It could have been even worse.

My hope is that the world will not go all fear struck and start vowing to do stupid things on line with what the GOP is promoting here…most of the folks that the ISIS is targeting and killing have been Muslims…Most of the men and women fighting ISIS are Muslim…the coalition that the President has been able to gather are predominately from Muslim countries…

i think that we all have to see…that we are all in this together….that we must act as one…for us to be able to meet this challenge..and to defeat it.

        Hi pf58,

I understand all the reasons, all the excuses why President Obama has not pursued legal action against GWB, Cheney and all the other war criminals in GWB’s Administration, but the reality is that until those individuals are held accountable, America will be crippled by their vast crimes against humanity.

A day of reckoning has happened, over and over again, one civilization after another. Our day of reckoning will come. I’d prefer it happened because WE, Americans, are the ones who held accountable those monstrous criminals.

I’ve wanted to see us wait until closer to the end of the President’s second term, and now pretty much looks like the time to me. They must be held accountable for what they’ve spawned and how they’ve destroyed lives all over the planet. They’ve got to pay a price, or else others will just continue spreading their wars. Give justice a chance, give peace a chance, or we’re all doomed. And I don’t say that lightly.

As new revelations are brought to light….it will interesting to see how the President handles this….given the climate in this country, i am not sure what would happen if the President sought to bring criminal charges against the ex Vice President and President …something that has never happened before…he would be walking on uncharted ground…sigh..what would the charges be….and what would be the penalty…lawd…sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen….

Bob, we can try them for lying us into a war, but their argument will be that the information they had made them believe that war was necessary. If I’m not mistaken everyone thought it was a good idea to go into Afghanistan, it was only after we went into Iraq did people start to question the rational for war. I’m not saying that those that led us to war shouldn’t be held accountable, I’m just saying that saying that they lied us into war and proving that they lied us into war are two different things. If I were Cheney I’d say the CIA told me that Saddam Hussien had weapons of mass destruction and leave it at that.

I don’t believe it will ever happen Bob - it would be more likely, if charges were thought to be close - as with Nixon - that a presidential pardon would be given.

‘ A US air strike has targeted the leader of the Islamic State (IS) group in Libya and probably killed him, the Pentagon says.

Iraqi national Abu Nabil, also known as Wissam Najm Abd Zayd al-Zubaydi, was a “long-time al-Qaeda operative”, it said. ‘

These targeted attacks have been relentless. I’m sure we’re seeing lots of comments today from rwnjs about PBO’s liberal lassitude, but I’m also sure the terrorist organizations do not see it that way at all.

Just the opposite of what the RWNJ sees, I remember one morning watching Morning Joe, he said that in the middle east the only thing that is normal are the constant sounds of drones overhead. Morning Joe said it is like listening to a lawnmower all day long.

        Aloha Arapaho.
The strikes have been so relentless, they don’t get a lot of press any more. Ho hum, another day another major ISIL pod squashed. More of PBO’s quiet fierceness.

Ohhhhh this will be great…asking the candidates to comment on the recent terrorist attacks on Paris…giving them a chance to bash the President…and to comment on a course of action…to events which they do not have intelligence on….and are not privy to…should be interesting to see what vision each candidate has re: Foreign Policy…

The only thing that will shock me is if Hillary bashes the President, which I don’t think she will do. She has sat in the situation room so she knows the deal. I also don’t think that O’Malley will have anything negative to say about President Obama, which brings me to Bernie. If Bernie were smart he would defer to the President, but he might not be able to help himself.

Don’t you know they’re scrambling today to frame their message, develop quotable catch phrases, and gather the latest intel so what they say today doesn’t haunt them tomorrow.

I am with you, Obama Grandmama! I will vote for Martin O’Malley, if he is still in the race, in the California primary in June. His sober and thoughtful statement convinces me that he has the temperament that I look for in a president.

Peeking in on my way to work. Was at a concert last night and one of the band members mentioned Paris. At the time, I didn’t know what he was referring to; then I came home and onto TOD and saw the news. My heart broke.

I caught myself thinking, “Well, I guess we should step up domestic security at sporting events and such, and I would probably avoid movie theaters and other public gathering places for near future.” Then it occurred to me: We already have gunmen shooting up movie theaters, schools, etc. on a regular basis here in the U.S. The only difference is they are 99.9% of the time not yelling “God is Great” in foreign language and they almost invariably are light-skinned.

Why are those events now “ho hum” for the news and not driving the debates? I hope someone at the Dem debate (probably O’Malley would be the most likely, since gun safety is his issue) brings this up. We already live with the daily prospect of shootings and mass violence by some crazy shooter. When the violence is perpetrated by a foreign crazy person, the press wants to know about solutions. If the shooter is domestic, it’s business as usual.

Anyway, just venting. I’m doing my best to visualize light and love encircling and healing the earth now. And I am so thankful that PBO is our President.

Last week me and the wife and kid went to see Spectre and it never crossed my mind that someone could or would open fire on all the people that were in the theatre.
