Republicans best be making plans to burn down the Obama Foundation building because me thinks this president will be community organizing till his last breath! I’m in!
ME TOO……………………………………….YOU CAN’T KEEP HIS COMPASSION IN THE HOUSE….HE HAS TO SERVE…HE LOVES PEOPLE LIKE I DO…CANNOT EVER LOVE ENOUGH ESPECIALLY IN THIS VIOLENT WORLD. WE NEED TO SPREAD ALL THE LOVE AND COMPASSION WE CAN.

I cannot say enough times how much I love and admire PBO, so I am saying it yet again in response to this video (thanks so much for posting it): I love and admire President Barack Hussein Obama for many reasons, but mostly because he loves us. This love that he has for us guides his work and we are all the better for it.
Whenever I see the President interviewed by young people on the You Tube videos I am forcefully reminded how worthless the mainstream media has become. Their questions are thoughtful; they are respectful and give him a chance to answer the question; and they are free of the GOP talking points and can’t. When media personalities interview him it is all about them and their gotcha points while the You Tube interviewers genuinely want to know. Love the way this White House goes around the Washington know-it-alls and GOP mouthpieces.
I am always spellbound when listening to the President Obama. He is so knowledgeable about so many things and this type forum helps to bring out that knowledge. From science and technology to the various genres of the arts… When he was discussing cancer research with Ingrid, I was thinking WOW. He is able to absorb and retain so much information!
I’m glad he is not dependent on the mainstream media to get is message out, and honestly, I don’t think the MSM reaches a lot of the audiences PBO is trying to reach. It’s just refreshing to see interviews where the interviewers are respectful to the President and ask sincere and thoughtful questions.
Thanks again for posting. I look forward to future events.
yup, that’s what I am thinking. At some point, the mind starts to kick in and ask wtf is going on here? None of these nuts are making any sense. I must say I am quite surprised by the steep drop in the audience. well done, troglodytes. keep it up and get annihilated in nov.
Couldn’t help but compare this with Jeb!?’s recent displaying of his pocket contents, which consisted of rosary beads, a tiny baby Jesus and miniature turtles (huh?). When PBO pulled out his rosary beads and commented that they were a gift from Pope Frances, I thought to myself “That Jeb!? just can’t win at anything” :-)
If the President (or any democrat) behaved like these pretenders, the media would be screaming from the rooftop - sure is one rule for them and one rule for us in the US media.
Hi df - temps dropped today - enjoying the cool. Tis Saturday - sometimes being retired is a disadvantage - don’t look forward to weekends - every day is a weekend :)
:) I know…well, actually I don’t know, I can only imagine….I’m not retired and work 7days/wk….would love a day off….enjoy, no matter what:) Beautiful weather here for us…I cherish this time of year. The searing hot will be here soon enough
Would love to know why they hold GOPers to such low standards. Even with the Cruz birth issue - everyone is saying dems should not go there - why not - the guy was born in Canada - his father not military or government worker. He should be made to squirm. As for Trump & the immigration - why do we hear noting about the US status of his many wives.
I firmly believe both Bill Clinton and PBO were elected in spite of the media - with the horror of the previous Bush administrations playing a small part.
So what is the problem with Stock Market? Some right wing idiot trying to blame Obama for it, strange they didn’t give him credit when the market were going strong, did they? That’s how those racists haters are.
I was thinking how it is ashame that the other GOP candidates do not know how to take on Donald Trump. They are afraid to to stand up to Trump and take him on. They are scared of Trump.
FRANKLY…THAT’S A POOR EXCUSE…IF THEY ARE AFRAID OF TRUMP…THEY CERTAINLY CAN’T BE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!..PBO HAS WALKED AMONG HIS ENEMIES SO MANY TIMES…HE HAS TO BE ROLLING ON THE SOFA LAUGHING IT UP WITH THE HYSTERICS GOING ON IN THE 2016 CLOWN SHOW. IT’S BEYOND AN EMBARRASSMENT TO THIS COUNTRY..KIND OF LIKE WATCHING A HOT PILE OF DOG DUNG MELT ON A HOT SUMMER DAY!…WITH THAT…I WISH YOU ALL A BLESSED EVENING..:)
Yes, amk. This has been driving me crazy today.
Trump is outraged by the insult of “New York values” from Cruz.
Why isn’t there universal outrage about Trump calling the leaders of our country weak stupid and incompetent? As he does day after day.
What worries me is with media help and voters history of completely swinging to the opposite side much like schizophrenia that a GOP candidate could win the WH. Horrors, especially if it would be Trump or Cruz. Actually, any of the Repubs would take down all of PBO’s accomplishments. I am not even sure if Sanders would protect the current gains.
Please read this article. You have NO IDEA how serious this problem is. Rick Snyder personifies the banality of evil. It is INCOMPREHENSIBLE that citizens would be damaged like this by their own government. Also my post before this one shows pictures of what the water looked like when the residents were told not to worry.
From the article: “So the Virginia Tech researchers took 30 different readings at various flow levels. What they found shocked them: The lowest reading they obtained was around 200 ppb, already ridiculously high. But more than half of the readings came in at more than 1,000 ppb. Some came in above 5,000 — the level at which EPA considers the water to be “toxic waste””
When is he going to jail for willful endangerment of the citizens of Flint and when is he losing his “job” because of malfeasance in office and the like? At the very least, some lawyer should advise him to resign before prosecution. Civil law suits aren’t going to bring back any child’s good future health, but I’m sure those will happen and should. I don’t understand how he can get away with any of this, even for these last months. Even for a day.
Well, the water disaster is being investigated by Attorney General Bill Schuette, a Republican and corrupt as they come. That could be one way. Welcome to life with a Republican Governor, House, Senate, and Supreme Court. Republican Heaven. It makes me sick.
Hardly anyone was paying attention. I’ve blown hot and cold with Rachel Maddow over the past few years, but I will be eternally grateful to her for going at this story like a dog with a bone and finally bringing it the national attention it needed.
In his State of the Union address this week, President Obama reinforced unemployment insurance and job-training programs as ways the government can help those in need of work. Then he listed “wage insurance” as a distinct and separate recommended method:
Say a hardworking American loses his job — we shouldn’t just make sure he can get unemployment insurance; we should make sure that program encourages him to retrain for a business that’s ready to hire him. If that new job doesn’t pay as much, there should be a system of wage insurance in place so that he can still pay his bills.
Though for many Americans this may have been news, wage insurance is an idea that isn’t particularly new. The University of Chicago economist Robert LaLonde wrote the The Case for Wage Insurance in 2007, arguing that the basic unemployment-insurance system only gave income to workers without jobs and thus failed to help the many (often older) workers who could only find jobs that provided much less pay—a pattern common among those who lost their jobs to trade with low-wage nations. The concept was premised on a notion of fairness: The set of winners from trade (consumers benefiting from rock-bottom prices and employers benefiting from cheap labor) ought to compensate the losers.
Update January 15, 2016: A state court has struck down Kansas’ two-tiered voter registration system, ruling that Secretary of State Kris Kobach’s office overstepped its legal authority by creating a system that prevents federal form registrants from voting in state and local elections.
Great stuff as always on TOD. Just catching up after a few days. This president has been so accessible and open, giving everyone the same courtesy no matter whether professional journalists or young people just looking for reassurance. It is a remarkable quality.

On Wednesday, Elle published an essay by Linda Chavers lamenting the use of the popular phrase “Black Girl Magic.” Chavers’ essay was prompted by Essence magazine’s use of the catchphrase for female black excellence on its February-issue covers.
“There’s something else that rubs me the wrong way about the phrase ‘black girl magic,’” writes Chavers. “The ‘strong, black woman’ archetype, which also includes the mourning black woman who suffers in silence, is the idea that we can survive it all, that we can withstand it. That we are, in fact, superhuman. Black girl magic sounds to me like just another way of saying the same thing, and it is smothering and stunting. It is, above all, constricting rather than freeing.”
Chavers surmises, “Black girl magic suggests we are, again, something other than human.”
……………………………………………………………
But black girls and women, the most frequent users of the term, have almost universally agreed on the same meaning. And it’s nothing at all like what Chavers suggests.

A Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy
Thank you (although I thought I took myself off your mailing list a long time ago) for the lovely 2016 commemorative membership card with President Obama’s image on it. I’m sorry I won’t be contributing this year, either, to any of your shenanigans, and I highly resent your using his image without giving him much support or even what we used to call “the time of day.”
Your chairperson is a disgrace. No, I won’t be filling out your survey. You would have gotten the entire package back, unopened and marked “Return to Sender” (as I’ve done before), but you cleverly showed the President’s image, so I opened it.
When the Democrats have a nominee, I will vote for that person. I may even contribute something prior to the election. But now? I think not. Fool me once, and all that.

A Faithful Democratic Voter Who’s Taken You Off Her Birthday and Christmas Lists
Hey everyone. I´m sure someone can help me out with a little request.
I am looking for pictures of the speech PBO gave for the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington in 2013. Since my seniors are starting to revise their material and the American Dream is one of the topics relevant for their graduation exams and since one of my students suggested doing something MLK related because of MLK day I thought it would be nice to illustrate the speech (which I used in an exam last year, so I am all set there) with one of Pete Souza´s nice photographs that had PBO talking about MLK in front of the Lincoln memorial because I´d like my students to examine the symbolism behind that. Can anyone help me out there and point me to a picture or two? :)
And it will bring up the posts for that day - so checking then and 29th should have many pictures and links. I also googled

Good Night, TOD
Great stuff as always on TOD. Just catching up after a few days. This president has been so accessible and open, giving everyone the same courtesy no matter whether professional journalists or young people just looking for reassurance. It is a remarkable quality.
Exactly. And the professional pricks just use them to parrot gop talking points.
Media has too much of a sense of self importance. Squawk is an appropriate metaphor.
And, if the other girl had died, the school would have 10938392 reasons as to why they weren’t to blame.
This stuff is like seeing signs of hell on earth, and I’m not exaggerating.
This makes no sense at all. She was trying to help the other girl, she wasn’t spreading crack.
I enjoyed the interview. The interviewer looks like she’s about 8. Maybe 12.

You can put a date into TOD link on your browser - like this

And it will bring up the posts for that day - so checking then and 29th should have many pictures and links. I also googled
