Meta, I’m glad PBO is getting the recognition he deserves from the gay community. I hope it makes people appreciate how much a good president can influence culture and why it’s critical that they work for a Democratic successor to this great man. I’m sure our President has gone way beyond caring what anyone else thinks.
It’s about damned time. A good many of my gay friends and relatives have been awful: PBO didn’t do enough, or fast enough, yada yada. My gay nephew, who is now able to get married in effing Florida - won’t give him credit because he’s black. I love these gay Chicago south siders who let their racism trump their rights.
Now, I also have many gay friends who cheer PBO all the time. But it has been quite an enlightening experience.
Good to see that they finally recognize the one who has actually made their lives better instead of those who have only used them (I am looking at you Bill and Hillary). PBO has always gotten shit done for those of all walks of life who have been forgotten, marginalized, and brutalized. He truly sees everyone and respects their humanity.
Reportedly among the possible running mates: Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., former Maryland governor and presidential contender Martin O’Malley, and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro.
“It would be a balanced and diverse ticket, and it would be two firsts: a female as president and a Latino as vice president,” Rep. Lacy Clay, D-Mo., said of a Clinton-Castro ticket. “I think it’s a better reflection of America than what the other side can offer.”
Another possible candidate is someone who already has plenty of experience in the post — current Vice President Joe Biden.
Because the party is attempting to gain seats in Congress and provide a smooth transition from the Obama administration, Democrats may seek a youthful running mate who offers balance in race and gender matters, as well.
Df, I have had many Latino friends say that Julian Castro is the way to go. I think Elizabeth Warren should stay in the Senate and I doubt that VP Biden would accept the number 2 role under Clinton. In any case, it would be wise of her to actually secure the nomination before she picks a running mate.
Castro. For sure. Warren isn’t even a good fit - she doesn’t appreciate the nuances required of national elections, and the entire MSM narrative would be the competing women (whether it would be true or not).
You and me, CIC of TOD, ‘cept I’m having my eyes dilated in one hour, and I’m not sure they are open yet!! Won’t be able to see well most of the day, so getting out all the greetings now. New Moon tomorrow: 11 Nov 2015. 19.01 Scorpio. 12:47pm EST. 9:47am PST. That’s all folks! <3
The more questions arise about the veracity of Ben Carson’s personal background, the more the Republican presidential candidate characterizes himself as a victim of unfair scrutiny. There’s a tactical value to the argument – it’s vastly easier to attack news organizations than defend inconsistencies in his record – that simultaneously panders to far-right activists who remain convinced that President Obama wasn’t vetted in the 2007-2008 race.
Carson told NBC’s Chris Jansing over the weekend, “I have always said that I expect to be vetted. But being vetted and what is going on with me, ‘You said this 30 years ago, you said this 20 years ago, this didn’t exist, this didn’t.’ You know, I just, I have not seen that with anyone else. Or if you can show me where that’s happened with someone else, I will take that statement back.”
NBC News’ First Read highlighted some details that Carson may not remember from eight years ago.
We found a combined 165 New York Times and Washington Post articles that were all (or partially) about Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright between the time Obama first launched his presidential bid (Feb. 2007) and his 2008 victory (Nov. 2008). During that same time period, we found an additional 41 New York Times and Washington Post pieces on Obama and Bill Ayers.
This doesn’t even touch on the conspiratorial questions about Obama’s birthplace.
………………………..
Carson feels put upon, as if he’s been singled out by reporters overeager to pick on him, largely because he’s not at all accustomed to being scrutinized. He was a celebrated surgeon, whose judgment and credibility was unquestioned.
Now that he’s seeking the nation’s highest office, Carson suddenly finds media professionals asking him about his claims that appear to untrue – and he’s outraged. How dare journalists press a presidential candidate about dubious stories he may have made up. Don’t they understand? He’s Ben Carson!
Rikyrah, I wish the media would start applying the same level of scrutiny to empty suit Rubio and nightmare Cruz. They represent the real danger to our future. Ben Carson will never be president.
Linda, is it because suing a physician for malpractice is a Republican bugaboo? In Republican bizarro world, doctors are supposed to do whatever they want without patients having legal recourse when something goes wrong. Carson would garner a lot of sympathy if he claimed he was persecuted because of permissive malpractice laws.
GOOD MORNING TOD FAMILY…..ITS NOT A GREAT DAY HERE…I SAW THE JUDGE’S DENIAL ON THE IMMIGRATION RULINGS…SO THIS DARKENS MY DAY…ALSO…THERE HAS BEEN A FINAL DECISION REACHED ON ARIZONA….PLAIN AND SIIMPLE…CAN’T AFFORD THE MOVE AND MY SPOUSE IS NOT WELL AND HESITANT TO START OVER…SO AM HERE BUT STILL MOVING THIS SPRING TO A SMALLER PLACE…THIS HOUSE IS TOO MUCH FOR ME…GOD WILLING…WILL PROBABLY GO NORTH AWAY FROM THESE DESTRUCTIVE RESIDENTS HERE AND HE WILL STAY WITH THE POLICE DEPARTMENT…………………NOT MY BEST DAY…ON THE GOOD SIDE….I NOW HAVE THE ENERGIZER ON MY FB!
Well, do make an effort to show your (*a-hem* non-existent) gentlemanly side in the final run-up to the starting day [you can manage to pretend for the next 12 to fifteen days]!
Atta-girl! I’m on board - it’s more fun to have a playmate. :D:D
Just make sure you put aside enough (travel) savings for both of us in the interim, as I keep working on the sunshine!
You noticed, and they’re all around the 3yrs or less marker. Something in the TOD water the grandparents drink here, do you think? /think I’ll play it safe and not drink any more than a sip per day until all the results are in/
GM, TOD!
Interesting!

He’s done so much for this country on so many levels for so many people from every walk of life. I expect the awards to continue forever.

It feels like it’s about time, doesn’t it!
I would say so indeed! Long past time…, but better late than never. :)
It’s past time:) WAY past time!!
Took them long enough! (Rachel Maddow I’m looking at you)

that would be too sensible. In her mind, she has already received the crown. #nomoreclintons #none

Thank you Jackie! Had an outrageously early start, so most probably will be grumpy for a week :-)

Happens to most surgeons Linda - tis why their insurance is very high.

Honest, straight forward piece on DelCoDems. BTW, Phil Herron is a very proud alum of HBCU - Lincoln University!

Evening Noah fan. Hope you had a dry Tuesday after your exciting Monday with cyclones, lots of lights, firelights, etc!
How come you get to see Noah in these videos - do you have the same kind of IP-hiding gizmo that Lib-L has?
Today was dry and calm. So a fun diwali.
No IP hiding tricks. Guess if you are true fan, you can see ’em. 8-)
You are SO mean!!!!
