    I was a bit confused saying to myself : ” I thought his appearance at this was cancelled” and that FLOTUS would fill in;

    then I remembered the earlier function in the White House that precedes the performance at the Kennedy Center;

    ok it makes sense now - I am really slow

          //Stephen Colbert, host of the CBS talk show “The Late Show,” emcees the Dec. 6 Kennedy Center Honors ceremony, saluting singer-songwriter Carole King, actresses Cicely Tyson and Rita Moreno, filmmaker George Lucas, conductor Seiji Ozawa and rock group the Eagles.

          The 38th annual celebration takes place at the Opera House at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC. The gala will be recorded for broadcast on the CBS Network as a two-hour primetime special Dec. 29 at 9 PM ET. //

    watching and listening to PBO at this reception, it is hard to think that this is not the only duty he has to perform tonight;

    I don’t know how he manages to multi-task and yet be fully in each moment so that the people he is communicating to feel they are the only ones who matter to him.

    he seems like he has no challenges to solve;

    PBO makes being POTUS seem so easy that it is no surprise that a number of gop fools erroneously thought they are up to the task (that is until they are so incompetent that they can’t even run a campaign for a months);

    American voters and PBO supporters across all parts of the world, we did exceptionally well to make sure that world gets to share his many talents every day he is office

    • 25 hopefruit2
      December 6, 2025 at 5:49 pm

      Indeed. He makes it look a LOT easier than it is…and I pity some of the fools who are rushing in, thinking that the Presidency will be just celebrity photo-ops and endless ranting on Twitter and elsewhere….

      beautiful photo and set up!

      I wonder if any other President has had this kind of set up for a speech in the Oval Office;

      most images I see are of Presidents sitting down at the Resolute desk - could PBO start a trend ?

      • 32 Nena20409
        December 6, 2025 at 6:10 pm

        That will be criticized.
        Why?
        If the News Media and GOPers can’t find anything wrong with tonight’s speech by Pres Obama before 320M Americans, they will pivot to Optics, Tone, Emote or Not Emote. It never fails since Jan 20th, 2015.

        I HAVE TO SAY…THIS IS QUITE UNIQUE THIS EVENING….WISH I HADN’T MISSED HIS EARLIER INTRO AT THE KENNEDY CENTER…THE MEDIA IS EXHAUSTING …ALL THEY WANT TO DO IS WRITE PBO’S SPEECH TONITE FOR HIM….APPARENTLY THEY ARE STILL RUNNING THE COUNTRY! NAUSEATING!

      That’s so fantastic. A cute little story my sister told at Thanksgiving. My sister lives in Atlanta and was visiting one of her friends at the hospital and a nurse came into the room and said, “One of your friends who brought the cookies and had put them out near the nurses station - I just saw President Carter take one and comment how good it was”.

    Our beloved VP

    On longer flights, the Vice President is often in and out of his cabin. He'll cover a lot of business between now and when we land — going over his schedule for the next several days, working on speeches, and getting briefed by staff from the White House, National Security Council, Department of State and Department of Defense. Here, Amos Hochstein, Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs for the State Department, briefs the Vice President in the Senior Staff Cabin aboard Air Force Two, on the way to Ukraine. - DL

    PBo was so cute and funny in his remarks at the reception. No one looking at him would guess that he had such weighty matters to address shortly afterward if we had not be given the word. This ability that he has to be completely present in the midst of the craziness that is the world today is truly remarkable. Of course, the greatest example of his focus was when he was slaying at the WHCD at the time that the bin laden kill raid that he ordered had begun.

    TV and DVR cued up for his 8:00 EST address to the nation. See you afterward.

    It’s so fun to turn on CNN, see their serious mugs, mute ’em, and see their jaws flapping in the breeze. Makes as much sense as it does when you can actually hear them speak.

    Totally plan to turn it all off right after the speech, and form my own opinion of what the President tells the country. Which, I can tell you in advance, will be a good opinion!
