Does anybody here believe that the GOP Party Leaders will do something to stop Trump?
What can they do, at this point, even if they want to, now that it is so out of control?
Liberals like Lawrence O’Donnell think Trump is finished now because he has become so extreme, and that this is Trump’s own exit strategy. They really don’t understand that Trump’s goal is to lead an American fascist movement.
I love the cartoon! Also, it’s not just the GOP/ISIS that want a freak out. The so-called librul media plays a major role, and are enabling the likes of Trump and the GOP. I found myself having to challenge quite a few of them on Sunday night after PBO’s speech.
Here’s an example of a supposedly “liberal” media pundit’s reaction:
honestly, the problem facing Obama now is that he consistently undersold severity of the threat. not much trust left from persuadables
Just like, ACA website, Ebola, immigrant children this past summer. PBO never underestimates the media over hyping non-threats he just takes care of business until the media moves on to the next shiny object.
I saw on NBC nightly news the other night, some tool of a journo was pushing for boots on the ground. then that was of course backed up by some stupid poll supposedly saying how much americans wanted another Middle East ground war (yeah, right).
2 takeaways: 1) Thankful for sites like this that don’t cowtow to the fear or media narrative of the day. 2) disregard any, and all polling from now until at least next january.
Hello TOD on a gloomy Tuesday Midday. Cloudy. Dull.
Congrats to all the Au :star: winners on this post and the last post.
I remembered this from Dr. MLK and thought of what Trump is doing. Not much has changed. I just removed Sen Goldwater with Trump.
GOP went with Goldwater in 1964. The ONLY Freak out from GOPers now is that they remember 1964. They are hoping that the US Media would help them to confuse the Public,……. nearly 45% of GOPers agree with Trump without equivocation. There are leaners and persuadables. Ditto Heads and Followers will fall in line……just as Paul Ryan and Co have stated that they will support their nominee. If they mean business, then they will Kick Trump out, Now!
MLK wrote this in his book.
The Republican Party geared its appeal and program to racism, reaction, and extremism. All people of goodwill viewed with alarm and concern the frenzied wedding at the Cow Palace of the KKK with the radical right. The “best man” at this ceremony was a senator whose voting record, philosophy, and program were anathema to all the hard-won achievements of the past decade.
Senator Goldwater had neither the concern nor the comprehension necessary to grapple with this problem of poverty in the fashion that the historical moment dictated. On the urgent issue of civil rights, Senator Goldwater represented a philosophy that was morally indefensible and socially suicidal. While not himself a racist, Mr. Goldwater articulated a philosophy which gave aid and comfort to the racist. His candidacy and philosophy would serve as an umbrella under which extremists of all stripes would stand. In the light of these facts and because of my love for America, I had no alternative but to urge every Negro and white person of goodwill to vote against Mr. Goldwater and to withdraw support from any Republican candidate that did not publicly disassociate himself from Senator Goldwater and his philosophy.
Josh is the best press secretary of all who have served PBO in this position. He does not get flustered, he shuts down foolishness and he is not conflicted in his loyalties (as I believe Jay Carny was). His beautiful voice and seeming affability may have made some mistake his strength, but I will bet that this does not happen anymore.
As always, be prepared for the wingnuts with their “KKK were Democrats! Robert Byrd was KKK!” arguments.
Of course, they’d love to ignore the fact that the Dixiecrats jumped to the GOP after the Civil Rights Act was passed and have found a home there ever since.
…or maybe some of them are just plain ignorant of that fact.
They knew the number was high.
This didn’t include those who streamed lined. Those who watched it on Al Jazeera, PBS, C-SPAN, etc.
I am hoping that the Media’s Failure continues!
Yes, and that’s why the media (Liberal and conservative alike) were so unhinged that night. They HATED that PBO was able to reach his intended audience directly without their filtered, uninformed garbage.
the President knew that We The PEOPLE cared…that is who he was talking to…and this is why the GOP and the their allies in the media have been so desperately trying to twist and turn and distort the President’s message…
Josh is systematically doing a Dope-a-Rope around the GOP and wrapping Trump all over them and the WHPC are perplexed?
I am in Heaven, right about now.
So Sweet!
Go, Josh!
Nena20409, Josh crushed them whiners today. Oh, Nena, I was screaming Amen on every word of our wonderful PS, Josh. He was on fire today. I know he wanted to go on and say “Hell, we are in the 4th quarter, and we are not going to take this crap any longer.” Basket! It was great. HZ
It’s a rock ’n’ roll show!” Bono shouted not long into U2’s concert Monday night in Paris, but of course he knew it was more than that.
The second of two gigs rescheduled from mid-November, when they were postponed following the terrorist attacks that killed 130 people, Monday’s performance at the AccorHotels Arena represented U2’s proud return to France’s capital. The show, televised on HBO, also served as the final date of the veteran Irish band’s Innocence and Experience Tour.
And it provided a highly visible platform for the reappearance of the Eagles of Death Metal, the Palm Desert group that was playing Nov. 13 at the Bataclan in Paris when terrorists burst into the concert hall and opened fire, killing 89 audience members.
“Now there’s nothing left except to introduce you to some people whose lives will forever be a part of the city of Paris,” Bono said after U2 closed Monday’s set with its song “One.” “These are our brothers, our fellow troubadours. They were robbed of their stage three weeks ago, and we would like to offer them ours tonight.”
Then he welcomed the Eagles of Death Metal onstage to lead a rousing rendition of “People Have the Power” by Patti Smith, who had joined U2 for the same song on Sunday.
I am a U2 Fan.
I was watching the show on HBO last night. I feel asleep. This AM, I found out that HBO will repeat and replay the show many times. This brought :):):) and <3 on my face :)
“This is precisely what ISIS was aiming for — to provoke communities to commit actions against Muslims,” Arie Kruglanski, a professor of psychology at the University of Maryland who researches what motivates people to become terrorists, told the Washington Post. “Then ISIS will be able to say, ‘I told you so. These are your enemies, and the enemies of Islam.’”
One of ISIS’ primary talking points is about eliminating the “grayzone” of coexistence between Muslims and western society. ISIS gains support by convincing vulnerable youths prone to ideological radicalization that the west has an aversion to Islam and, by extension, their families, their various cultures and societies, and them as individuals.
Trump’s Muslim ban is exactly what ISIS wants https://t.co/5kn7rSFxAY
Please!
Because I’m tired of him narrating all thought and conversation.
I’m beginning to feel like human’s have become lab mice - every time he says something, we hang onto it like a mouse would click the crack button - ad nauseam.
Prime Minister David Cameron said they were “divisive, unhelpful and quite simply wrong”.
“Donald Trump sounds more like a leader of a lynch mob than a great nation like ours,” said Nihad Awad, national executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
“These are not just words… Trump and Carson’s mainstreaming of Islamophobia in the election is inciting discrimination, hate crimes, violent attacks against Muslims and mosques.”
The pro-Jewish Anti-Defamation League said the plan was “deeply offensive and runs contrary to our nation’s deepest values.
“In the Jewish community, we know all too well what can happen when a particular religious group is singled out for stereotyping and scapegoating.”
I don’t understand why Dems are just talking about Trump this issue is the total mindset of the Republican Party, everybody knows regardless what happens their group always comes out to vote. We should continue to tie all this nonsense to Repubs and get the Dems out in full force to vote or all this would just be noise
Joke or no Joke, that Mayor should be prepared…Trump is gonna sue him.
GM JER & Thanks :-)
What has happened to our country that he-who-shall-not be named is not challenged, dismissed and put down and out?
Thank you to AMK and Nerdy. That cartoon says it ALL!

Does anybody here believe that the GOP Party Leaders will do something to stop Trump?

We The People have the power to stop Trump….
They sure have been awfully quiet. No Rinse Prebus.

Delurking to say, jmpo, Drumpf is all performance art. Actually BEING president would require way too much sacrifice.
Cruz, however….
so true.

Maybe that does explain the angry vitriol from Richard Engel and others.
I was on the road and listened on the radio….
the President knew that We The PEOPLE cared…that is who he was talking to…and this is why the GOP and the their allies in the media have been so desperately trying to twist and turn and distort the President’s message…
paging jon fucking stewart
see, that’s wasn’t so hard telling the truth, was it?
And what also really frosts me is that they make a big deal about celebrating Vets, but won’t fund Veterans Administration benefits either.
Josh is systematically doing a Dope-a-Rope around the GOP and wrapping Trump all over them and the WHPC are perplexed?
I am in Heaven, right about now.
So Sweet!
Go, Josh!
Is there anything of substance being discussed at the WHPC today?
In my view, Yes!
I wanted Josh to bring down Trump and the GOP and he is frankly, killing it.
Trump is an inoperable cancer.
HZ

Oops, fell asleep.
Yes, it is one of those efforts that makes you feel really good about most of humanity. Thanks Bono :-)
I taped it and will watch when I feel like dancing along. Don’t laugh. Yes, elderly women still love to dance. Particularly when we are unobserved.
