Yes! I’m here catching up to what’s been posted, although I should be making calls for a congressional candidate, Alex Law, NJ 1st District, I’m supporting in the primary. He’s a progressive democrat running against Donald Norcross, our current one.

Bottom line, hardline Sanders fundamentalists cannot, under any circumstances, accept that significant economic recovery is happening under the current president and the current structure. If they acknowledge that reality, it becomes difficult to make a case for revolution. The ugly truth is that these revolution peddlers need to have people’s lives getting worse, not better, and barring such wish being a reality, they desperately need to cling to that pretense.

“The ugly truth is that these revolution peddlers need to have people’s lives getting worse, not better…”

That’s it in a nutshell, Ladyhawke. Just like the GOP has to obstruct, disrupt and dismantle government to prove that government is inefficient and ineffective. Their talking points work well for both.

Spandan is always so spot on and incisive in his analysis. Bernie is a phony who has to create an world of endless grievances to justify himself. It truly angers me that so many people fall for his act.

This is so true…for Sanders and all of his progressives…because to show that progress has been made makes a lie of all their disappointment of the President and shows that it is possible for Congress to be an engine for the people

Good Morning Chips, Danny, amk, Ladyhawke, swbluega. I am watching C-Span and Arnie Arnesen a radio host from the east coast supposed to be liberal. She did not have anything nice to say about Hillary and the Clintons and couldn’t quite give her approval of the Presidents job on jobs and the reason we don’t have more employment. Same old same old bullshit.

    • 45 RanMan (@ranman09)
      February 6, 2025 at 9:09 am

Roberta, I was watching that as well. If she is representative of the majority of NH Dems/Libs/Progs, she has validated why, Lord willing, I will be doing all I can to make sure Iowa and NH no longer hold “First-In-The-Nation” status for Presidential election years.

        February 6, 2025 at 9:35 am

Why is everyone always bashing Iowa. Did everyone forget we gave then Senator Obama a big boost to becoming elected President.
Also I believe President Obama said the other day that the oldest mosque in the U.S. is in Iowa. So I don’t believe this “lily white state ”
is all that bad and worthy of all these negative comments. I am a 65 yr old white woman and have backed President Obama since 2007.

most of what criticism I have seen is for:

          (a) the republican IA electorate that often seems to be voting for the most extreme religious-based candidate;

          (b) others who would prefer that their own state was first to cast their ballots for POTUS … IA is envied for this unique status and hence it is often bashed

Thank you all my TOD friends for your wonderful and heartfelt comments about Pat’s death. Yesterday was a shitty day today I think will be better. I just need to shut off C-Span. TV off. Time to get some stuff done around the house. Like eat. LOL. BBL. Thank you all again. (((hugs))) I really appreciate out community here. I don’t always comment, but I do try and read all the posts. Still have some to get caught up from. Love you all.
Chips, it’s great to hear you found a forever home for that beautiful doggie. He had a gorgeous face and sad eyes. You are a special person.

    February 6, 2025 at 9:07 am

I am so tired of these people trying to claim that this President haven’t done a great job. I refuse to listen to their B.S. This is what piss me off about some of these liberals. All I know is NH and Iowa do not represent the rest of America, and Bernie will have to have support from someone beside whites. I do not believe he will get alot of support from blacks or hispanics. 2010 the reason the Republicans took control of the House is because of those Progressives types listening to others and not going out to vote. So they are partly to blame for the President having to deal with these sorry racists do nothing Republicans.

    Whaaaaaaat?

Say hello to a brand new Twitter. The company is planning to introduce an algorithmic timeline as soon as next week, BuzzFeed News has learned.

The timeline will reorder tweets based on what Twitter’s algorithm thinks people most want to see, a departure from the current feed’s reverse chronological order.

It is unclear whether Twitter will force users to use the algorithmic feed, or it will merely be an option.

      GM Chips.

Twitter has been in an uproar since last night.

Since it’s a free service, I’m taking the “Obama approach” — sit back and see what happens vs. speculation and outrage.

Crossing fingers though, that this is correct.

And this cracked me up, and is so true, LOL (elite bubble, much)?

      • February 6, 2025 at 9:30 am

Ah, as usual Arapaho, I slept through a major development

GM Chips, didn’t miss much (other than Twitter outrage, which is readily available, night or day, LOL).

I like Twitter and @jack; hope the best for him, but he’s a gazillionaire, even if Twitter tanks.

If Twitter exits the chronological social media sphere, some other (free) functionality will fill the vacuum.

Since amk kicked off the Cruz-bashing upthread, here’s a couple of tweets posted earlier here.

This should go in the Tweet Hall Of Fame:

DF posted this on the overnight thread, so I tweeted it.

    LOL:

Instead of just questioning Sanders’ choice, we should really be questioning why any of the candidates of either party are employing the same old foreign policy advisers – many of whom not only supported the Iraq war but every disastrous military intervention since. These are the same people who now think that yet another regional war will somehow fix the chaos in the Middle East.

    =======

…yet there are Bernie supporters that are okay that the highlight of his foreign policy is that he voted against the Iraq War.

  25. 90 arapaho415
    February 6, 2025 at 9:54 am

Since last week, MSM made it clear that the current Clinton e-mail uproar (aka “scandal” according to GOP) is really nothing more than a turf battle between govt. agencies (which has fueled so much history for the US — think Pentagon “domino theory” persuading US Presidents during the Cold War).

Haven’t read this article, but think it’s rehashing what was tweeted a week ago.

Lawmakers from both parties are outraged about wealthy families who are living in subsidized housing intended for the poor.

As many as 25,226 “over-income” families are living in government-subsidized homes, according to the inspector general for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) released in July. Nearly half of them exceed the income limits by at least $10,000.

Republicans and Democrats say people are “gaming the system” by remaining in public housing long after their incomes have gone up.

    #FlintWaterCrisis

After saying upthread that I try not to be outraged, I saw this and became #outraged.

Michigan needs to get rid of Snyder, if for no reason he doesn’t have the sense of a gnat and doesn’t have the smarts or political aptitude to be in charge of the 10th largest (in terms of population) state in the USA.

Here’s a photo of a birthday cake for Rick Snyder’s wife this week:

    Here’s the article:

It might just be me (am pretty much anti-designer anything — sorry, @FLOTUS and her talented designers), but Nordstrom is based in Seattle and Chanel is French, for pete’s sake — Michael Kors and Tiffany in NYC.

None contribute much to Michigan’s well-being.
