I see that 24/7 Trump coverage is showing no sign of slowing down. GOP objections seem weak to me.
In Lewiston Maine, a town where (D) registration is Larger than (GOP)
Plus the (D) Mayoral candidate was a young and attractive 3rd generation man named Ben Chin who brought the contest to a runoff last month.
Still, yesterday he was defeated by the (R) incumbent who is an ally of the deranged anti-immigrant Maine Governor Paul LePage.
“History is on our side” a disappointed Mr. Chin said in his concession speech.
“Victory is within reach if not in our grasp.”
2 more years of the (R) Mayor who ran on denying welfare payments to asylum seekers and anti-immigrant venom.
Fear won over decency and registration numbers.

Were my own grandfather alive in 2015, he would have been 130 years old. I think about that timing, often, and how relatively close “150 years ago” seems. What a horrific part of our history - one we must continue to ward off, with people like Trump and his gang around today, ready and willing to take us right back there.

I cannot bear to allow myself to hear his voice, so I missed it.
It seems that many in the US and around the world can stand in solidarity with oppressed groups as long as they are not Black folk. Where is the outcry, the statements from politicians the world over to condemn brutality toward the Black diaspora? Where are the tall headlines that scream out against the genocide that African Americans have faced for centuries? While it is horrible for any group to be marginalized and faced with suspicion, Muslims are not being shot wholesale in the streets and facing the kind of institutional racism that Black people live with everyday. I could go on and speak of the type of prejudice and suspicion that non-black Muslims often have toward Black people, but all I am saying is “injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere” and we must not allow it to stand at any time even if self interest is the only thing that motivates us. Remember the little poem “They came for the Jews?” It is being realized in our world today.
i understand what you say….i i remember signs for Palestine supporting Black Lives Matter….there are many people world wide who understand the struggles of blk folks…if it was not for the internet…if it were not for twitter…we would not be able to connect our struggles…

TWO POINTS about this case:
1. She was too phucking lazy to do the work to get her ass into the top 10% of her class, which would have gotten her into UT. But, heavens forbid anyone non-White get in over her.
2. The thing is…..I think that there were 54 people, I think, that got in before her. But, she only focuses on the 5 or 6 NON-WHITE people on that list. Has anyone ever asked her about all the WHITE people that got in over her?

I am struck by the fact that for McCain and Graham to propose sending U.S. troops into Iraq and Syria indicates that they are completely ignorant of how that would feed right into the goals of ISIS. That is likely why people like them tend to admire Vladimir Putin - they’re all embracing a 19th/20th century view that sees only military conquest, while President Obama is developing strategies that address the challenges we face in the 21st century.
