …… he has done enough damage
Good!
WHEW! Now that that is over*****GO VOLS!****** I can breathe and think about something else. :)
The Knox County Dems have been having a social on the First Friday of every month for the past 3 or 4 years. It was always at our headquarters and districts would take turns providing the food and serving as ‘hosts.’ Sometimes they would be well attended, but usually it was a fairly small group unless we linked it with something else like meet the candidates. In the past year, a different district is hosting each month, finding a restaurant in that district. This month was my district. We got a room at a Mexican restaurant. Did an event noticification on Facebook, sent emails, etc. We only got responses from 25-28 people and a handful of ‘maybes.’ Well, guess what? 50+ people and some of them had NEVER been to any event-the other socials, Truman Day or anything else! Folks mingled and met people from other districts. It was totally awesome!!!!!
Just wanted to share that. :)
Outstanding!
