Good Morning, I hope everyone is having a great Christmas Eve. It’s unseasonably WARM here in VIRGINIA, we’ve been having Spring like weather for awhile now. But yeah global warming doesn’t. Exist!
Here in MICHIGAN my little English daisies are blooming! My coral bells, lavender, and forget-me-nots are all green and look ready to start putting out flowers any minute. Happy Christmas!!!??! (In fact, my Gerbera Daisies were blooming right up to Nov. 20, when I cut them because the next day they were predicting freezing temps and snow. That was the only freezing day with significant snow we’ve had so far). So I am very happy to see snow falling in TODville.

Chips, on this Christmas eve day when anything is possible, I want to wish you and your family the very happiest of holidays. You’ve managed to create a place where people from around the world, who will likely never meet or know each other by name, can come together as friends and extended family and share hopes, fears, joys, sorrows and insights in an atmosphere of acceptance. None of us take this for granted. TOD may have started as a place of love for President Obama, but its become a kind of family kitchen where everyone is welcome and has a place at the table. This is not just the result of technical talent and hard work on your part, it comes you-the loving, playful, compassionate and quick witted personality we’ve all come to love. Every day you give us a gift, Chips,so please accept this as a day of gratitude and deep affection from all of us to you.

You know GGail and Df, I was thinking the other day about the fact that some people have blogged for years and given countless hours of their energy to a site, but their work is still devoid of spirit, humor and warmth. Chips has such a special ability to spread cheer, humor and heart into everything she does plus she takes on all the hard work of pushing the trolls away and making this a safe place. I don’t know how we can ever thank her, but I would sure like to try.
We have to stay JG, otherwise Chips would be so lonesome without us 😎

My sentiments exactly jackieg. My one saddest note is that so many people have such a narrow view of life and the world that they have and are missing the wonders of this President and his family. My hopes and prayers for all here is that your celebrations what ever they are are blessed and loving.

My normal practice most of the time. The problem though, Df, is that you can miss a real treat - I almost missed a call from France earlier in the year. My land line phone number hasn’t changed in decades and a friend from university who is now working in Paris, ran across my number in an old address book and decided to try it. Lucky for me it was one of those days when I got the urge to answer. I actually answered because the number looked somewhat *weird* to me and I felt curious. ;) Just saying.
Because my phone plan has limited minutes, I often Skype people. They say it comes up as ‘unknown number” or sometimes from California, or even farther away. I have to wait to leave a message and then they’ll pick up!
I love the snow!! It makes me cheerful and I look forward to it. It’s been raining and gray for days now and the forecast is for endless days of the same. Having actual snow and ice on the ground is a real pain, but lovely, little snowdrops on my screen are make it feel like Christmas.
DITTOOOOOOOOOO!!!…hahahaha…
I LOVE the snow, Chips. It doesn’t come with freezing cold, icy winds, and I don’t have to shovel it! Let It Snoooow!!!!!

They do it every election cycle. Romney could barely hide his disdain in 2012 but they voted for him in droves. It’s obvious Trump feels the same way yet here again the GOP electorate has convinced themselves he’s one of them.
Meta, I’m not convinced anything is actually working because all we’ve seen is biased polls taken among Republicans. I know that the media is working hard to push a Trump narrative, but not one single vote has been cast for the 2016 election and there are still untold numbers of voters who are never polled and whose opinions remain a mystery. What I do know is that the one person who talked to Americans as if they were grownups with real brains is the man who was elected twice to the Presidency with overwhelming numbers.
Yes, I think this is all very mind-boggling. We know for certain what the MSM wants. I’m just wondering who the RWNJs think is a viable alternative. Scary, no matter what.
What is truly confounding is that the GOP are so utterly freaked out by the grand success and strategic, level-headed calm of PBO, they are standing on their heads to go entirely in the opposite direction to exalt a know-nothing vulgar racist braggart. As if that will solve all their problems of broadening their base. Pure idiocy.
Meta, the image of the GOP ‘standing on their heads’ is going to stick in mine for the rest of the day. It’s just perfect.

This is how I believe Trump is going to handle HRC: by bringing up Bill’s messy past. One can only guess how it will escalate from there, with supporters from both sides and the MSM lighting their hair on fire. If they have any left.
Donald Trump has no real idea of what could happen when women-who outnumber men and vote in great numbers-become fed up with his sexism. Plus Bill Clinton in his randiest days could not match up to the disgusting womanizer that Trump is and was. I hope he goes there and I hope that it all comes back at him in a tidal wave of female wrath.

That’s interesting. You knew it would happen; she must have been prepared for it. Maybe it’s a good thing that Trump is the one to do it because he will do it in the most disgusting way possible and of course there is PLENTY of stuff to throw back at him, as you point out. Maybe that will make it ineffective for the eventual nominee to use it.
I hope they have a game plan to handle this…i would not address it….just as the PBO never directly addressed all the attacks that were made on his wife before and after he was elected…i hope the Clintons have the grace and demeanor to handle things with grace and humiltiy

The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits fell more than expected last week, nearing a 42-year low as labor market conditions continued to tighten in a boost to the economy.
Initial claims for state unemployment benefits dropped 5,000to a seasonally adjusted 267,000 for the week ended Dec.19, not far from levels last seen in late 1973, the Labor Department said on Thursday.
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast claims dipping to 270,000 in the latest week. Claims have been below 300,000, a threshold associated with a buoyant labor market, for 42 consecutive weeks. That is the longest stretch since the early 1970s.

The temperature in NE Fla. will climb into the 80’s and will remain there for the test of this week into the next. Here, we wear shorts instead of sweaters on Christmas day.
All of the shopping has been done, the inside decorations need only a small tweek, and the wrapping will be short and sweet because I mostly bought gift cards, Tonight is the Christmas Eve service and sleep over with my mother. Even though most of my immediate family are in that category of a certain age, we have always gathered together and enjoyed our family’s Christmas traditions which is the greatest gift of all.
Safe Travels to any TODers and their family members who may be on the roads, rails, and skies and may all of your holiday dreams come true.

It is Michael Bloomberg’s $$$ and organization behind this and I couldn’t be happier about it.
Bloomberg has been involved with gun control efforts for years but had no success. Some of you may remember that he went directly at the NRA funding candidates who opposed the NRA. Mr. Bloomberg wanted to remain a political force but that was not in the cards.
A few of his candidates gained office but were soon recalled. His overall effort wasn’t effective.
Now, Bloomberg is back and I think the current approach is likely to be successful. Sports stars front and center in public service announcements. If the budget allows, musicians, actors, writers, and others may be able to join in. The Congress has been paid to not pass any useful legislation. Going around Congress, directly to the people makes sense to me.
As I mentioned earlier, Bloomberg met with POTUS in the WH last week so I’m guessing PBO is on board.

spending Christmas with my Mom and sister…in Harrisburg….this year my youngest brother and my niece will tag-along smilin…
each year …i buy corny Christmas PJs for my mom and sister and myself…the same pattern…lolol…and then we post our pic on FB.. on Christmas EVE .we sing Christmas Carols and watch Christmas movies… lol…and drink plenty of Hot Chocolate and cookies…Christmas day we just open presents and enjoy the feast….this year on Saturday we will go see the movie Star Wars…Sunday is a special breakfast before returning home….it promises to be a special time….
