The response to this week’s mass shooting will be more regulation of people who don’t own guns. More metal detectors. More security checks. More training on how we’re to respond when a gun owner goes nuts. It’s a lie that there’s “no” response to these shootings. There’s a response. The response is to tighten up security for the rest of us in order not to inconvenience gun owners.
Do you think maybe gun owners could accept a teeny tiny bit of regulation so the rest of us don’t have to live on lock down? Thanks in advance.

Morning. I noticed in last night’s post that many people were worried that the criticism of our President will overshadow his message tonight. There’s no doubt the buffoons in the media and on the campaign trail will do their worst, but frankly, I don’t care and neither, I believe do our POTUS and FLOTUS. The President will be speaking to those with open minds who will listen to him and number is in the millions. Those are the people we have to seek out and talk to and get out to vote. Haters are gonna hate. But activists, who care for their country, are going to fight,
oops, meant to say the buffoons with “try” their worst.

Sometimes I yearn to go back to a time in which I wasn’t as politically conscious as I am now. I miss those days of being ignorant of the issues, of being totally oblivious of all things political. Then one day I opened up my eyes to my surroundings and I’ve been in hell ever since. At what cost to my sanity have I paid for opening up my eyes? Sometimes I envy those that don’t know or don’t care to know, but then again maybe they do know. But one thing is clear to me now, I could never see myself going back to not knowing.
THIS. Of course, I always remember myself being politically aware from a very young age…11 or 12….I used to write poetry to help me cope with my feelings of anger and frustration about Vietnam and have long conversations at the dinner table with my parents about heady things that would confound some adults even today. I choose awareness.
DF, I remember those conversations like it was yesterday. My father was into local politics, he would rail on and on about some issue or another. Of course my only concern back then was asking him for money to go the movies, right about now I’d give my right arm just to talk to him about President Obama. He did live to see President Obama get elected, but my mom didn’t.
My mom would have been amazed and so proud of President Obama:) Sadly, she isn’t here to have those conversations with anymore. She died in 1998, waiting for a heart transplant that never came. I miss her everyday and cherish those talks that she encouraged…I still talk to her about things, but it’s just not the same without her really here. I am all I am because of her.
GM TOD family, get well soon Chipsticks. Don, i regret not being more active earlier at 18yrs old, knowing more about ballet issues and candidates from local to national. I wish i campaigned against the destructive prop 13 and campaigned for good candidates, encouraged more young people to vote. Maybe we would not be battling to regain hard fought victories like voting rights and rights for women to control our own bodies. I thank PBO for opening our minds about this is about OUR government not about a candidate who is the first this or that….its how will our politicians will govern for ALL not just for the rich.

In answer to Gov. Brown (who happens to be correct!) our Gov. “ALEC/KOCH BRO SHILL” is having a temper tantrum and demanding an apology! Fucking idiot. I will write him, or call this week and give him a piece of my mind…he just spent the weekend at an ALEC gathering at a fancy resort and gave a speech there….He’ll say and do whatever his masters tell him to..damn the facts. If this state could get away with it, every newborn would leave the hospital with a shiny new weapon. No lie.
