Also, we will begin the process of getting info for people to be screened for the WH visit. As of now the date for the White House is June 16th with the 17th as a backup date.
Uh oh - I had been anticipating that we would meet the following weekend, June 24/25/26. We are taking our first-ever Overseas Adventure Travel trip to Peru and don’t get home until June 21st. You have to plan for what is best for the majority, so take LOTS of pictures, and I will be there in spirit.
Donna, I definitely want to go. I am planning on it. The last time I saw inside the White House was 1958 or 59, and I want to see it while our beloved POTUS and FLOTUS are there. So, count me in. I am saving money and am excited to meet other TODers. I can’t think of any group I’d rather be in D.C. with.
My husband and I went in 2009, and saw the three war memorials: World War II for my father, Viet Nam for his high school buddy, and Korea for him. I was determined to get him to that before he was unable to go. It was a wonderful visit.

I have horrible memories of Henrico County, VA. Labor Day weekend 1975, my fiance, 4 of his buddies and I were driving from Camp LeJeune to Philly; stopped for “speeding.” Based on comments and slurs from the trooper, we were stopped for DWB in a Lincoln Continental. Insult to injury was added when the trooper asked “if I was giving them a “group rate” for a “fun” night?” Since we were “out-of-towners,” we had to follow the cop to a kangaroo court and fork out a couple of hundred bucks in order to prevent the driver going to jail. Didn’t matter that we weren’t speeding — we were in a stream of traffic. Didn’t matter that we were six Marines on the way home for tuxedo fittings and a holiday weekend. We were profiled as 5 “N-words” and a “ho” driving in a car that the trooper probably couldn’t afford. Today, I realize how “lucky” we were to get out of there for a couple of $$$; today, the same scenario could result in the forfeit of life…
