      Jazziz, Arkansas has a lot to answer for in electing this cretin. He fancies himself an expert on everything-international relations, psychology, sociology, economics—and yet he’s as ignorant as the dumbest yokel on the planet.

    “I’m not going anywhere”.

    OFA is so dear to his heart, community organizing is at the root of his engagement in politics… And there’s so much need for citizens to stay engaged….

    Seems to me that President Obama, after a well deserved rest, will continue to be VERY active politically. He will continue to be very involved in OFA. Motivating the troops into ACTION.

    THAT’S a real political revolution. Bernie Sanders, you should look at the Master for some clues…

    The University of Missouri Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin announced that he would step down as of January 1.

    Several University of Missouri organizations, including the football team and the student association, saw their earlier demand met Monday when university system President Tim Wolfe announced he was stepping down amid a controversy over race relations at the school’s main campus.

    I am in the DC airport waiting to fly home. I just heard PBO’s comments to OFA. The line I loved the most.

    “I’m not going anywhere.”

    The crowd roared.

    Have to board the plane now. Will try and post more in the next few days.

    Three of the four former party chairs that Democratic boss Debbie Wasserman Schultz said she “consulted” before deciding on the primary debate schedule tell TIME that their conversations with her did not amount to debate consultations.

    “She didn’t consult with me. I do not support the exclusivity clause,” said former DNC chair and former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean in mid-October.

    “I did not,” former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell said in late October when asked if he consulted with her about the debates. “I did speak with her once the issue resolved.”

    “No, she didn’t talk to me at all,” Don Fowler said on Thursday. The fourth former party chair that Wasserman Shultz said she consulted with is Virginia Gov. Terry McAulliffe, a longtime loyalist of Hillary Clinton, who did not return calls from TIME requesting comments.

        It came on at 8pm and it was worth watching. The three women they focus on were indeed women of honor. And if it comes on again you should watch it. One woman was a care giver, her husband in the military lost both his legs. One woman after suffering from anxiety came home and became a homeless crack addict, and the other woman was a divorce Mother who is still in the military. The three women were very happy to visit the White House to meet the First Lady and Dr. Biden and they all sat around talking. A touching show it was. You see what they the military families, the service people all go through and a big thanks to them all.

      “But the ruling may have come just soon enough to allow Mr. Obama’s lawyers to appeal the decision to the Supreme Court for consideration next year. Administration officials are hoping that the Supreme Court will overturn the lower-court rulings and let the president carry out his immigration program.”

      Let’s hope…

    • 85 globalcitizenlinda
      November 9, 2025 at 9:51 pm

      I know so many people who were hoping to use this immigration executive order that PBO signed;

      I do not know if PBO and his team will request a decision by the full federal appeals court - this one seems to be from 3 judges;

      I do not trust the US supreme court to do the right thing and allow PBO to do what other presidents have previously done.

      • 86 FoxfireTX
        November 9, 2025 at 11:00 pm

        I’m sure this has been gamed out. The biggest problem is that the appeals court sat on it so that PBO’so team would not have time to appeal it to the Supreme Court. If they go for a full 5th circuit review it will not make it to the Supreme Court before he leaves office. And given it is the 5th circut here in the south I doubt they would get a different outcome from the full court. I suspect they will try to get it to the Supreme Court this year. Given the loss, it can’take get any worse. So very sad. Sure hope that at a minimum it helps get people to the polls. Election have consequences, as the folks in KY will learn in the very near future.

    Hey TOD,
    Stepping out of my recent lurking mode to share this fascinating interview Conan O’Brien did with the author of the book “Being Nixon”. I am sure I am not alone here at TOD in saying I am no fan of Nixon. In fact, some of my earliest memories as a little girl were of my Mom watching the Watergate trials on TV. She hated Nixon with a passion. The Watergate scandal was a defining moment of my childhood.

    Conan is not his usual slapstick self here and has a thoroughly interesting discussion with the author. It was not part of the show, as it is about an hour long, but I highly recommend it for the insight and history. One funny thing for me was that I remember one of my mom’s old boyfriends was a man named Dick Tuck. Mom used to tell me stories about all the political pranks he would play on behalf of the left. The author of this biography mentioned Dick Tuck at about minute 40 of the interview! Ha ha, it was weird hearing his name mentioned outside of Mom’s anecdotes. Anyway, I highly recommend the entire hour:

    oh. my. god. so this missouri protest by the football players and others was quickly a giant success, and easily a catalyst for other movements across the country by showing what people can get done when smartly banding together. but then of course people with weak egos need to turn into something about themselves and distract from the big success and hurt the very cause they say they’re concerned about:
    http://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/10/us/university-missouri-protesters-block-journalists-press-freedom.html?_r=0

    why on earth would someone think they can take over a public space and dictate who gets to enter and leave that public space? the video clip in that article is insane. the players, faculty and others who strategically went on strike made this happen. this is why the “occupy” movement is so stupid…forcibly taking over public space is not how to enact real change. yes, people can fill a space and “take it over” that way by sheer numbers, but to think you can block out press in particular in the middle of the most public space there is in the area is ridiculous. this is the kind of situation i think al giordano and president obama talk about with “training” your people. hope they can wake up quickly.

    Building Trust and Protecting Privacy: Progress on the President’s Precision Medicine Initiative
    November 9, 2025 AT 3:51 PM ET BY JO HANDELSMAN AND DJ PATIL

    Today, the White House is releasing the Privacy and Trust Principles for the President’s Precision Medicine Initiative (PMI). These principles are a foundation for protecting participant privacy and building trust in activities within PMI.

    PMI is a bold new research effort to transform how we characterize health and treat disease. PMI will pioneer a new model of patient-powered research that promises to accelerate biomedical discoveries and provide clinicians with new tools, knowledge, and therapies to select which treatments will work best for which patients. The initiative includes development of a new voluntary research cohort by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), a novel regulatory approach to genomic technologies by the Food and Drug Administration, and new cancer clinical trials by the National Cancer Institute at NIH. In addition, PMI includes aligned efforts by the Federal government and private sector collaborators to pioneer a new approach for health research and healthcare delivery that prioritizes patient empowerment through access to information and policies that enable safe, effective, and innovative technologies to be tested and made available to the public.

    Following President Obama’s launch of PMI in January 2015, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy worked with an interagency group to develop the Privacy and Trust Principles that will guide the Precision Medicine effort.

    Hmmmmm. Oh well, I’ll share this other one too and maybe they’ll run into each other. ;)

    // …………………………………………….

    But in communities across the country, 10.5 million eligible people remain uninsured.

    That’s why the White House is reaching out to local officials in 20 key communities with high percentages of uninsured Americans in states around the country. Community collaboration with local, state and federal officials can have a meaningful impact in helping these people get the health coverage they need.

    Healthy Communities Challenge

    At the end of open enrollment, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), along with State-based Marketplaces, will publish tallies of new Marketplace signups in the 20 participating communities and compare them to the uninsured rates at the beginning of the open enrollment period, to see which communities have made the most progress.

    Morning everyone!

    http://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2015/11/09/Democrats-already-looking-at-possible-VP-candidates-to-run-on-Clinton-ticket/4051447111735/

    Reportedly among the possible running mates: Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., former Maryland governor and presidential contender Martin O’Malley, and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro.

    “It would be a balanced and diverse ticket, and it would be two firsts: a female as president and a Latino as vice president,” Rep. Lacy Clay, D-Mo., said of a Clinton-Castro ticket. “I think it’s a better reflection of America than what the other side can offer.”

    Another possible candidate is someone who already has plenty of experience in the post — current Vice President Joe Biden.

    Because the party is attempting to gain seats in Congress and provide a smooth transition from the Obama administration, Democrats may seek a youthful running mate who offers balance in race and gender matters, as well.

    Well, well:)
