You just know that #GQ, #Esquire mag editors wish they could persuade PBO to drape some of next year’s fashions on his amazing frame. And the year after that, etc.
The media is not permitted to report good news if it reflects well on President Obama. Only scare, scare, scare and attack, attack, attack are permitted, along with the deification of the Trump.
GM Jackie.Christmas was really nice with my family and the only thing that would have made it better would have been if the princesses had been here. They are in Kansas with the in-laws. :(
Morning all. A few minutes ago we said goodbye to our three-year-old granddaugher and her mom and dad with much hugging, kisses, tears, “see you later alligators,” and blown kisses. We had two days of non-stop action with treats, laughter, games and field trips. And now the quiet is eerie as two senior citizens slip back into their slow, predictable routine until the next visit from our tiny whirlwind. It’s so good to be reminded that every little thing can be special if seen with wonder and without guile and cynicism. Little children do make you feel that anything is possible. Our little one’s favorite new expression is “Yes, We Can!” and when she says it, I feel hope for our future..
First Book mixes market forces and philanthropy to help poor children
By Lyndsey Layton December 27 at 6:36 PM
In a small, two-bedroom apartment in Corona, Calif., Trinity Santos, 5, reads her hardcover copy of “Green Eggs and Ham” again and again. She never tires of the Dr. Seuss classic, sometimes reading it to her 3-year-old brother, Joshua, said their mother, Diane.
Life is a struggle for the Santos family. Diane worked as a waitress before her children were born, and the family of four lives on the $35,000 that her husband earns as a phlebotomist. They don’t have much.
But the children own the four dozen books in a small, homemade bookcase, courtesy of First Book, a nonprofit organization that combines market forces and philanthropy to get new books into the hands of poor children to encourage early reading.

Todays’ edition of “Good News in the News” is a renewed push by some Governors to get the Medicaid expansion in their states. The GOP state Senates and Assemblies are standing in their way.
30 States Have the Expansion.
20 States to go.
I will be watching this number carefully and applauding any State that does the right thing for its people.
Another metric I am monitoring closely is 107. That is the current number of Guantanamo detainees.
Supposedly 17 will be departing on or around January 11. 107-17=90.
As far as I know, under 100 is an informal target the Administration has set for informing us about what President Obama wants to do next.
You want to know who else hired Ari Fleischer when they got caught with their pants down, Tiger Woods, that’s who. Nice try, Peyton, but when your first move is to hire a spin-doctor it tells us everything we need to know about you.
That’s the thing with a lot of these parody people, it’s IMPOSSIBLE to out-stupid the stupid. How many times have we said in the last while, ‘I thought that was a headline from The Onion’?
It’s like that fictional Tea Party fella on Twitter, @RepStevenSmith, I absolutely don’t see the point of him because his tweets are NO different to real Tea Partiers!
This is amazing medical information. I am SO routing for the dementia/ alzheimer treatments to work, not to mention breakthroughs on cancer and antibiotics. Fascinating.
Yep, AMK, we could have told them a long time ago that the US media is useless and wouldn’t dream of lifting one finger to check a statement, unless it was made by a Democrat. Republicans cay say or do anything-they are the media’s sacred cows.
More Good News today is that the dismantling of Iran’s nuclear capabilities continues and much of the enriched uranium has been moved out of Iran.
Not that it will stop the GOP from acting as if they can stop the Deal from full implementation. The Iran Deal and the removal of sanctions WILL happen.
Those rotten folks on RW media and the fools who listen to them are still ranting about repealing Obamacare. The Deal is their latest losing cause.
The country will inch closer to what LPL Financial calls the “elusive” full-employment range, a term that signifies when an economy is in balance, without any cyclical unemployment as well as a level of jobs that won’t cause inflation. Interestingly, “full employment” doesn’t mean an unemployment rate of 0 percent or that everyone who wants a job will have one.
But if the labor market reaches full-employment range, employers will need to increase wages to keep their workers, LPL Financial said in a research note. The organization of independent financial advisors pointed out that wage pressure is already emerging and should pick up speed in 2016.
While the national unemployment rate stood at 5 percent in November, some regions are already experiencing much lower unemployment rates, such as Lincoln, Nebraska, where the jobless rate stands at 2.3 percent. The Midwestern city may offer a taste of what the rest of the country could experience in 2016: With tight labor market there, wages jumped almost 11 percent this past summer, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Others agree that higher wages are on tap for 2016. Real wages for U.S. workers should increase by 2.7 percent next year, outpacing the forecast for a 2.5 percent boost in real global wages, according to employment firm Korn Ferry.
1st!
Don!
Chips!
Congrats Don! Good Morning/afternoon/evening to Ms. Chips and all TODers!

GM TODville.
Countdown to 2016 this week.
Despite the horror of #Paris and #SanBernardino this year, 2015 has been an amazing year.
Is it too early for this???
And here’s my reaction to this amazing pic:
Hangs head in shame. Just kidding. ;)
Never too early for that. Just sayin’….
Shoulder blades or angel wings? You decide.
Good question. ;)
You just know that #GQ, #Esquire mag editors wish they could persuade PBO to drape some of next year’s fashions on his amazing frame. And the year after that, etc.
I wouldn’t mind that at all! :) Would buy every one!
took the words right out of my mouth, desertflower
and here is my response to the comments about our President….
It is nice to admire the President…but i hate when we reduce him to a piece of meat…it is so Disrespectful….
You’re right, PF58, it is disrespectful, but also (IMHO) a truthful observation.
Could be wrong (usually am), but think that PBO would know we’re having fun BECAUSE of the awe and respect we have for him, and wouldn’t be offended.
He’s like Yoda but with buns of steel, LOL.
I’ll stop now, and will do my best to refrain from being disrespectful of the best President of the modern era.
prettyfoot58, I agree 100%. I understand what you are saying.
OMG. It is too early in the morning to drool over our President — oh wait, no it isn’t UM UM!
Morning! Still on vacation and it feels WONDERFUL:) Congrats, Don!
GM DF.
Here’s your morning dose of adorableness.
These guys are eager to get to work!
OH!!! How adorable :)
Good Morning, Everyone :)
Morning!
GM TOD - Glad those folks are taking good care of PBO - and ro repeat RanMan
Thank God that President Obama is still the President of The United States of America.
Some sad news. Meadowlark Lemon died. He’s the only Globetrotter I knew by name…
Sad. Like you, only one I knew by name. RIP and comfort wished for his family and friends.
I remember watching the Globetrotters many years ago on ABC’s Wide World of Sports, when tv was tv and there were only like five or six channels.
G’morning Chips, TOD, lurkers, etc and congrats Sir Don on #1! Happy Monday everyone :)
Mooooooooooooorning Hopefruit!!
Very interesting. Thank you, PBO and US Special Forces….

Maybe I read that wrong…or maybe it’s just Newstainers hard at work!
http://www.politicususa.com/2015/12/28/barack-obama-hillary-clinton-admired-man-woman.html
Well, Df, PBO and Hillary sound about right, so just like our vaunted media, I’m going with the results I like best. Have a great day!!!
:) :) Me, too
Most admired man…President Obama. Most admired woman….First Lady Michelle Obama
No big fan of Hillary Clinton, but will vote for her if she is the nominee.
Trump tied with the Pope for second, are you freaking kidding me? Just who the hell are these people?.
But, but the media told me that the country was too frightened of terror to shop!!!
The media is not permitted to report good news if it reflects well on President Obama. Only scare, scare, scare and attack, attack, attack are permitted, along with the deification of the Trump.
Good Morning TOD

I’m just sayin’.

Should have read “retains former BUSH White House aide”.
Peyton’s really a GOPer, isn’t he? Hanging out with Papa John “Obamacare hater” Schlatter and now Ari Fleischer? The company you keep…
Oh yes, Peyton is a dyed in the wool Conservative, how else to explain him hanging out with a rat-fucker like the owner of Papa John’s.
Ken’s at it again :-)
LOL. perfect troll.
I needed a laugh before today’s footballing ordeal.

WHOA. WOW. WHAT. The stupid, it burns.
Ah no Meta, he parodies dumb comments under news stories, I suspect from past tweets he’s a big PBO fan!
OMG, he coulda fooled me! Thx, Chips.
That’s the thing with a lot of these parody people, it’s IMPOSSIBLE to out-stupid the stupid. How many times have we said in the last while, ‘I thought that was a headline from The Onion’?
I do fall for some of those hideous tweets from time to time! Republicans are such special snowflakes.

A transformative year in medicine.
