Good Morning Chips and TOD
Good morning Donna! Congrats on first, and my deep gratitude for working so hard to get this amazing man elected. What a gift to our nation!.
I love this blog. I have followed it from the beginning, I think, only posting maybe 4 times. I just have to say I’m not a big blog reader sometimes I come to look at the pixs or the latest buzz on Obama. I check Obama diary several times a day it is usually the first site I pull up everyday. I’m don’t know what the plans are for this blog after Obama leaves office, pardon if this is something already to the rest of you, but it will be very strange not to have this blog have a part of my life even if I am not as dedicated poster.
I remember Inauguration day 2009. I took the day off watched 2 television for MSNBC and CNN and my laptop for the BBC coverage. I have included a video just as a look back. I thank you for starting and maintaining this blog and vivid contribution to the historical record. I hope everyone has a great day.
Morning ydavis00. Glad you checked in today and thanks for the memory.
Wonderful memories
What wonderful memories to wake up to; thank you.
I am trying so hard to just focus on savoring every moment that our dear PBO has left in office, but it is hard to hold back the tears and yes, the fears of what this country may be like when he leaves. My better half rejoices that he and his family graced us with their service for 8 long years and that they are still young enough and healthy enough to go on in their lives making more personal dreams come true. I am thankful that I lived to see that a politician can keep his word and truly live out his calling. My other half is filled with dread when I see those who are vying to take his place; I fear that these few golden years may be wiped away as if they have never been. But then,as ever, our president is giving us a model to follow; one that calls for optimism, faith in each other, and the active citizenship that reminds us that “we are the ones that we have been waiting for.” I will never love and respect another leader as I do PBO, but I do not need to. We have all been given a gift that we never expected in out lifetimes to receive and that is enough.
^^This^^^
I’m so glad you decided to delurk, and thanks for posting this clip.
I remember right after the tv stations announced Barack Obama won the General Election calling my daughter-in-law and we both just screamed into our phones. We could not even talk other than a word or two also being screamed like “Yes!” Or “Yah!” My granddaughter who was six then was actually scared at how her mom was acting. She had famously noticed a year earlier when BO was running for office that she was just like him in that she was born in Hawaii too and to my White son and her AA Mom. Close, except the Mom and Dad’s race was opposite. Our family was surprised she had made those comparisons.
Goooooooooood morning to ya Donna!!
Good Morning donna dem 4 Obama, congrats on 1st-est.
Good Morning, Donna. Congrats!!!
Good Morning, have a great day one and all, hope the snow melts and the air gets warm pronto
My take on the Iowa Caucus next week (because I’m a political junkie and I just love this stuff)
I know, I know most aren’t excited about this years election but I find it all sit on the edge of your seat exciting. I cannot wait until next Monday night.
On the Republican side I think that Cruz will pull it off with either Trump or Rubio coming in a strong second. I’ve watched Rubio’s campaign over the last few weeks and he has a strong organization on the ground in Iowa and is turning out very large crowds at his events. He may surprise some folks by beating Trump or Cruz out for second. I’m actually more concerned about him than any other Republican candidate this year.
On the Dem side (this is why I find it fascinating) this election is razor thin close in Iowa. Bernie is counting on all his new voters coming out to caucus for him. Hillary is counting on the Obama coalition (such as it is in Iowa….they did vote twice for him in the GE) turning out with a strong showing from women. Now I think Hillary wins in in a squeaker or it ends in a near tie. President Obama had an advantage with his youth voters eight years ago that Bernie doesn’t have this year. The Iowa caucus took place two days after New Years in 2008. The youth were still home in their precincts for the winter break so he was able to get them spread out all over the state. Bernie on the other hand will need his college students to travel home next Monday night to vote in their districts. He’ll probably get a strong youth turnout but will it help him statewide is the big question? If they are clustered at college voting it will not help him across the state. Everyone including Sanders believes that a strong turnout is advantage Sanders but I’m not so sure that this is the case if its the youth he’s counting on to build up those numbers. Martin actually has a strong coalition and organization in Iowa because he has practically lived there for the last two years and I think he would do well but in the end people go with who they think can win and all polling says that he doesn’t have a chance in he&& to win the nomination so if he isn’t “viable” after first round of the caucus period his voters will go to either Bernie or Hillary. The big question is which way they will go. I used to think they were Bernie voters but I’m not so sure anymore.
Anyway I think because there is not clear cut leader in either caucus that it will make Monday night all the more exciting and with the narcissist backing out of the last debate he may have damaged himself in Iowa. That’s a funny state and those caucus goers are sort of testy about how you treat them but Trump has denied all conventional wisdom up to now so only the actual vote counting will tell….
Countdown to Iowa!!!
Off to work I go so have a great O’Day Everyone!!!
Thanks for the analysis, Donna. I, too, fear a Rubio nomination because he might fool enough Latino voters to make a difference. Hillary could mitigate his impact with a Latino VP choice, as I hope she does. I want Hillary to win Iowa because I truly can’t stand Sanders and would like for him to fade as soon as possible. He”s likely to win NH, but I don’t see a path for him after that. Wish I had your enthusiasm for these elections, but with so much at stake they really make me nervous.
I may not be “in love” this election, but I am highly engaged. Without hyperbole, this may be the most important election in history. The GOP has never been this crazy, this ignorant, and they are engaged. We MUST win or the country will not just be set back - it could be irreparably harmed.
Bernie is a disaster. The “socialist” cannot win, particularly now. Norman Goldman did an entire hour on the early years of the 20th century: labor and social issues were getting vast attention and there was a vast shift in what Americans expected in the workplace, etc. And even before the communist revolution in Russia, this country could not elect (or even come close) a socialist. We have half of the country terrified and easily manipulated. Bernie can’t and won’t work with others. He’s difficult, close-minded, ideological, insular. He’s not a Democrat. His supporters are vicious, and are more tea party in their “burn everything down” beliefs than they are Democrats. If Bernie wins, we have a GOP government. God help us.
I’m guardedly hoping that Hillary kicks his ass in IA, although you may be right that it will be a squeaker. I expect Bernie to win NH but I hope the margins are closer than expected.
The election starts on Monday…….
New thing to sort of kind of worry about - the weather next week in Iowa! Our meteorologist said there’s a big winter event coming on Tuesday, but it “should be fine” for the Monday night caucuses! He cited his “European model” - but how do they know so far in advance? Arg. Well, they did seem to know well in advance all about the blizzard last weekend. Fingers crossed for Iowa! 5 days, 10 hours and 2 minutes to go! :-)
Hi muscatinegal!
How has the caucus battle been going? Outside of the ads that I know you are being inundated with, how would you compare the intensity for your caucus vote in this years election to the 2008 caucus?
Good Morning Chips, Danny, maryl1 & Anjo. I agree with you, Have a wonderful day. and 99ts sorry I missed your BD.
Morning. I’m thinking that PBO’s lunch with VP Biden is going to be an antidote to the meeting with Sanders. Can you imagine that discussion,
Like Hamilton’s Aaron Burr, “I want to be in the room when it happens” where PBO meets with Sanders.
GM Tod - congrats on No 1 Donna. Good to see the FBI calmly doing its job - and the President carrying on with his job.
Hahaha!!!!!
Perfect. Her endorsements have always been a kiss of death. I would have paid her NOT to endorse.
Funny too how Trump uses Twitter to attack and retaliate, but is offended and ready to sue when the same is used towards him. I notice that one of the first things he says about not participating in the FOX debate is let’s see what happens to the ratings. It’s all about show.
Maybe we should all watch the debate so Donald is wrong about the ratings!
Congrat Donna!
Good morning TOD.
Hi ya Ms. Chips!
Not a good day to walk in NYC. Going to Costco, that usually makes me smile.
The sidewalks still needs to be cleared. It is still a wonder day. A beautiful post.
POB continues to work hard to keep us safe.
ALL Is well.
Morning everyone…wtf….where are the men with the straight jackets and the haldol?
http://juanitajean.com/boogie-boogie-land/
Did you know there was a 1st Obama, 2nd Obama, and 3rd Obama? Geeze. I learned that half of America suffers from mental health issues.
yup, he is a teabagger whom the establishment is now trying to desperately as a moderate now that jeb$ has sunk like lead.
Rubio is getting away with lot less scrutiny because he’s overshadowed by the horrendous duo ahead of him in the lineup. When the light fully shines on him, both his voting record and his shameful ethical problems will get a lot more attention. He’s a little twerp who is not ready for prime time and it will be the job of all of us, plus the Democratic nominee, to expose that ugliness.
Good Wednesday, Chipsticks…TOD Family!!!
Everyone, enjoy your day.
It’s amazing to me that DT and his antics are again getting more coverage than the Bundy group arrests.
fiiinally.
Good Morning, Everyone :)
one positive outcome, if you can call it that, is how donald dreck is showing to more and more people how pathetic the entire us media, espeically the pox news, is.
Sanders had 15k people in Minnesota. He’s trying the Obama model of surviving Super Tuesday. Campaigning in states that will give him delegates.
What is strange is, a photo of the people in Minnesota, it’s all white very young kids, mostly college kids.
Sharp contrast, trump gets this many people at his rallies also… But it’s all White, but older 55+ group.
Both candidates are slated to win both Iowa and NH.
Sanders has a 4 point lead in Iowa this mornings poll. Sanders is leading New Hampshire by 20
Trump is leading Iowa also had New Hampshire by double digits.
What the hell is going on?
if you want to freak out over ‘polls’, wait at least till selzer’s. qpac has been a dud for some time now.
Trump supporters college aged kids, mayhaps? :) They seem to have one very strong trait in common…
Good morning Ms. Chips, Danny and TOD family, I hope all is well with everyone this lovely Wednesday morning. Congrats Donna, on being first this morning.
The greatest start of the day is when you wake-up in the morning and have all your faculties and mobility. If you don’t think so, try not waking up.
To all, I hope you have one of the calmest, mellowest, and smoothest days of your life today. <3 <3 <3
Thank God that President Obama is still the President of The United States of America. ⭐🏆 ⭐🏆 ⭐🏆
Good morning, good people.
Something positive to start the day:
Wow, what a story. After what he has been through to be willing to give back like he does is so wonderful.
Meta, thanks for sharing this!

It’s a delicious spectacle :-)
I don’t give a whit about GE now. This gopgeddon is fascinating to watch.
I’m hoping they devour each other.

I’m not going to Google that, I’d be afraid what I’d see.

funny for all their don’t tread on me bravado, they are all treading over each other. it’s either gop wins, america loses, or gop loses, america wins.
Snakes are the perfect symbol for them - slithery scumbags.
This one is even better
Republicans point fingers: Who let Trump get this far?
With less than a week to go before Iowa, the GOP’s blame game has already begun.

Someone for whom these type comments seem to be a standard cannot represent the US on the world stage.
One thing is for sure. If any of kkklowns get elected, america can kiss goodbye to its world’s leader status. No country, including europe, will be looking to its leadership any more.
That’s for sure.
Ain’t this a muthaphucka.

Michigan’s Snyder to ask feds to cover Flint kids’ health
Rachel Maddow reports breaking news that Michigan Governor Rick Snyder will be asking the federal government to provide long term health coverage for the children of Flint exposed to lead-tainted water. Flint Mayor Karen Weaver joins on the phone to explain the details of the needs of Flint’s kids.
So Snyder want the Government to come and pay for the mess he caused. These Republicans are something else.
I am not calling the kids a mess.
that was clear bella2758
Into the finals. One more match, one more GS. 8-)

EPA cracks whip on Michigan, Snyder cagey on aid money for Flint
Bryn Mickle, editor of The Flint Journal, talks with Rachel Maddow about Michigan Governor Rick Snyder picking a fight with the EPA over their jurisdiction in the Flint water crisis and his caginess on past e-mails and the apportionment of millions of federal dollars in aid for Flint.
Christie is the same kind of bloviating big mouth that DT is….ask NJ how that’s working out for them….
This is what they do. They double down on their lies. Then they have an entire entertainment complex to carry their false messages to the public because a lie told often enough becomes the truth in their world. Even when faced with facts they still continue the falsehood. Fox viewers and conservative radio listeners eat it up.
Exactly!!! And Carly Fiorina is especially good at the doubling down/ignoring facts.
The ladies:)

G’morning Chips, TOD, lurkers, eveyone! Congrats Donna on #1! :) Happy Wednesday everyone! :)
Can someone tell me what PBO’s meeting with Bernie sanders at 11:45PM is all about? Are they going to talk about Sanders being on HRC’s VP ticket, or is PBO scolding him about the blocked EPA nominee? Please advise! :)
Sorry for the typo: I meant *11:45 AM*
Closed meeting with no agenda item per the press.
This is just my opinion but after PBO’s interview with Thrush I would think that his campaign probably reached out to the WH and asked for a sit down. Bernie’s campaign is so tone death in their righteous beliefs that I’m not sure they realize how their message resonates with actual Democrats and especially those of us that like what PBO has done over the last 7 years. Hillary calling him out at that last debate on the way he has treated Dems especially PBO in 2012 was probably a wake-up call and that interview with Thrush was confirmation that he may be in trouble getting votes from Obama supporters. Watch to see if his tone changes on the stump after today.
Really puzzled about it too Hopefruit, I was away from my computer for most of yesterday so didn’t read anything about it, then saw it in this morning’s schedule and went: HUH??
purpleshoes had a great reply to that a few threads below.
he also dings the gratuitous obama attack about wh leaking bind laden tapes in the end.
dings obama with the gratuitous attack about
He also blamed the CIA for leaks about bin laden . I think that part is true because Panetta has always had a very big mouth.
unlike so many republican business owners, here’s another self-made (in the truest sense) billionaire who understands “it takes a village” and has stayed true to her liberal roots, despite her now massive wealth. great story:

my favorite part:
“And after Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce, the state’s largest business lobby, ran a large advertising campaign to support a candidate for the state Supreme Court (a nut job republican), Epic announced that it would no longer do business with companies that belonged to the group.”
Good morning TOD folks. So happy to see Mr Donald ‘Let’s make America great” Trump is losing his Emperors clothes.
