If I hear one more candidate either Republican or Democrat that says they know how to work across the aisle to get things done I swear I’m gonna throw up.
NO ONE can work across the aisle with these Republicans. PBO himself has admitted that he was disappointed in the amount of obstruction that he faced. You have a country teetering on the brink of economic disaster and the opposition party stands in the corner with their fingers in their ears shaking their heads no to everything! All they cared about was trying to make this man fail. No amount of cocktail drinking is going to change that. These are not your grandfather’s republicans. Those days of how politics were played in DC are long over with. Back then you moved your family to DC and you became friends with everyone in Congress or the Senate. The wives and children became friends with one another. This no longer exists. No one moves to DC and Congress works a couple of days a week and then everybody flies home.
The conservative entertainment complex in conjunction with the MSM has ruined this country and the Republican Party. Our country is a better place when you have two reasonable parties that can work together for the betterment of our society. This mess we have now is a farce. There was no damn tea party before President Obama. Everything that party has done has to do with the fact that we elected a black man (twice) to be President of the United States and that they don’t ever think that anyone other than a Republican is a legitimate person to hold that office. They won’t treat HRC much better (should she win) but at least she won’t have to deal with the color issue but I’m sure the sexist crap will be all the rage.
People also don’t understand DEMS compromise to make our government function where GOP could carelesd whether the government functions and is ok to do nothing rather than compromise. Just have everything shut down.
Donna what is so interesting about how everyone claims that they can work across the aisle implies that it was PBOs fault for the gridlock…that somehow he did not do something right….because to say that this is the President’s fault gives a pass to racism…gives a pas to acknowledging that the powers that b were scare shi*less when the President won..that they were scared of the Obama Coalition…re: the Presidential candidates…Hillary…says she knows how to work across the aisle…mouthing the same rhetoric…giving racism a pass…
on the other hand Sanders and the Political Left says that the President was naive to even try and that he was weak because he did try…
but neither candidate gives credit where credit is due…
Hillary claims all the victories for herself…and Sanders and his disgruntled groupies try to diminish whatever his success…because he compromised and therefore did not get the whole thing…
ohhh and did i mention the so-called Blk elite…who expected the President to end racism and were insulted by how he spoke to the blk community…

President Barack Obama…i feel so very blessed to have had you as my President….
“they don’t ever think that anyone other than a Republican is a legitimate person to hold that office”
Afternoon TOD. This is what I find astounding. Rethugs really do think they are the only legitimate “heirs” to the presidency. It’s mindboggling. I notice it at work. As for Dems, mostly, as long as an R is president, and he doesn’t do stupid wars, they generally resign themselves to the loss. R’s instead double down on the indignation.
You are so right donna dem 4 Obama. The GOP does this to all Dem President’s because they don’t recognize them as legitimate and it will be the same with anyone trying to run as a Dem. And Dem’s didn’t have POTUS’s back either. The Black Caucus was conspicuously absent this last five years and a long time before.
“Our country is a better place when you have two reasonable parties that can work together for the betterment of our society.”
True and with Republicans abdicating their role as a responsible opposition party, we are stuck with one reasonable party. Not sure if the Republican Party can save itself given its current Presidential candidates.
I am with you 100%, Donna. How the hell do you work with people who, on the night before you were sworn in as President, took the pledge to oppose everything you tried to do. I am personally looking forward to VP Joe Biden’s memoirs because so many of his former colleagues in Congress told him of this GOP pledge to obstruct everything that President Obama tried to do.
I wish Chris Mathews would listen and understand the part about the legislators working a couple days then flying home for the weekend. He keeps accusing PBO of not trying to get to know the other side. I remember invitations to watch football games, see movie premieres with the actors present and other WH invitations the GOP turned their nose up to not attending. It takes two to tango and the GOP decided on night one not to dance even though our Country was in dire straights. I have witnessed people telling CM those same things and him going back to those same old theories. He makes all of his opinions on his old days experience not taking into account the current situation.
People need to know its not some “unknown no name” Gov Snyder the named government person did this on purpose to save money. The people he poisoned didn’t vote for him anyway so who cares if they die or get sick.
Shows how delusional Republicans are that Snyder thinks he can blame the “government” for Flint’s water problems and not realize that he heads up the government in his state. ***shakes head from side to side slowly****
GOOD MORNING TOD FAMILY…..WOKE UP AGAIN TO ANOTHER PRANK PHONE CALL…CAN’T WAIT TILL WE MOVE…THERE WILL BE NO PHONE…:) THIS IS CATCH UP IN THE HOUSE DAY FOR ME BECAUSE THE REST OF THE WEEK IS GOING TO BE A RUN. This story just gets worse and worse. There really needs to be a Congressional investigation which leads to criminal charges and Snyder’s resignation. You don’t play around with people’s water.
Think you’re showing your west coast view (which I understand completely).
Never seen a radiator in CA, only see them in House and Garden type articles about apartments in the northeast.
Also true is when I was growing up, loved fairy tales, but had no idea what “woods” (as in lost in the forest, walking through the woods) meant, since only chaparral in my neck of the woods, and chaparral isn’t something you’d walk through because they’re so thorny.

On Saturday, both countries agreed to increase trade to $600 billion in the coming decade.
That agreement was made during a meeting between Iran’s leaders and China’s president, Xi Jinping, who late last week became the first foreign leader to visit Iran after most international sanctions were lifted. China has relied on Iranian oil and views the country as a vital link in Mr. Xi’s so-called Silk Road strategy, an ambitious agenda that seeks to extend China’s economic influence westward.
Of course, and what do we get? We get a political party hell bent on regulating a woman’s body but can’t even provide safe drinking water for its citizens.
Chips, thank you so much for posting the Thrush interview. Our President is the most amazing man I have ever known in my lifetime. I cry every time I think about him leaving the Oval office.
I’LL BE GOING TO ST. CROIX…YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! GLAD VP JOE AND DR. JILL HAD SOME SUNSHINE…IT’S NOT LOOKING GOOD FOR FLORIDA LATER THIS WEEK ANYWAY!
A cadre of conservative Republicans is lining up against the bipartisan measure, imperiling its future.
01/25/16 05:20 AM EST
Sen. Tom Cotton, the hawkish upstart who’s already made waves railing against the Iran nuclear deal and government surveillance programs, is now leading a new rebellion against a bipartisan effort to overhaul the criminal justice system — hoping to torpedo one of the few pieces of major legislation that could pass Congress in President Barack Obama’s final year.
GOP tensions over a bill that would effectively loosen some mandatory minimum sentences spilled over during a party lunch last week, when Cotton (R-Ark.), the outspoken Senate freshman, lobbied his colleagues heavily against the legislation, according to people familiar with the closed-door conversation. The measure passed the Senate Judiciary Committee last fall with bipartisan support.
“It would be very dangerous and unwise to proceed with the Senate Judiciary bill, which would lead to the release of thousands of violent felons,” Cotton said later in an interview with POLITICO. “I think it’s no surprise that Republicans are divided on this question … [but] I don’t think any Republicans want legislation that is going to let out violent felons, which this bill would do.”

HER NAME WAS JANESE TALTON-JACKSON. AND SHE WAS KILLED BECAUSE SHE SAID “NO”
Damon Young, 1/25/16
I did not know Janese Talton-Jackson on a personal level. There’s a chance I might have seen her before. And a lesser chance I might have spoken to her. But if I did either, I don’t remember.
But after news of her death began to circulate Facebook Friday afternoon, and more and more people spoke of her, I learned there weren’t many degrees of separation between us. Practically none, actually.
She left behind three children. Twin girls and a one-year-old son. The father of her daughters is the son of my mom’s best friend, Ms. Debbie. She also lived in a house owned by Ms. Debbie; a house right next door to my dad’s house. They’re separated by two driveways and a line of hedges. My dad was devastated by the news. And, if that’s not enough of a connection already, Janese’s brother happened to be Pennsylvania State Representative Ed Gainey, a man I’ve known for 25 years. I first became acquainted with Ed through basketball. When my dad would take the nine-year-old me to the courts behind Peabody High School to work on my game, Ed was one of the older teens and early 20-somethings who’d often be there too. Some days, after I was done drilling, my dad would play with them, and I’d watch them play. And then, as I got older and better, I’d play with them too. Today, Ed is a popular politician and a friend. And now, as of early Friday morning, brother to a murdered sister; a woman shot and killed in the street by a man because she said no.
They really are the Tea-Left. They’ve dismissed PBO as a complete failure, they project their cultish “We Are Bernie” attitude on people who shockingly don’t agree with them, and they’re already giving Bernie excuses for not getting anything done when he wins. ‘He’s got integrity!’ ‘He’s the only one I trust!’
Anything he fails to do won’t be his fault. They’re willing to give Bernie all the understanding they never bothered to give PBO. Privilege much?
I don’t believe Senator Sanders will win the nomination so I find no need to worry about him, nor do I dislike him (although too many of his supporters are obnoxious). I hope he rallies his supporters to vote for Secretary Clinton once the primaries are over. We need to be united and win in November and I fear that some of his supporters won’t come out to vote for Secretary Clinton, hence allowing one of those Clown Car Occupants to win.

The joy of Cam Newton: How a polarizing QB made (great) football fun
Tim Keown
His son had a tendency to speak a bit too much in class. The boy liked attention, which caused a problem for his teachers and — by extension — his parents. So one day, Cecil Newton had an idea. He told his son, “Cam, since you want people to notice you, you can dress up on Fridays. That way, everybody will notice you.”
Starting that next Friday, Cam Newton left the house for middle school wearing a long-sleeve button-down, slacks and dress shoes. He did it without complaint, almost cheerfully, and before long the practice wasn’t restricted to Fridays.
“He’s enjoying this,” Cecil told his wife, Jackie.
CAM NEWTON IS enjoying this NFL season in a way that makes some people proud and others lose their minds. He is nearly a caricature of happiness, smiling when we have been conditioned to expect aggression, laughing when we expect seriousness. The default response to success in a game of rage and combat is belligerence: an angry pose or a violent firing of the ball into the turf. And yet here is the rarest of men: one who can throw his body into a snarling pile of large humans — all gunning for him with malicious intent — and emerge on the other side with a radioactive grin and a first down.

God bless his soul. What a great man and caring president for out wounded service men and women. Thank you, Mr. President.HZ
Happy Birthday Judith. Enjoy your day with much celebration.HZ
