Morning. That monster Assad is not allowing food to reach the people of Madaya and they are dying of starvation. We’re witnessing Hitler concentration camp levels of inhumanity and the international community seems helpless to stop it. It’s truly enraging!

This just came to me after reading your comment. Our insurrectionists are coming and going, getting gas, snacks, showering in motels. No gassing, no starving, no nothing. Yes they will be charged through a lawful process, given their rights, etc. Yes its important that we treat minorities, women, immigrants in their protests the same way. Nothing could show that this kind of response is possible but this President, at this time, at the federal level.

Like everyone I feel our “insurrectionists” are completely crazy but they are still our community members. In some ways this is a model for the those in power everywhere. Don’t crush people. Even those you don’t like or don’t agree with. I think Lincoln would have behaved this way too.

Meta, David Bowie was my contemporary by just a few years and he was always pushing the perimeters of the social and artistic ‘norms’ of my time. It will be a long time before we see someone of his boundary pushing genius again.

Although I never saw him person, there’s no doubt he was a great performer, an innovator like no other. He just had that spark of intellect and creativity that inspired a generation.

The white Evangelicals that Cruz is banking on in this election are a dying breed. Their school membership is declining and young people are being turned off by their bigotry toward other people and beliefs.

Many economists say Donald Trump’s proposals — from big import tariffs to mass deportations —would hurt the very demographic that supports him in the greatest numbers: less educated voters struggling in a tepid U.S. economy.

If Trump policies actually went into effect, these economists say, prices for goods lower-income Americans depend on could soar and a depleted low-end labor force could trigger a major downturn.

Trump’s appeal rests in part on the sense that he will be a tougher negotiator with trading partners. But comparatively less attention has been given in debates and on the campaign trail to the actual substance of his economic proposals, opening a new line of attack for mainstream critics against his unconventional economic thinking.

    Good Monday Morning TODVille!

Two comments: What a sad news in the passing of David Bowie!

I love KARMA though sometimes she is slow. I am enjoying this birther rage from Il Douche to Mr. Government Shut-Down. Whether or not he is TRULY a natural born US citizen is irrelevant. What’s enjoyable is that the media and his camp obviously must talk about whether or not Sen. Wacko-Bird (to quote the Great Hero John McLoss) is an American. If I could drink, I would have a glass of whisky this morning.

Aid lorries are heading to the besieged Syrian town of Madaya with enough food to last 40,000 people for a month, as well as medicine and blankets.

Residents have been trapped there for six months by a government blockade and have received no aid since October.

Twenty-eight are reported to have died of starvation since 1 December.

Aid will also be delivered to two villages besieged by rebel forces in the northern province of Idlib under a deal between the warring parties.

The situation in Foah and Kefraya is also said to be extremely dire, with an estimated 20,000 people trapped there since March.

Wouldn’t that be a masterpiece if POTUS were able to close Guantanamo as the last critical act of his administration?

A group of Chinese investors have bought one of Germany’s largest machinery suppliers, KraussMaffei, for €925m ($1bn; £694m).

The investors include state-owned firm China National Chemical Corp (ChemChina) and investment firms AGIC Capital and Guoxin International.

KraussMaffei, which makes machinery for processing plastic and rubber, was owned by Canadian firm Onex Group.

The deal is the biggest acquisition by Chinese investors in a German company.

Chinese investors have recently been buying European firms, along with their technology and distribution networks.

Last year, ChemChina bought Italian tyre maker Pirelli in a deal valued at €7.1bn (£5.1bn).

I’ll never forget when China bought a machine shop in WA state about 20 years ago and they dismantled every piece of machinery and rebuilt it back in China………I think that if China’s communist government gets out of the way of business and privatizes it’s stock market to stop manipulating it, they will be greater than ours because they’ll own everything we built because everything is sold to the highest bidder here.
