Thank you for sharing your story of your Dad and thank you to everyone else who shared stories of loved ones that they are thinking of at this time of year.
My Dad passed away Thanksgiving of 1993 and I think of him always, but especially during this season. To everyone who has lost someone more recently, I would like you to know that you never stop thinking of them, but over time the pain subsides and becomes a warmth that stays with you and comforts you.
I remember that the first Christmas after my Dad died it was so hard to think about dialing his telephone number and that no one would be there to answer the call. Those years were tough.
Now I talk to him even more than when he was alive, but I talk to him through my heart and I feel we are even closer than when he was alive on Earth. He is not lost to me anymore, it just feels like he’s out of town and we are spiritually skype-ing
Dad was a tenor and sang with his Church choir. He was raised Catholic but switched to the Presbyterian church because their choir was better :-) Dad would walk around the house singing “O Holy Night” every Christmas. Whenever I hear it, I think of him and smile.

I was reading a comment somewhere were someone said that the military doesn’t like President Obama, I commented back and said if they don’t like him it has more to do with what kind of people they are, then him. Because he has not given them any reasons not to respect or like him.
