I’m not entirely sure, I don’t think they’re a particularly Ireesh thing, more Britty - I kind of associate them with people like Del Boy in Only Fools and Horses.
Syed Rizwan Farook, one of two killers in the San Bernardino shooting, was apparently radicalized and in touch with international terrorism suspects, law enforcement officials said on Thursday.
Twenty-one people were wounded in Wednesday’s deadly shooting, up from 17, San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan said in a press briefing on Thursday. Fourteen people were killed in the attack.
Police found a pipe bomb at the location that had a remote control device that appeared not to have worked, Burguan said. A search of the shooters’ home also revealed 12 pipe bomb-type devices, he said.

May 2014, down the street from my friend’s son who was attending college there at the time, Elliot Rodger shot or stabbed six people and injured four because girls were not going out with him.
On June 17, 2025 Dylann Roof shot ten, killing nine in a church because he hated black people and hoped to start a race war.
On October 1 Christopher Mercer shot and killed nine and injured nine others because he was a virgin and he didn’t like Black men.
Last Friday Robert Dear shot up a medical clinic because “baby parts”
Now this tragedy in San Bernadino.
Does it matter whether I risk being shot up by someone who hates me in English or another language? Does it matter if they shoot everyone on behalf of Christ, Mohamed or their own angst?
Insert motive and ideology here_________ .
Bottom line is, the US is the world leader in shooting up a place.
Exactly MadameSoph - I s about to post something similar. The name of the killer, their exact motive or whether or not they had “contact with foreigners” make no difference to the people who are dead from the gun violence or their loved ones who have to deal with the aftermath.
The ease of assault weapons purchase is the issue. Of course, it may take a couple more mass shootings from killers with muslim-sounding names for the NRA and GOP to lift a finger on changing gun laws…but that’s going to be very difficult to do after they’ve said that the issue is mental illness and not guns…
Agree about the ease of assault weapons, etc. purchases being the main issue. The thing is, I thought Sandy Hook would have been the turning point, then the next massacre, then the next…
When the killers have names or motives that are “Muslim” related, GOP just pushes, “Terrorism! Not safe! Them vs. Us!” etc. and gun access is ignored. If they have white skin or “Christian” inspired motives, then “mental illness” “if the victims had had guns” etc. become the conversation drivers. I am feeling kind of hopeless regarding any gun legislation in the near future.
I think Wendall Pierce had it about right on Twitter the other day, “If every Black male 18-35 applied for a conceal & carry permit, and then joined NRA in one day; there would be gun control laws in a second.” If it was in an open carry state, legislation would be brought forth even faster.
From a Newsweek Article (7/24/15):
“‘There is no reason why on the street today a citizen should be carrying a loaded weapon.’ ~ Ronald Reagan
In his statement, issued as governor in May 1967, Reagan was referring to members of the Black Panther Party—Second Amendment absolutists—who walked into the California State House openly carrying rifles to protest a gun control bill.”
Madame Soph, your question-“does it matter if I risk being shot by someone who hates me in English or another language”-is the best of the day. It doesn’t matter to ordinary people, but it seems to make all the difference to the media and Republican politicians. Speak foreign and they can blame it on PBO. Speak English and they hem, haw and forget it really happened.
{{Chips}}, I truly wish that it wouldn’t be necessary anymore or that it would be rare. I signed the petition and gave money to Americans for Responsible Solutions. I, also, sent an email today to two republican Assemblyman and I signed an on-line poll a few days ago to override Gov. Christie’s veto on Assembly bill S2360, this was a bill that would stop mentally ill people from obtaining a gun. My assembly members are already supporting this override, so I thanked them.
So now, Nena, comes the outrage about PBO being a dictator and ‘coming for our guns.” The media and Republican politicos probably have it on tape and just cue and press play.
In the coming campaign season Dem candidates need to coordinate their messaging to focus on the well deserved brand of the GOP as extremist radicals bent on tearing down government, destroying the middle class to further enrich billionaires, and blocking gun safety to protect the wealthy gun lobby.
Awwwww, so cute.
So how did the jerseys get put on them - are they real or photo shopped onto the dog & puppies? Same for the jersey’s on the cats???
Got the pics off Google, but I’m pretty sure they are real Gail. I know Pippa the Man United cat is real. She is a YouTube star. Her dad is an insane (perhaps literally :-) ) Man U fan.
Pippa even has Man United rubber duckies to play with:
I didn’t even know that soccer could generate these vast sums of money. Now before anyone attacks me, let me say that most of the comments I make here are for my enjoyment. I like to entertain myself, these threads are my personal playground. Though on occasion I may inform, it is purely by accident, carry on.
In a serious reply, soccer DIDN’T used to make so much money. Sepp Blatter, bless his venal heart, did turn soccer into a marketing juggernaut. Fifa was a mickey mouse operation before he took over. Then he turned it into the NFL.
Rewatching Downton Abbey in preparation for the beginning of the final season. Just got finished with Sybil’s death - still gets me to bawl everytime I watch it.
Once I found out that he worked with the folks that were shot, sadly, I just filed this under ‘ Post Office Rampage.’
You can miss me about him being ‘ radicalized’.
This was just a workplace shooting, the only difference is that his wife joined him in the Bonnie & Clyde killing spree.
Maybe, rikyrah.
The 12 pipe bombs are not exactly consistent with this theory, though. Unless the plan was to blow up the entire building where the man worked.
Hi @JerryBrownGov
Set an example
MANDATE #LiabilityInsurance for ALL #CA gun/ammo producers, sellers, & users
#GunViolence
cc @POTUS @VP
— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) December 3, 2025
I’ll match the insurance industry & its lobbyists against the guns/ammo industry all day long and I have a new twist that I’m now suggesting to President Obama …
And @POTUS
Consider an EO requiring all Fed weapons contractors to have #LiabilityInsurance for guns/ammo sold in US
@VP @JerryBrownGov
Good find, 57F. It made me look further re 18th Amendment because given the furor Repubs make about amendments I thought they were written in stone.
.@cp_deb: Your tweet peaked my curiosity and I found this short (2:46) informative, and relevant, video clip. https://t.co/zOjBH4aFh0
The RWNJ’s who extol the Constitution don’t know what “amendments” are. I heard an idiot fighting with a progressive radio host yesterday that the Bill of Rights is “sacred” (their newest fantasy) and can’t be changed. The Bill of Rights are AMENDMENTS.
Apart from the accepted meanings of words I confess ignorance of, and some apathy towards, most of this ‘political’ stuff, 57F. However, to me the problem is not that loud idiots have dumb arguments; it’s that their arguments are rarely refuted in a public forum.
Excellent maps and discussion of the gerrymandering cases:
‘ Since new maps were drawn before the 2012 election, courts have weighed in on them in 22 states. Five years after the census and less than a year away from the 2016 election, five states are still waiting on judges to determine the fate of their districts. Their decisions could help Democrats chip away at the Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives. ‘
After the speech, conservative activist Gary Bauer said that Trump had lost momentum by refusing to give a clear answer on Jerusalem.
“When it started, they were skeptical, and you could feel the room warming to him,” said Bauer. “I think he turned a lot of people. And then he lost them, because he couldn’t just say, ‘of course, Jerusalem is the capital, we won’t negotiate on that.'”
In Japan
To get a gun in Japan, first, you have to attend an all-day class and pass a written test, which are held only once per month. You also must take and pass a shooting range class. Then, head over to a hospital for a mental test and drug test (Japan is unusual in that potential gun owners must affirmatively prove their mental fitness), which you’ll file with the police. Finally, pass a rigorous background check for any criminal record or association with criminal or extremist groups, and you will be the proud new owner of your shotgun or air rifle. Just don’t forget to provide police with documentation on the specific location of the gun in your home, as well as the ammo, both of which must be locked and stored separately. And remember to have the police inspect the gun once per year and to re-take the class and exam every three years.
Here is what I’m thinking with regard to beginning to lessen deaths from gun violence in our country.
My idea is that we come at this problem first by doing things we all can agree on.
For example, gun safety in the home.
Just as years ago we had massive TV and written ad campaigns to train us to use our seatbelts—great public service ads by the popular stars of the time. TV shows and movies co-operated. You’d see everybody buckling up . In time, it worked. Fewer auto crash deaths.
Something like that could bridge the gap between opposing sides of the gun issue.
Public service ads by popular public figures encouraging responsible gun ownership.
Locking guns and making sure the keys are available only to responsible members of your family.
Just watched Josh Ernest Press Briefing. What a bunch of illiterate assholes the press core is. It was really hard to finish it. You have to love Josh to put up with the B. But he was taking no shit today. Loved it.

Are XMas jumpers a European thing, or just for your two god-forsaken islands?

i wonder how they know about his contacts….was there literature…just a few hours ago…they said that they did not know what was the motive…
Well, the investigators are at his house, in possession of his computers. I imagine they’re looking at the websites he viewed, etc.
ok…thanks

Forget my five paragraph rants. That one sentence is all one needs to say. I vote for yours :-)
So, Il Douche spoke at the Republican Jewish Conference and his speech was basically one long litany of Jewish stereotypes.
It was astounding……..
“Il Douche”…. Perfetto!
I’m going to steal that one for personal use :-)
is it just me or does he sound like he has a cold?
AMK, you forgot to add that these forms are available in thick pads pads at your local mall, grocery store and pharmacist.

I would be very surprised if this happens….as Jackie G said to me a few weeks ago…We have to be the ones to bring change
We should be hearing it 24/7. It shouldn’t be a new idea. We are lousy at branding.
then there is this….
