    More Bush Mess.

    http://www.addictinginfo.org/2015/12/01/former-u-s-special-forces-commander-confirms-bush-invasion-of-iraq-created-isis/

The fact that Bush created ISIS isn’t all, either. President Bush also released the future leader of ISIS claiming that he was “harmless.” Mission accomplished, asshole.

That’s right, the former commander of U.S. Special Forces under President George W. Bush put the nail in the coffin once and for all about who is responsible for the rise of ISIS in Syria and Iraq, and guess what, conservatives? It’s NOT President Obama.

Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn is now retired, so he has no problem setting history straight. During an interview with German newspaper Der Spiegel, Flynn admitted that the Bush administration was “too dumb” to realize they had captured Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. So they released him because they didn’t deem him a threat. Now, the guy is the top commander of the terrorist group known as ISIS.

Anyone with any darn sense knows that Bush invasion of Iraq is the cause of ISIS, the only one who don’t know that is the right wing nuts.

Good morning, TOD! Busy day today — up to my ears in paperwork; have infusion treatment; trying to get to B’more for an author talk/book signing this evening. Pray for me!

If any of you are interested is a GREAT read — I highly recommend Quilt of Souls. Synopsis fr amazon: Like many Black Americans of the mid-twentieth century, Phyllis Lawson’s parents moved from their hometown of Livingston, Alabama to the big city in search of a better life. It wasn’t long before hardships left them unable to provide.

Soon, four-year-old Phyllis is plucked off her front porch, ripped away from the only family she knows, and sent to live with her grandmother Lula on an Alabama farm with no electricity, plumbing, or running water.

Heartbroken by her mother’s abandonment, Phyllis struggles to acclimate to her new surroundings. Thanks to the unconditional love of Grandma Lula and the healing powers of an old, tattered quilt, she is finally able to adjust to her new life.

In Quilt of Souls, Lawson documents her childhood growing up with the incredible woman who raised her and the powerful family heirloom that served as the cloth that would forever stitch their lives together.

With its tales of family, despair, freedom and hope, the true story behind this deeply personal memoir serves as the inspiration for http://www.quiltofsouls.net, where individuals share relics and stories from their own family histories.

The author will be at the Pratt Library, 400 Cathedral Street, Baltimore, MD 2120, tonight at 6:30 pm. http://calendar.prattlibrary.org/event/brown_lecture_phyllis_lawson_quilt_of_souls#.VlW663arSJA

Can’t think of a better way to start the day than listening to our President. In placing climate change front and center, President Obama is not only leading the people, he’s expressing the deep concerns of a majority of American. Knucklehead right wingers are the exception to that, but then they always are an exception to common sense.

Dudette, I think telling Rosa Parks to get in the back of the bus, was the old Republican Party. Today’s R party would call an officer to forcible remove her from the bus, beat her, taze her and maybe even shoot her . They wouldn’t even give her the dignity of making a choice.

      GM, TOD ohana.

PBO and Michelle’s beauty quotients continue to increase rather than decrease. Must have something to do with joyful service, caring hearts, healthy living, the loyalty of family and friends, and not getting into the mud with the haters. There are many in the current political sphere who would benefit from their example.

Jer, there is one thing that Bill Gates and President Obama have in common and it isn’t intelligence or vision-they both married well. Melinda Gates has been a force for good in the world and has put her heart into the The Gates foundation work in Africa. And as for our FLOTUS, well let’s just say she is a star in every sense of that word.

    A very Good Read..

    from the essay..

White people are right that they are under attack — they’re just pointing to the wrong culprits. For the wealthy elite who fund the political operatives and media companies that tell white people who to blame for their plight, the race war is a very useful substitute for the class war.

White America has not been terrorized by people of color; we have terrorized people of color.
What’s new in this moment is the Republican establishment’s losing control of the grassroots for the first time in the post–civil rights era. Instead of the corporate Republicans winning the white vote with coded racist language, the grassroots outsiders are competing with one another to be more and more openly racist.

I wish I could take the remarks of President Obama about not living in fear and put it on a continuous loop for the members of my family, friends and neighbors who see bogeymen everywhere. But my absolutely favorite line of this presser was when he said,” I’m CONFIDENT that a Democrat will succeed me!!! I was grinning from ear to ear when he said that. NEVER bet against our president.

Antiabortion rhetoric unwittingly unleashes the unhinged

By Dana Milbank Opinion writer November 30 at 6:13 PM

Though we do not know everything about Robert Lewis Dear, the alleged killer in the Colorado Planned Parenthood shooting, it’s probably safe to say he’s not a transgender liberal.

Ted Cruz, however, isn’t so sure. “The media promptly wants to blame him on the pro-life movement when at this point there’s very little evidence to indicate that,” the Republican presidential candidate said in Iowa on Sunday afternoon.

Um, but what about the law enforcement official telling The Washington Post and others that Dear (who distributed anti-Obama pamphlets, according to a neighbor) explained the shooting by saying “no more baby parts”?

“It’s also been reported that he was registered as an independent and a woman and transgendered leftist activist,” Cruz countered, apparently referring to a voter list identifying him as female. “If that’s what he is, I don’t think it’s fair to blame on the rhetoric on the left. This is a murderer.”

In one sense, I agree with Cruz. The antiabortion movement did not kill those three people in Colorado Springs. The one responsible is the deranged gunman himself. But it’s a different matter to ask whether the often-violent imagery used by conservative leaders on abortion is unwittingly giving the unhinged some perverse sense of justification to contemplate the unspeakable.

I Got the Laquan McDonald Video Released, but Chicago Is Still Covering Up His Death

The city hasn’t released all the dashcam videos, emails, and statements from eight other cops who saw Jason Van Dyke pump 16 bullets into the teen. What are they hiding?A week ago today, Chicago released a police video of Laquan McDonald being killed by Officer Jason Van Dyke. A week later, and more than 13 months after Laquan’s death, the city is still hiding most of the evidence about what really happened.

I’m the journalist who sued Chicago and won the release of the video that showed Laquan being shot to death 16 times on Oct. 20, 2014. But I m not stopping there. With the help of attorneys, I’m continuing my Freedom of Information Act request of the city to release officer statements made to investigators, emails from city officials, and more. The public needs to know what as many as eight officers did immediately after the shooting, as well as how the department handled what should’ve been plainly seen as murder by one of its own officers that night.

What did these officers do following the shooting? In the first video released, you don’t see them bending down to comfort or render aid to Laquan.

Instead, police moved around some of their vehicles. We know this because video from a car that arrived on scene five minutes after the shooting shows a different configuration of cars than were seen when Van Dyke fired. This is important because each of these cruisers records what happens in front of them thanks to dashcams. Police have said that the five videos they released are the only ones from the scene that night, but police did not release video from the police car that likely shows Laquan’s face—and thus likely shows the shooting from the clearest angle.

Trump To CNN: Give Me $5 Million Or I Won’t Be At Your Next Debate

    BySARA JERDE

    PublishedDECEMBER 1, 2015, 10:47 AM EST

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump threatened Monday that he may not attend CNN’s next debate unless the network forks over $5 million, which the real estate mogul said would go to charity.

Trump pulled the stunt once before, demanding that CNN donate the proceeds from its September Republican presidential debate to a charity. The network didn’t publicly comment on the request and Trump ultimately participated in the debate.

Trump again floated the idea of the network donating money to charity in exchange for his participation during a campaign rally in Georgia.

    Sneed exclusive: Emanuel fires McCarthy

Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy has been fired by Mayor Rahm Emanuel, sources said Tuesday.

McCarthy was called into City Hall on Monday and when he left City Hall he still had a job. But overnight, the mayor called McCarthy to tell him he was out.

Headlines from the Laquan McDonald controversy, as well those following the gang execution of Tyshawn Lee, had become too much, according to sources.
