Meta, I hate that PBO and FLOTUS have to go through this every time families are torn apart by senseless tragedies. No other president has had this kind of load and I doubt any future president would have the sensitivity to care. Can you even imagine one of those Republican idiots coming to comfort you. I would run shrieking, begging them to stay away from me.

Bob, I so totally agree with this. It would be outrageous if these brave Kurdish women didn’t have a prominent place in Syria’s future government. I hope this isn’t a “women do all the difficult work and men get the rewards” situation, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it were.

G’morning Chips & TOD! Congrats Sir Amk on #1! Happy Saturday everyone. :)

It’s not beyond me to think that this whole DNC/DWS/Sanders/Clinton data “scandal” yesterday was a cheap stunt to get people to watch a debate which no one otherwise would have cared to watch the last Saturday before Christmas.

Let’s be honest - the three current Dem candidates are uninspiring, even though the worst of them is better than the best of the GOP. Furthermore, there is no real primary. Clinton has been coronated from day 1 and she will likely win the nomination. I will perform my civic duty as a matter of responsibility and vote for the Dem party come election day, but honestly, this is not an election that gets my blood flowing the right way.

    • 100 0388jojothecat
      December 19, 2025 at 9:40 am

I agree hf2 so concentrate on local races, volunteer to phone bank for Dems in other states to increase our #s in house & senate. The SCOTUS balance of crazy is at stake. ACA and future safety of PBO and his legacy is at stake as well. I can see a GOP president, house and senate doing great damage.

      • 101 hopefruit2
        December 19, 2025 at 10:09 am

As I said jojo, I will not sit out the election. I WILL VOTE for Dem candidates - up and down-ballot as is my civic duty. I fully understand the negative consequences of not voting.

      December 19, 2025 at 10:13 am

I don’t know what happened but the overreaction by all involved was just beyond stupid. Why did HRC’s campaign people have to turn the drama up to ELEVENTY? And why did St. Bernie’s camp have to light their hair on fire over the charges when there was plenty of evidence? And then there’s DWS, who somehow thought this would be a good thing for the party to hash out in front of our insatiable toxic media? I mean, GEEZE, get your freakin’ act together!!!

      • 104 Nena20409
        December 19, 2025 at 12:54 pm

Had a thought on that too. Then I came to the conclusion that had the HRC Camp been the ones harvesting Sanders’ Data………the Sandarnisters, Sanders himself, US Corporate News Media, Many leftists and the Whole RWNJ would be on this and the end result, HRC would have been damaged beyond repair. HRC is Never given the benefit of doubt. She is convicted and sentenced before any investigative work is done. A pinch of accusation of any wrong doing, Hillary R. Clinton is Convicted and Sentenced. UnAmerican. However, in her case, 1001% a perceived reality.

You feel how I fell, hf, I’ll go out and vote as a civic duty, but none of these candidates give me the warm fuzzies.

    This is a phucking shame

    ……………………

The Corporate Takeover of the Red Cross

Red Cross CEO Gail McGovern, who was hired to revitalize the charity, has cut hundreds of chapters and thousands of employees.

    by Justin Elliott, ProPublica

    December 14, 2025

WHEN GAIL MCGOVERN WAS PICKED to head the American Red Cross in 2008, the organization was reeling. Her predecessor had been fired after impregnating a subordinate. The charity was running an annual deficit of hundreds of millions of dollars.

A former AT&T executive who had taught marketing at Harvard Business School, McGovern pledged to make the tough choices that would revitalize the Red Cross, which was chartered by Congress to provide aid after disasters. In a speech five years ago, she imagined a bright future, a ā€œrevolutionā€ in which there would be ā€œa Red Cross location in every single community.’’

It hasn’t worked out that way.

McGovern and her handpicked team of former AT&T colleagues have presided over a string of previously unreported management blunders that have eroded the charity’s ability to fulfill its core mission of aiding Americans in times of need.

Under McGovern, the Red Cross has slashed its payroll by more than a third, eliminating thousands of jobs and closing hundreds of local chapters. Many veteran volunteers, who do the vital work of responding to local fires and floods have also left, alienated by what many perceive as an increasingly rigid, centralized management structure.

Far from opening offices in every city and town, the Red Cross is stumbling in response to even smaller scale disasters.

On a personal note, today would have been my husband’s 85th birthday. So, as you’re going about your daily business, I just ask for a thought, or prayer or light as my son and his family and I go through this day. A year ago we had a big dinner party for him, and wish we could have one today. However, I have become very thankful that he did not linger for five years in a nursing home as his mother did. The heart disease took him, and took him without pain and loss of his dignity.

Also, our first year of marriage, way back in 1966, we lived in Redlands, and both of us worked in San Bernardino, so this incident has been very close to me. He worked for the County education office, traveling the entire county as school psychologist. He traveled to Big Bear, Trona, Needles, all over the largest county in the U.S. I taught at Del Vallejo Junior High. While doing all that, he also drove into L.A. to school to increase his education and knowledge in his field. He was a remarkable man.

Today our church feeds the homeless, and distributes a gift package to each person with a warm sweatshirt, scarf, hat and gloves for the winter. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Thanks to all of you for your support this year. You are a remarkable group.

Whenever the First Family deplane in Hawaii, I am always taken back to the first moment I set foot in those beautiful islands, being washed by the scent of the frangipani on the soft trade winds. It is a complete revisitation, not just a fleeting memory! Bless them, may they play, rest, rejuvenate and enjoy their time together. Mr President, please play as many rounds of golf as you can!! :bear:

Ask Mark if he know if the President enjoyed his nine rounds of golf, four family beach outings, five dinners out, and eight workouts? I hope he did. And I hope he enjoy the times Mark didn’t mention, like just sitting around the house, talking to family, friends, FLOTUS, Malia, Sasha. reading a book. I hope the President, First Lady, Malia, Sasha enjoy their vacation.
