Nerdy, love the tweets. The first one occurred to me awhile ago, how the ACA was an economic stimulus in so many ways: putting more spendable $$ in people’s pockets, stimulating hiring and business in the medical and other industries, etc.
But my fave of all these tweets is the series by D-Money McSmoothie (how great is that name? :-) ) !! The Hammonds, Bundys, and their like are absolutely looters, and on a way bigger scale than some random guy grabbing a TV.

may be I move in the wrong circles but I think that the NRA and the extremists on gun rights have maxed out their accommodation among most people with common sense.
the nra may have overstepped basic acceptance by:
- opposing everything that most people see as basic common sense policies/actions (background checks, smart technology etc),
- buying up a huge number of the legislature,
- pushing laws that make no sense (open carry, stand your ground, concealed carry, unfettered access of guns everywhere)
- denial of research on gun violence
- removal of liability to be sued.
- etc
sometimes, when you are the peak of your arrogance, you forget what many have always been taught : “pride comes before a fall”;
by the time you realize that you could have made a few compromises on some issues, you may find that there is no longer a partner at the opposite end of the table/issue with whom you can negotiate;
there will come a time the nra and gun manufacturers wish that their leadership had taken PBO’s invitation to meet and work out jointly on reducing gun violence
Global, I think you’re absolutely right. Because the NRA and its bought and paid for legislators were so uncompromising and so far out in their demands, they inadvertently went to far with ordinary Americans. I’m feeling a sea change in the air as prominent Dems come out in support of sensible gun legislation without the mealy-mouthed words that used to indicate their fear of offending the NRA. Hoping the day will come when getting an A from the NRA will be a mark of shame for a legislator, not an honor. PBO, in his greatness, changed the course of the conversation about guns. He gave us the courage to speak up.
