Hello, everyone. I may be new here, but you all will remember me from our days on OFA (ions ago). I wished I had joined on a better day, but have always been reading up here first.

So my husband works down the street from where this went down and was on lockdown. He was in clinic this shooting could have so easily been where he works. I haven’t heard from him as to whether the lockdown is over, but he did text me he was in lockdown and safe about an hour ago. I was so scared. I sure hope they catch these guys.

This is SICK. I don’t know what to say anymore. Saying thoughts and prayers go out to the victims is like scratching a sore wound…right now a complete waste of time and emotions…

My thoughts and prayers are with the families, how about you Republicans get off your stupid asses and put an end to the easy access of those weapons that is just meant for the battlefield.

Now cause you are running for President, you want to act like you are so concern for the victims. If the Republicans and cowardly Democrats would do their job, and show more concern about the public, then they show for their job.

The odd lurker - the downsizing & moving wiped me out - I chose a good time to miss all the news - but coming back in today - maybe I should have stayed away. But - its always lovely to see you and the TODers

The ONLY thing the GOP can offer is prayers - which have worked so well in preventing massacres. We have many political problems, but I am thankful that we can still go to work, school, doctors and churches without the fear of being shot.

The first post I saw today was FLOTUS and Christmas - and then the goodness of the 1st Family disappeared from the media to be replaced by NRA thugs and RWNJ haters. HAS to be the result of the GOP generating such hate over the past many years. The people reap what they voted for.

        • December 2, 2025 at 8:03 pm

Is the moving all done now? Are you lodged in your new abode?

We’ve moved - as MightyP discovered - its a culture shock. Mr 99 is trying to keep me sane. People who design fancy new units are all show and no substance - rather like the GOP - all prayer and no action.

1st world problems - when I think what PBO is having to handle today - not really relevant.

            • December 2, 2025 at 8:21 pm

My last move was 10 years ago - and I’m still recovering. So I feel for ya! Hope you settle in soon and it truly feels like home!

99ts, I know what you mean. I still have a couple of boxes that I don’t know where to put the stuff - it’s only been a year. :-)

                December 2, 2025 at 8:45 pm

We still have 21 boxes at a friend’s place!! He has a big shed. All my furniture was too big - so we have a cabinet maker doing some new stuff (no-one sells small furniture) - that will probably take about 6 of the boxes - the rest??

I now understand those who say they’ll go out in a box. I’m not thinking to move again.

TS!!! I knew your silence had something to do with this (well, okay, I guessed when you were missing so long). :D Sure hope your settling in and acceptance of the new reduced space works way, way, way better than MP’s scenario!

            December 2, 2025 at 8:48 pm

Thanks vc - I do probably have more space than MP (about half size of our previous home) - 33 years since I last moved - seemed it was easy - guess youth and fitness have something to do with it - so stay fit if you intend to move :)

That would be a stretch if there are any Muslim’s living in San Bernadino. The guys had to live close by to leave and return with the weapons.

    GE TODville.

I’ve seen reports of what @latimes is reporting, and agree with LL the “fed” scenario makes no sense — this guy had buddies willing to go along with this horror and just happened have enough masks and vests for everyone? Why shoot (at least) over 30 people if you wanted to kill one person?

Residents of the lockdown area in SanBerdoo are frantic (apparently 8 square blocks with dozens [hundreds?] of homes) because some family members are trapped inside while the others can’t get in.

Focus now is in Redlands (where @JamesFallows grew up).

I know it’s being reported that this is possibly the result of a workplace dispute. I’m having a hard time with that theory because (1) the “disgruntled” employee leaves and comes back with others dressed in assault garb because of a workplace dispute? Usually in these cases, it’s a single shooter. (2) The people the shooter returned with could have been relatives/gang member associates. The police chief said that they were looking for and found an explosive device, that’s why they were so cautious about approaching the van after the suspects were killed. Gang members don’t usually deal in bombs. I will concede that it didn’t seem to be a very well thought out plan. If this was in fact the case, we will know everything very shortly. The PD will make known gang members and their families lives a living, breathing hell and trust me, people will squeal like pigs. (no offense to pigs).

Seriously. I’m sick about it, myself. Tried not watching news today, tried to start a little Christmas decorating. Then to see this. Makes you want to get in the fetal position, thumb in your mouth, before you remind yourself you have to pull yourself up and keep pushing. I think we’ve all had the “ENOUGH” everybody keeps mentioning. And yet we’re mostly too worn down to take to the streets and demand new gun laws. PTSD.

My thoughts, your thoughts, our thoughts and prayers are with the Families involved, but is this what we keep doing everyday, every moment, every time gun violence happens. So we just simply say our thoughts and prayers are with the victims. Come on AMERICA, this is not good enough, it’s not solving the problem, we just sit and wait for another shooting? So we can give our condolences? Is this what AMERICA does, just give condolences???? Lord Jesus help us all
